Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado lt. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds and lets his foot off the accelerator, he noticed the vehicle would rev up and accelerate to 1800rpm's. This occurs on a intermittent basis. The vehicle was inspected by three different dealers and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered little assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000. Tb.
Speedometer does not read accurate. It either reads 15 mph at highway speeds, or goes way high such as 120 mph at 55 to 60 mph. Sometimes at the higher reading, it will read 60 mph when vehicle is stopped, in park, and ignition off. I was told this is a stepping motor but hard to change and expensive to change. I have read that there was a class action lawsuit that was never brought up.

The 2004 Chevrolet, Silverado is running 50 plus mph, and speedometer reads zero. When is general going to get there heads out of there.
Speedometer on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado truck sticks at various places. If I turn off the engine and it is stuck on 30 mph the next time I drive the needle went up from there as if that was zero. So I might only be going 30 mph, but the speedometer said im going 60 mph. This is dangerous because I don't know what speeed I am going. I have heard of many others with this problem on gm trucks.
My 2004 Chevrolet Silverado speedometer was defective/ erratic, and intermittently operating, not reading speed accurately. It was jumpy, and did not not work at all at times. The vehicle has 41000 miles , and dealer will not fix it under warranty.

Reduced engine power message and drops into "limp mode", there is no problem with engine overheating. The computer give a code 1516 "drive by wire" sensor calibration problem. Dealer indicated "yellow" wire broken on some vehicles others have to replace the throttle sensor. Danger is on loose of power in traffic, instead of a message to check the engine.
2004 Chevrolet Silverado z71 w/ 44,300 miles is having problems with the speedometer. There is no way to tell how fast I am going. This is a very dangerous and widespread problem with the newer gms.

Ref: NHTSA action #eo2015--------------over the past two weeks the throtle had been sticking on my 2000 chevy Silverado 5. 3 engine. On Feb 5 while aproching a light it stuck at 30 mph. After applying the brakes the vehicle wouldnt stop and vehicle continued forward. Evasive action was taken by driving off into a field and placing the truck in neutral. Feb 6 the vehicle was taken to weed chevy in bristol PA and they replaced the throttle body. Two plugs in the plate and the pcv valve. When I paid my bill I noticed on the bill that there was a service flash for the mechanic, that this was a existing problem.

Speedometer malfunctioned.
We have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2004 impala. Speedometers have broken on both. The impala was replaced under warranty. The Silverado was turned in under warranty but not repaired and now it is out of warranty. This apparently is a major and widespread problem with Chevrolet vehicles and the company will not stand behind the product. Bob howard Chevrolet in oklahoma city tells me cost to fix this problem is $400-600 for the part and $125-175 for labor. How many of these module clusters have prematurely malfunctioned? mechanics and gm service centers say they are on national back order. That should illustrate the need for review and recall.
My 2005 chevy Silverado 1500, 4. 3 engine and 4 speed auto transmissionhas a problem when using cruise. Going up hil and it needs to downshift it will go into 3rd gear for anout a second and half then to second with rpm going from 1800 to 4500 in less than 2 seconds. I'm being told this is normal and gm has no plans to fix it.
The consumer complained about an instant acceleration problem when approaching a stop sign or red light and when applying brake pressure. This often occurred when stopping at low speeds, such as 10 mph or lower, and was intermittent in nature. This has happened at least five times. When brakes pressure was applied the engine suddenly revved. The consumer applied brake pressure and rear wheels spun, smoke appeared, and burning rubber fell on the pavement. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer several times for this problem. The dealer checked the calibration and performed a diagnostic check. These measures did not reveal any type of problem or failure. The dealer installed a device into the vehicle to record any incident. However, while the device was installed there were no recorded incidents of this type. A call was made to the manufacturer, who sent a factory representative to inspect the vehicle, no failure was determined. No corrections or repairs were done at this time. The consumer felt this was still a problem, most recent incident occurred yesterday with no explanation as to why this happened.
My speedometer and tachometer quit working along with a tail light my mechanic said the part alone would cost 300. 00. I thought my tach was still working until I got a 150. 00 ticket. I can't afford that much especially with my ticket.
Speedometer reads erratically well above or below actual speed or may read correctly then become off be a little or a lot without warning. Dealer says they have had a rash of these failures. Could result in unsafe speeds without notice. I first noticed it in a 35 mph zone when the speedometer read 35 and I was passing everyone quickly.
Speedometer reads erratically either highor low. Will register various speed when stopped. Sometimes will work properly, then go bad again. 1st noticed when read 35 mph on road keeping up with traffic in 60mph zone. Dealer say he has seen a run on this problem with 5-6 in last couple of weeks. At first it would seem okay when it warmed up for 15-20 minutes now really erratic. Requires module replacement at $680 and 7 days to get part. Unsafe to drive with no reliable speed measure.
I own a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 z71 ext cab pickup. On Dec 23, 2004 the speedometer would not decrease its reading, even if the vehicle was at a complete stop. The speedometer will only display the incorrect speed or top out and not move from 120mph. When I contacted the dealership were the vehicle was purchased they notified me that this is an ongoing problem and the part they need to fix the speedometer is on back order for a minimum of 30 days.
I have a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado . 5 ton. I have had a problem with the fuel level sensor and a check engine light for the last 8 months. My speedometer started to act very jittery for about 2 months and now it does not work at all. It is stuck pointing straight down. Two dealers said they are seeing this a lot, and have a very long back order for parts.
While pulling into the driveway vehicle commenced to accelerate and lurched forward. Consumer was able to slam on the brakes, and turn the ignition switch off before any other damage could have occurred. Dealer was notified.
