Refer to NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000. Which states: summary: certain pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles may experience unwanted antilock brake system (abs) activation. This condition is more likely to occur in environmentally corrosive areas. This recall will be launched in the "salt belt" states of connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maryland, massachusetts, maine, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia only. Consequence: this can cause increased stopping distances during low-speed brake applications, which could result in a crash this is acknowledged in vehicle model year 1999-2002 chevy silverados, and was issued in 2005, however, my 2005 silverado with 25000 miles has the same issue, and an investigation has determined that the issue that had forced this recall is not resolved and carries through additional model years, through at least 2006. This issue results in an unsafe condition, and Chevrolet must extend this recall to include later model trucks that fall within this recall.

We had two crashes last winter (michigan 2009) when we applied brakes and the vehcile (2000 silverado pickup) lunged forward instead of stopping. We figured the vehcile slid on icey roads but in July this year we were in a parking lot where we slammed on brakes to avoid hitting a vehicle and truck did not stop and kept on going. We then took it to garage and the mechanic put a new wheel bearing (with wheel sensor) on right front. I noticed on 8/30/2005 NHTSA campaign number. 05v379000 that there was a recall of 1999-2002 trucks with this problem. We are so lucky that another human being was not hurt in these incidences. We have replaced 2 bumpers and now looking at a 3rd one.

Upon braking hard to avoid hitting vehicles braking abruptly in front of me, all four wheels of my vehicle locked up and just slid on dry pavement. Anti-lock brakes didn't work as designed. There was no pedal pulsation or ratcheting noise as usual with anti-lock brakes working properly. Should have been able to stop safely if they were working properly. Dealer said if warning light wasn't on then they were operating properly.

Antilock brakes activate without cause. This causes longer stopping distances. This was repaired with existing recall and problem is recurring.
Upon entering parking space at work abs system came on for no reason causing vehicle to lunge forward threw fence.
Anti-lock braking system engages during low speed stops-even on dry roads. Stopping distance is unpredictable. This is a recall item on silverado's and yukon's of different model years. I have the same problem. We live in a salt road environment.

Own a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4wd - the anti lock brake system repeatedly engaged at slow speeds, less than 10 mph when coming to a stop, making it difficult to stop. Truck was unsafe to drive ,and had to have repaired. This was the same problem that initiated a recall 05v37900 on 2002 and earlier models. This same problem was now occurring on my 2003 model , but this was not covered by any recall. My truck only has 13,000 miles. Last summer when the vehicle only had 11,000 miles the entire brake assembly area rusted , leading to replacement of all the brake assemblies and rotors. The truck was only a few months out of warranty. This vehicle has a serious rust problem, and it was making the brakes very dangerous.
Anti-lock brakes do not work properly. If I am going slow and need to stop fast the brakes are like I am on ice. I have rolled into several red lights. If I am on rough road they do not work correctly.
