Metal shavings were found in my oil after the check engine light came on a day before I took it in. The day that I took it in my brakes limited the speed of my truck to 43 mph due brake malfunction. The dealership called and told me that they recommend engine replacement due to the metal shavings found in the oil. I can give more in depth info as I receive it but I just wanted to alert chevy that my vehicle is doing the same thing that the others are getting recalled for.

I am reporting a safety concern that I believe should be included in an existing or expanded recall for the Chevrolet silverado. The issue involves engine replacement due to metal shaving being found in oil & brake failure, which occurred on 05/01/2025 the problem with the brakes occurred while I was in heavy traffic in dallas, texas multiple times, resulted in multiple near-accident experiences that day. The truck has been diagnosed by a mechanic, at the chevy dealership and I believe this defect poses a serious safety risk and may be affecting other silverado vehicles outside the current recall scope. I have driven the vehicle to chevy and stayed in constant contact with the dealership, had diagnostics done, but the issue has not been resolved. Am requesting that the NHTSA investigate whether this issue warrants inclusion in the current recall or a new safety campaign. I have on had this vehicle less than 2 years and I put less than 70k miles on it. I purchased it from vandergriff Chevrolet in arlington, TX.

The contact called on behalf of his son who owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving 20 mph, while depressing the brake pedal the brake pedal was very stiff. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact’s son was able to continue safely driving to the residence. The local dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact who is a mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with vacuum pump failure. The contact repaired the vehicle. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic); as possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

Last year the right parking brake was sticking and our service parking brake light kept coming on. We found out that it ate our back right brake so both needed to be replaced. That lasted less than a year. I brought it back to our local mechanic twice and they couldn't figure it out so they referred us to a dealership to run a diagnostic test (which I had to pay $108. 00 out of pocket for) I brought it in to the dealership on Friday (4-18-25) to find out that the brake control module needs to be replaced. I noticed that their is a recall for my exact vehicle but my VIN # is not included in the recall. I would like to be included in this recall. This is a very serious issue that deals with everyone's safety. I don't want to have to keep fixing this. I just want my vehicle fixed. Please help.

While driving going 40 mph a ‘brake system failure’ warning came on and brakes stopped working. Thankfully there were no cars ahead allowing me to continue until the car came to a stop. At that point I engaged the emergency brake and put the car in park and out of gear. I then had the truck towed to a chevy dealership. I still do not have a response to what the issue is.

Driving on highway leaving virginia going around 70 all of a sudden truck starts making clicking and clacking sound all warning signals came on dash truck slows down to 20-25 miles pulled off highway checked fluid levels returned back to highway could only drive 45-50 an hour to augusta GA upon inspection at dealership was told either the lifters and camshaft were bad no prior problems.

When going at low speeds like through a parking lot when I apply my brakes they get rock hard and do not want to stop. I can get it stopped but just barely. When going at normal driving speed 30mph plus they are fine and stop fine. I almost pulled into a car in a parking lot because I almost couldn't stop due to my brakes failing. This happens every time I go at low speeds 25mph and less.

I have the l87 6. 2 liter v8 engine from general motors. I had sudden engine failure. Apparently the rods and bearings are bad. It is the same problem as the recall issued for 2021-2024 vehicles, exept for my truck is a year 2020. 1gcpyfel7lz342445.

GMC knows there is a problem with the vacuum pump assembly/belt kit and are refusing to recall it. The breaks are harder to press (see attachments) and the alarms are constantly dinging. My truck has less than one hundred and fifty miles and I bought it 12/07/2015, they have a special warrant on these vehicles but will not honor it. This is dangerous not to have the proper breaking power.

Pulling forward in my driveway and my breaks went stiff.

Driving on road at approximately 30 mph. All lights on dash came on and car braked suddenly immediately stopping the vehicle in the middle of traffic. Could not release the brake. Car was idling very rough during this time. Turned car off and back on. Brake released but still running very rough. Made it the short trip home. Truck to dealership via wrecker. Brake was again a problem getting on and off the wrecker.

Service brake assist light comes on and brakes a very hard to push. Brakes also make a weird sound when pushed down. I have to push really hard to hold the vehicle from moving.

-vacuum pump malfunction. Not available, has already been repaired. Found out after the fact there had been a recall on 2014-2018 vacuum pumps. Mine had not been included in the recall, yet here we are. -while pulling into a parking spot, as I was slowing down/braking the pedal went to the floor, truck accelerated went over a parking barrier, sidewalk and hit a tree. If I had not hit the tree, I would have driven into the side of the building into people doing cardio or if someone had been walking in front of me, I would have hit them. Seeing an orthopedist on June 10 for right hip and knee pain as leg was fully extended on impact. -quality GMC collision/service tested/drove the car and it didn't happen. Service ran diagnostics and it happened then. Highlighted in yellow on repair invoice. -quality GMC collision/service. Don't know if an adjuster looked at it or not. Quality did file a claim for it though. - there was no warning, indication, message, problem before this happened. My brakes were were working and then they weren't.

I experienced issues with braking including shuddering brakes. I took the vehicle to a repair shop who looked into any active recalls and there were none, I had the electronic brake control module recall completed in 2019. The shop replaced the front brakes and resurfaced the back which did not fix the issue. They then replaced the vacuum pump which did fix the issue I was responsible for all costs. I recently noticed my vehicle is covered under special coverage n182202780 through 2027 which covers the cost of the vacuum pump replacement. Chevy is refusing to reimburse for the costs because the work was not done at their dealership despite not having a recall that states that. I would like the issue addressed theough a formal recall and reimbursement of repair costs as chevy is obviously aware there is a safety issue related to braking due to failing components.

The brake vacuum pump on the 2014-2018 chevy silverado has intermittent failures causing reduced brakes, which is a major safety issue. Gm has this listed under a "special coverage warrenty" instead of a recall and wont fix this because the warrenty ended 6/24 or 150k miles(mine onpy has 125k). Luckily I didn't have any traffic infront of me and the street light had just turned red and the cross traffic hadn't started to move yet. When I contacted gm about this I talked to 3 different representatives 2 were the initial points of contact, the first stated I would be reimbursed due to this being a safety issue, the second said the first was talking about a "general warrenty". . . ? the third was a supposed " supervisor who was obviously reading from a script and chose his words very carefully when telling me that because the speciap coverage warrenty was up gm wasn't going to do anything about this which is a leagal way of saying their are ok with this known issue on their trucks out in the world. Probably because it'll be cheaper to have their lawyers fight a lawsuit than to pay for the parts and labor to have this known safety issue fixed.

The brakes feel squishy and it is difficult to stop at low speeds. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. Safety being put at risk by not being able to stop in time possibly causing crash. The truck was taken to a mechanic who found a code stating low vacuum pressure on brake booster but they could not find a leak anywhere and cleared the code. It is unknown if the component has been inspected by the manufacturer. Yes there has been a warning light before. It is unknown when exactly this problem started.

We have had several issues with our vehicle from early ownership, such as, (1) signal light goes from very fast blinking to working. We have taken it to the dealership and are told they cannot duplicate the issue. It seems to correct itself when you turn off the truck and turn it back on. (2) the digital screen about the steering wheel where all all your gauges are have gone completely black. I took it to the dealership and was told that they had to keep the truck until they could duplicate the issue, but again, turning off and then turning it back on seemed to help. Sometimes it works on the first restart, and others it takes a few times and longer times between restarts. (3) onstar has stopped communicating with my vehicle about a year, year and half in. (4) google maps has never worked. (5) remote starts works sometimes. (6) auto-shut off works sometimes. (7) air conditioner started having issues last summer. We have to turn off and on the vehicle or rev up the engine so that it will kick in. This works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. (7) esc and traction control lights came on, the truck starts shaking, and brakes locked. Truck had to be towed to nearest dealership. The truck only had 12k miles when this happened. (8) around the same mileage, an injector had to be replaced. (9) now at 52k miles, we have the esc, traction control, and check engine light again. Truck is shaking, feels like the gears are slipping when you press on gas, and has white smoke coming from the mufflers. These issues have been report to both local dealership and gm corporate office. These issues have left us stranded 300 miles from home and has left us without air conditioner in 3-digit weather when we had our grandbaby with us.

The contact was able to stop the vehicle at the red light; however, the vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken or towed to be diagnosed. On another occasion, the transmission failed, and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not repaired after the most recent failure. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message "service power steering" was displayed, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction. Additionally, the abs and stabili-trac warning lights remained illuminated. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer was informed of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 114,800.

Service brake assist activated. Vacuum pump failure, there is no vacuum going to the brake booster from the vacuum pump mounted on the front of the engine block driven by belt pulley. Has code co299-00 brake booster large vacuum leak detected. Pump is not creating vacuum no vacuum going to booster for power brakes. This is a recall.

Was driving my 2019 silverado home and a warning light came on said service esc and something about speed is set to 45mph max. Then the truck would not go. I pulled over and tried to figure out what was going on. Luckly I was able to make it home got out my code reader and check the codes they were p25a2 and c053d. I have looked up these codes I see them all over the internet other people are having them as well. I checked for recalls I dont see any for this issue. Are there any fix for this issue?.

While tapping brakes to park in tight spaces or inching up in a drive thru, the brake pedal shudders and gets stiff. It's extremely hard to stop the truck.

On many occasions, at low speeds approx 5 mph. The brake booster fails and braking is hard and abs kicks in.

I noticed up on start up a warning light comes on & display says brake system failure 62 mph then goes away. I have been reading numerous other reviews online that they are experiencing the same issue. 2nd problem is when I bought the vehicle I noticed numerous oil spots on the tailgate, I asked a gm representative & they said it was road grime, but I noticed the rear pinon is leaking, so it's been leaking since I bought the truck & the dealership either doesn't know it's a known issue or they didn't want to come out & say it.

My break system failed twice in 2 weeks. On Feb 01, 2025 around 5:35 pm, I almost ran over a dog the first time because I lost access to breaks and emergency breaks and could not stop going through my neighborhood. Today on Feb 13, 2025, I had picked my son up from school, and the breaks went out after we left the school. This time I almost ran into a car but had to turn off to the right to avoid hitting it. My son and I could have injured the person driving in front of us and ourselves. I looked up the problem, and it seems that many others have faced the same problem. When I turned off the truck for 10 minutes, the system would reset itself and start working normally again. I took the truck to the shop, and it is currently there so they can run tests on it. I recorded what it looks like on the dash when I lose all braking.

Traveling on the highway at 70 mph the rear wheels (brakes) locked up nearly causing a collision. I found a couple of recalls notices for 2020 chevy Silverado 1500, but nothing posted for 2019 chevy silverado. The vehicle was taken immediately to the dealership for evaluation and repair. The tow/haul mode light blinked on and then off. At no time was the tow haul mode manually engaged. My understanding is the vehicle’s electronic brake control module (ebcm) software could have an error that should be covered under a recall. Upon inspection and repair the dealership found codes for the brake system control module lost communication with multiple modules and found low voltage codes. They replaced the battery and updated the bscm. I believe Chevrolet should extend the recall to 2019 models and hopefully this report will cause action to be taken and prevent accidents in the future.

While driving going at a speed of 60 mph on the highway my brakes stopped working, anti locks weren’t working. Abs light came on and it also said brake system failure and to go at max speed 65 mphs. This put myself and my daughter greatly at risk!vehicle could not stop. Now the system shows no issues and all warning dashboard lights are off (abs) I did find a recall online for this same issue for 2019 chevy Silverado 1500.

After driving and doing errands I tried to pull truck into garage and noticed it was hard to move. It seemed like brakes were stuck on despite not applying brakes. I pulled out of driveway to drive around block. Lost all brakes while driving down county road at 50 mph. Check engine light on, brake failure warning on, warning light that speed limited to 43 mph, abs light on. Eventually able to stop. Turned off engine for a few minutes. Restarted and brakes all worked again although check engine light still on. This could have been deadly on a steep road or on ice or in traffic. I see online that this is a common problem with chevy trucks although no recall has been issued for this one. I am very concerned that this truck is not safe - for me or anyone else on the road with me. I have not taken it in. I live in the country, some distance from a dealership so nothing has been confirmed. Nothing like this has happened to this truck before and there was no other warning. It is available for inspection but is my only transportation.

The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake caliper had seized, and the brake line had collapsed. The contact was informed that the caliper and three sensors on the wheels needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was also a leak in the oil line. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

I was driving down the interstate stuck in slow moving traffic going 55 in a 70 in jacksonville, FL. The chevy suddenly lit up like a dang christmas tree, parking brake service, check engine light, lane assist, and evac all flashing on the screen. Everytime I hit clear it like a new warning popped up. It started to drive super rough as in bumpy, loud and hesitant. I parked it, turned it off. Waited maybe an hour since I went to class, then came back to start it. Issue was still there. I took it to the dealership who seemed more interested in buying it than repairing it, they said it could be a number of things and estimated 10k even though they couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. They knew, they just wouldn’t say. Anywho, $100 later for a wacky diagnosis, I left to take the truck to an actual mechanic, who stated the lifters failed which caused a bent rod, which then damaged the cam shaft. We had just bought the truck outright for 27k three months prior and only driven it 1,500 miles. It was estimated to be anywhere between 12-15k to fix. Which we didn’t have that money and personal loans are too high so we traded it in and took a loss of 17k while being thankful that no one was injured driving this thing. The truck didn’t even have 80,000 miles yet. It was at 75,000 or 76,000. Truck engines shouldn’t fail that soon or fail at all and this is a common safety issue with this truck. If you have time, google the main issues for this truck and you’ll see several posts about people complaining about their truck doing the same and having to do a computer deletion to get the engine to function correctly to prevent this issue.

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ltz. 5. 3 ecotrac 8 transmission with 89,000 miles. I bought it used and have had it 12 months, but only drove it 9 before it malfunctioned causing severe electrical & mechanical problems. I was driving the truck when the epb, service engine, stabilitrac, ecbm warning lights came on, also driving over 43 miles an hour could cause a crash due brake failure this caused the emissions. Transmission, & throttle to shut down truck would not shift out of low gear. It would shift to park but did not recognize it was in park which kept the accessory on running down the battery, the tail gate would not open, and the information system shut down. I got sick and was in the hospital for 5 weeks, the truck was vandalized. The body repair shop took it to the Chevrolet dealership in long beach to have it inspected. I did not tell them the vehicle had malfunctioned, throwing code u0101 and another code. I wanted the dealer to find the problem, the truck had not been driven since it was parked from the malfunction. All they came back with was I had a burnt cylinder and would be 9000 to fix due to maintenance, we maintained this truck changing the oil every 3000 miles with castoroil synthetic oil, regularly checking and maintaining transmission, brake , all-fluids. Supposedly they ran a diagnostic, if they did they would have found these warnings and that main code u0101 would have showed up. When it happened onstar ran the diagnostic and told me to take it immediately to a dealership. That dash should have lit up like a christmas tree that’s how many light were going off. The dealership never said a thing about these lights. Now I’ve read where chevy had a problem with the epb and only put them on this model from 2019 to 2022 because of this. I found on other sites recalls that included what happened to my truck, but not in your web sight. There was major design and manufacturing flaw with this model and year. I’ve read complaints on this.

I was driving to work from livingston to bozeman and the roads were bad so I was only going about 60 maybe 65 which was reasonable for the conditions this day, and out of nowhere my truck locked up and I slid it directly into the center median.

This morning it was 16 degrees f I drove about 6 city miles at about 35 mph. I was 1. 5 miles from home when leaving a stop light the truck bogged down and was only going up to about 25 mph with the tach at 2000 rpm. It seemed at first that I was driving with the parking brake on but most v8's have enough power to override the parking brake. This acted as if I was pressing hard on the foot brake while driving and giving it a lot of gas. I probably would have had to floor it to go any faster. But was afraid of damaging something. Put on the flashers and drove about 15 mph with the tach at 1500-2000rpm. The dash displayed "brake system failure 62 mph top speed", "service esc", "parking brake failure" and "service trailer brake system", the brake pedal was changing its height by itself. Pulled to side of road and pumped the brakes several times, shifted the transmission through park, neutral, reverse and drive and it seemed to operate normally. Pulled onto road and it was bogging down the same. Pulled to side of road again. Then started driving again with flashers on and the tranny shifted as normal, but the brake pedal went to the floor. Pumped the brake pedal and it still went to the floor. Drove slowly while checking the brake occasionally but still went to the floor during the 5 blocks to my driveway. The brake had no effect. My driveway slopes slightly upward so I stopped safely. All four wheel centers and brake rotors were too hot to touch after slowly driving the 1. 5 miles this occurred over. About 15 minutes later I turned on the key and the dash displayed "brake system failure 43 mph top speed", "service esc", and "service trailer brake system". Fortunately there were no vehicles close in front of me when this started and many were behind me when driving with my flashers on due to quite a bit of traffic. This could have been a disaster had it occurred somewhere else. The local Chevrolet dealer that services it has not seen it yet.
