Started truck and immediately traction control, malfunction indicator lamp, and brake light appeared on dash. Messages also appeared saying the vehicle will not exceed 43 mph, and that the brake system had failed. Avoided expressway going home, and was not able to exceed 43 mph. Next day Chevrolet roadside assistance towed truck to riverside Chevrolet, wetumpka, al. Service rep said master cylinder "came apart" and nothing like this was seen before (they sell and service a lot of trucks). Master cylinder replaced. Drove truck home about 25 miles and brakes worked fine. Will update if problem happens again.

I am an oil field inspector and in my truck all day long. When shifting into drive from a stopped position and start moving forward, the back brakes lock up and the parking brake light comes on for the brakes locking up. This is the 2nd time it has happened and a dealership in portland TX replaced the computer and master cylinder. Saftey issue due to my traveling alot and truck is still under warranty. I would like Chevrolet to replace my truck with a safe and reliable pickup.
Tl-the contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when driving at 40mph when the contact attempted to bring the vehicle to a complete stop for traffic light the brake pedal went to the floor board, the contact had to depressed the brake pedal several times to be able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and the brake failure light illuminated and on the instrumental panel and advised 62mph top speed. The vehicle was towed to freedom Chevrolet 13483 I-10 west, san antonio, TX 78249 phone number 210- 697-6078. For inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 42,250. Li.
1 owner. Never driven on salted roads(south louisiana). Live 100 miles from coastline, not in a saltwater environment. Or driven in water other than rain. Cruise control dropping out, automatic transmission not shifting when supposed to. Traction control dropping out, service messages cycling in and out--traction control, stabilitrac , anti-lock brakes, check engine light, red brake light comes on and off. Speedometer going crazy. Brought vehicle to gm dealer for inspection/repair. Cause- internal failure of ecbm-electronic brake control module, due to corrosion in the connector due to water intrusion. Had to replace the module, and the vehicle chassis wiring harness. Total repair was $1,830. 39 for parts and labor. The dealer reported to me that the design/installation location of this module is flawed, and a faulty design allowed moisture to get into the module thru the connector. Which also resulted in the wiring harness connections into the ecbm also becoming corroded. . Dealer also told me that this faulty design will eventually become a recall, and for me to keep my invoice of this repair, as to be able to claim a reimbursement for this repair.

Brake system failure: September 16, 2018 rear brake line snapped while driving causing immediate loss of brake fluid and loss of braking. Owner was driving 20 mph on dirt road and was able to stop vehicle using 4wheel drive low. Brake line was replaced 9/18/2018 and the mechanic noted he'd never seen anything snap like that before without evidence of direct damage. On inspection brake fluid was corroded despite having been recently changed out. Brake system second failure: on April 16, 2019 vehicle failed to come to a stop while owner was braking for a stop sign. Vehicle slowed but didn't stop despite brakes applied. Owner was ticketed for failure to stop. Owner on turning vehicle on after traffic stop saw abs light now on (wasn't on prior to this) and on braking to turn vehicle then failed to brake completely at which point both abs dash light and red brake warning lights came on. Owner again stopped vehicle using 4 wheel drive low. Owner immediately inspected vehicle's brake fluid levels and found fluid was again low despite having just been serviced on April 10, 2019 with engine replacement and brake inspection. Owner added fluid, looked for leaks and on "pumping up the brakes" felt sufficient pressure to then take the vehicle back to the repair shop that replaced the engine and inspected brakes 6 days prior. The vehicle was evaluated by licensed mechanics and determined to have had abs module failure, brake fluid failure (again) and complete brake system failure. The abs control module was repaired/replaced, brake fluid was evacuated, flushed and replaced. The vehicle has been maintained with regular brake system maintenance. It has not been abused or subject to any conditions that would cause the type of brake system failures that it is experiencing. Because of VIN for this vehicle it was not included in gm recall for vehicles having these problems.

Brakes became incredibly hard and almost did not stop my truck three times now. Finally, this last time the service brake assist light came on. I have previously taken my truck to the dealer twice and they saw nothing wrong with it. I am hoping they will now that the warning came on. I have come very close to hitting other cars because of this and hope it can be fixed. This happened every time as I was parking my truck at very slow speeds (thankfully).

The trailer brake system light keeps coming on and I have never hooked up to a trailer that has brakes. This lights comes on sporadically. Concerned as I have heard that Chevrolet uses too light of wire in their light trucks. The truck is in motion when this happens. It comes on in all driving conditions (city, freeway, highways, gravel roads. . . ).
I have to increase pressure on the brake pedal to slow it down the break pedal get stiff hard to stop and I have to use an increased stopping distance. My service brake assist light came on on my dash. . . And it appears it is getting worse. ## VIN passed ## chevorlet Silverado 1500 ##.

My brake assist light kept coming on, and when I would be going at a low speed and applying the brake, the brake peddle would get very hard and stiff. I would have to apply all possible weight I can in order to get the vehicle to stop. I was informed today that a vacuum pump is causing this issue, and needs to be replaced. The dealership told me that this is becoming a common problem that they are seeing. This is very dangerous, as I could have easily hit somebody, or been unable to stop when backing into my garage. If it had been my wife driving, I don't know if she would have been able to get it stopped with how hard I was having to press the brakes repeatedly. This happened while in a parking lot in motion, and also while backing into my garage.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the steering icon flashed with a lock, the brake light had flashed and then various warning indicators flickered on the dashboard when the failures happened. There was an intermittent failure with an abnormal steering condition felt (seized) when the steering wheel had been turned to the left. In addition, the brakes had failed to properly function so the contact applied force to ensure that there was a complete stop. The dealer team lake road auto sales, 13988 conneaut lake rd, conneaut lake, PA 16316, (814) 382-9336 was notified of the failures, had the vehicle for longer than 3 weeks, a loaner was provided however, the contact had not received any specific technical guidelines for the repairs. The dealer released the vehicle back to the owner and the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where as a second loaner vehicle was provided however, the vehicle was given back with no repair remedy. The contact was uncertain if the failures may result in a catastrophic crash. The dealer had indicated that the vehicle was serviced before the vehicle was purchased for NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the contact let the dealer know several times that the remedy failed to provide a permanent fix but received no recourse from the dealership. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: pe18012 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes). The manufacturer had not issued any brake system recalls for this year, make and model but had issued 4 electrical system recalls, 2 steering recalls however the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the multiple failures to determine the guidelines to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

While driving on a divided 4 lane highway at night, several deer ran in the pat( of our vehicle. I applied the brakes, snd they went all the way to the floor. We slowed down but were unable to stop. Luckily therevwas no one beside us and we were able to avoid the last deer by swerving into the left lane. I could ell there was no pressure in my brake pedal after that. We were about 20 miles from home but I only had 2 more stop signs until our residence. The brake warning lights on the dash didnt come on until less than 1/4 mile from my house. There was also an audible alarm at that time. Was able to coast into my driveway and get stopped from there. The mechanic said the brake lines were corroded and one had burst. The additional stress cause by the rupturing of the line then affected the other lines. I had to pay to replace all the brake lines before it was safe to drive again.
While towing a heavy trailer at 30 mph, I attempted to stop at a red light. With no brake warning light, the brake pedal went to the floor and I had no braking whatever. I stomped on the emergency brake and nothing happened. I was able to take a hard right turn to avoid a collision and coasted to a stop. Looking down, there was a trail of brake fluid leading to a large puddle under the driver's door. Looking under the truck revealed that incredibly rusted brakes lines had burst, draining the entire contents of the fluid reservoir. Closer inspection showed that every foot of brake line under the truck was in similar condition! after towing it home, I discover why the e-brake failed; the cable was rusted solid. I had to order a complete brake line kit and spent the entire weekend replacing them. It was then that I found out that thousands of owners have been fighting gm to make good on this defect. We narrowly escaped a serious accident and spent a considerable amount of time and money, besides having to borrow a vehicle to get to work for a week.

Steel brake line failure where lines run between frame and front drivers side cab mount. From the dealer that replaced the lines, there was a pin hole in the line. I have the parts. Went to stop at a red light in the middle lane of a 6 lane divided highway at 5:15pm. The light changed and I braked hard from 50 mph. Just before the truck was to stop at the stop line, the brake pedal went to the floor and the truck continued through the red light into the middle of the intersection where it came to a stop. I was the first vehicle at the light, there was one car to my right in the right lane and two cars side by side at the jug handle to my right waiting to cross the six lane state highway. It was just dumb luck there wasn't a vehicle in front of me. Two seconds later the cross traffic would have broadsided me and another second later I would have broadsided the cross traffic. This state highway is infamous in the county for pedestrian fatalities. There were no warnings of the failure and no brake warning lights on the dash. I moved the truck through the red light and over to the far right lane and tested the braking. I had very minimal braking. I had driven the vehicle approximately 50 miles before this happened with two incidents of hard braking with no issues. I was less than a 1/4 mile from my home. Limped home at low speed with my emergency flashers on. Had truck towed from my home to the Chevrolet dealer for repair. Recommended replacing all steel brake lines due to the failure and rust on the lines. $1300 for coated steel brake line replacements plus two front calipers because the hex on the bleed screws was completely rusted away. Last serviced at the dealer on 4/8/14 and only driven 1763 miles since that service. On the inspection report the dealer had checked the yellow warning on brake system and just noted brakes have rust buildup, no leaks.

At less than 18000 odometer miles, the dtc co265-ebcm motor relay circuit had a fault. The three: abs, brake and service brake now lights came on. On 1/12/2015 the rusted ebcm ground had been removed and cleaned as per the 2003 Chevrolet k silverado - 4wd service manual document id:2245394. This procedure didn't solve the brake light problem. The system is apparently the same in 1999 to 2007 silverado yet gm only recalled and replaced components through the 2002 model. It appears to me to be another gm manufacturing cover up and NHTSA should be pressing gm to cover this situation. Brakes are good to have in minnesota abs brakes even better, I paid for them, but they were not provided by gm!.

I have had this problem occasionally since I bought the truck new, but recently it started to do the same thing on a regular basis. Start the truck and it's fine, but go to shift into gear and the service engine, service traction control, and service abs lights and messages come on the dash. Today, I pressed the brakes while driving it and heard a click when I did so, so I pulled over and checked and found that if I push my brake pedal very far, my brake lights went out. I just had my vehicle serviced and inspected at the gm dealership about 9 months/5,000 miles ago. Hopefully this truck doesn't get me or my wife into a fatal accident. . .

I was driving my 2003 chevy Silverado 1500 pulling a 27 foot camper to a weekend camping destination along with my family including two young children. Upon our arrival at the campground, I applied the brakes, the brake light came on, and my foot and brake pedal went entirely to the floor! I had total brake failure with no warning! I believe the brakes on my travel trailer somewhat aided in slowly bringing my truck to a stop as I pulled into our weekend camping destination. Upon a visual inspection of the brake lines, the steel brake lines are entirely coated with rust throughout the entire truck. The steel brake line had ruptured due to rust which caused immediate total loss of my trucks braking system. Fortunately, we were not driving in the hills at higher speeds while pulling my 6000 lb camper during our route to our family camping destination. I had young children in the car, and one strapped in a car seat. Thank god the total brake failure did not happen while going downhill with pulling the camper through some of the very steep hills of southern indiana! when will g. M. Issue a recall on these dangerous steel brake lines that are entirely rusting through? children and my family could have seriously been injured or died during a weekend camping trip due to this total brake line failure! at current time, I have contacted chevy dealerships, they estimate a cost of $1500 - $2000 to replace all the rusty brake lines and to make this truck safe again! I can not afford to repair this truck and put it back into a working safe driving condition at this time. I can only express my concerns and hope people do not get injured or die from a total brake failure caused by g. M. S rusty brake lines on automobiles similar to mine. Why can we not get g. M. To recall these faulty brake lines or provide some assistance to aid with replacement cost to make these automobiles safe again?.
Driving home from work, went to stop at stop light, brakes went to the floor and no brake light. Called g. M. They put me in a phone loop nothing resolved.
Brakes seemed soft while driving on mountain roads yesterday. This morning puddle under the driver side door and brakes went to the floor. No brake warning lights came on. Hour later when tow truck came, moved truck for towing and brake warning light came on. It did not want to stop with brakes - rolled to stop. Had it towed to dealer who is checking for the reason for the leak. Not repaired yet - waiting for dealer to get back to me.
I was driving on my way home from work going 45mph when I saw a car a short distance ahead pull out onto the road. I tried to apply my brakes as the car ahead did not reach the speed limit fast enough. My brake pedal went straight down to the floor and all braking ability was lost. I lifted my foot to try to apply the pedal again and again the pedal went straight to the floor. I nearly crashed into the car ahead of me and had to swerve off of the road to avoid causing an accident. It was only after a long distance of riding on the shoulder and downshifting that I was able to come to a stop. Only just as I was stopping did the brake light and abs light illuminate on the dash. I had no warning that this was going to happen or that I had lost my brakes, other than the pedal going to the floor. Before this, the brakes worked perfectly. Had I not had the room to swerve out of the way, I would have been in a potentially lethal accident and one or more lives could have been lost.
While driving the stabilitrak light came on and then the abs light. It stayed on, so I took it to a mechanic who determined it was the brake switch and he replaced it. It has been fine until recently, when it came on again and my brake lights were sticking on, so I replaced the brake switch again. So, far it's stayed off. My concern is that my truck my start having the same issues as our other gm vehicle, which also involves the stabilitrak/traction control/reduced power lights coming on. Reduced power is dangerous while driving, especially on the interstate in heavy traffic. I have read gm forums and have found that this problem has been happening as far back as 6 years, and gm still has not figured out how to fix it.
I bought a 2005 silverado from my mother, and she bought the truck off of a used dealer lot purchasing for 12,500 four years ago. Since then the truck has had an air bag sensor replaced and it once again showing the air bag needs serviced, which can be very dangerous to truck owners in situations of a crash. Was told they go out commonly. The truck has also had an abs issue since it was purchased on the lot, we sent it back to be fixed, and the issue was never solved, it has been looked at by three technicians. This is also a public safety hazard if the abs causes the brakes to fail. The truck also has numerous electrical issues, such as the gear selector does not illuminate, in which case someone may not be able to determine what gear they are in and cause an incident, the headlight, tail light, brake light, and marker lights are always blowing bulbs, the dash cluster doesn't always want to illuminate either, this could cause a crash especially at dark when you cannot see the rpm, speedo, oil press, temp, or any other gage present.

Monday morning I took my son to school. Monday afternoon I got in the truck went to push the brake and the pedal pushed all the way down to the floor. After that the parking brake light came on ( I didn't engage the parking brake). I checked the brake fluid I didn't have any. After inspection my husband found a leak in the brake line. It was rusted and worn. I understand the truck has a lot of miles. However I did not get any warning light or abs light, nothing. I was very lucky I was driving with my son. After my husband replaced the line, he checked for leaks the following day. There were none. We started bleeding the brakes and another line starting leaking.

Had a complete failure of the braking system when pulling into a convenience store. Pedal went to the floor and brake light came on, but appeared to have a small amount of residual braking on front wheels. Upon inspection the left rear brake line had rusted through. Went straight to garage for repair and was told that all brake lines were in danger of rusting through in several spots. Also entire undercarriage is badly rusted as to rotors, shocks and such. Actually had all rotors replaced about three years ago at Chevrolet dealer in order for truck to pass the state inspection. Have other vehicles even older than this truck with no apparent problems with rust under them. Was told by garage mechanic that he has seen a very large number of chevy trucks of this vintage with same problems. It's a shame, because this truck looks almost new in every other aspect.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The contact mentioned that the emergency brake was required in order to stop the vehicle and that the brake warning light failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake lines were fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 152,000.

I had travelled approximately 1/2 mile from my house when I applied the brakes to slow down. The pedal had barely any pressure as I applied the brake, fortunately I had a little bit of pressure and I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop, by a combination of downshifting and using what little brakes that I had left. The brake warning light on the panel came on at that time. The vehicle was taken to a local shop to have the problem checked out. I was told that my brake lines were completely rusted out and that they all had to be replaced. I was approximately 1/8 of a mile from my entrance to the highway, and I was fortunate that this happened before I got on the highway. I would have been in congested morning traffic travelling at a speed of 60mph. I had no prior warning. I was told by the repair shop that the lines were rusted so bad that it was senseless to try to fix just one section, and that if they did that I would be returning shortly to repair additional parts of the lines. They told me that this was a very labor intensive repair and that it could cost approximately $1000 dollars. I was also told that this was a common problem with many Chevrolets manufactured in the 2000 years. This is a very dangerous situation and their should have been a recall on this issue.

Stopped to get gas. As I was pulling out the lot, brakes went to the floor. Tried to pump brakes to pressurize. I decided to pull over. As I was turning off road to investigate I heard a loud pop. Check brake light and audible came on. Pulled over immediately only to discover brake line had ruptured. Further investigation revealed all brake line tubings were severely corroded. Chevy had finally made wise decision to go stainless steel for exhaust system. Puzzling why they did not make same decision for the brake lines. Brake system is critical safety item that should mandate highest safety measures. Not the exhaust system! I was fortunate failure did not occur on the highway. I was able to tow the vehicle to dealer for repair. While pulling into parking stall at the dealer, I heard another loud pop. And even though my foot was on brakes, the truck began to accelerate. I had to put the truck in park to stop. It appear there was just enough stopping power to get off the road. Must advise anyone who experience this not to attempt to drive home! no matter how close. I was considering this option. Good thing my good sense prevailed.
