In 2024, I noticed that my truck was experiencing rough shifts. It felt as if the back wheels were jerking over uneven ground, even though the vehicle was on a flat surface. In November 2024, my sister sent me an article about general motors' massive recall due to rear wheel lock-up, which increased the risk of crashes. I contacted gm and learned that my truck was part of the recall. I reported the issues my truck was exhibiting, and gm instructed me to reach out to my dealer about the problem. However, I was informed that they did not have the parts to fix the issue and had no idea when they would receive them. I asked gm if they would provide me with a rental vehicle, but they declined, stating that if they offered a rental to me, they would have to provide one for others as well, which was not feasible due to the large number of affected vehicles. I explained that my truck is my daily driver for work, and I frequently transport my grandchildren in it. Driving the truck was hazardous given the issues it was already exhibiting. I was told to contact my dealer, and since my truck was under warranty, they should provide me with a rental. When I requested to speak with a manager, I was informed that they would only reiterate the same information. I then contacted my dealer, sapaugh gm country, located at 1435 mcnutt st. , herculaneum, mo. I was informed that they do not have the parts. But they did a minor tweak which has caused more damage to my powertrain and engine.
We just arrived to our out to town destination and exited the vehicle. We drove 80 miles to get there. The truck was running when we noticed white smoke coming from under the hood then immediately large red flames.
Complete engine and emission fail while driving. Complete loss of power. Created a serious safety issue while driving due to other traffic and inability to move vehicle from road side to safe area. Problem was confirmed by mechanic. Contact to GMC resulted in no response. Mechanic has reported numerous other GMC trucks with the same issue. Check engine light came on shortly before and then went off again. Contact was made with dealer as well as GMC directly regarding the issue.

Vehicle was towing horse trailer. Gave an indication message to check trailer break wiring. I did so and all was working fine. I loaded my horses and pulled out onto the road. Traveling 10 mph the truck completely shut off, no brakes, no warning, I helplessly rolled to a stop. The truck then turned on electrically, but did not start the engine completely by itself. Two minutes later, the truck turned itself off electrically. The motor was never running. I had it towed to a dealership in which it took them five days to repair. The truck has 17,000 miles on it. If I would’ve been traveling on the expressway or going any faster, I could’ve killed people. . I personally have ptsd from ever driving this truck hooked to a trailer again. There should have been some kind of warning system. I should have never lost my brakes. I purchased this truck as a towing vehicle from my horse trailer and now I am terrified to use it!.

The 6. 6l v8 lml turbodiesel duramax engine bosch cp4 fuel pump failed. U. S. Diesel fuel does not provide adequate lubrication for the cp4 fuel pump. The lack of lubrication led to internal fuel pump damage and resulted in metal shavings that damaged the pump, the fuel system, and the gm duramax engine as well. There was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

The fuel pump has put metal shaving all through my fuel system and it is available for inspection if anyone is interested in taking a look at it. It made my truck die in the middle of the highway. It put me and a lot of others in danger! autonation Chevrolet seen and confirmed and said it was because the cp4 fuel pump isn’t compatible with my truck and that a class action was just granted over this in 5 states. The Chevrolet dealership inspected the component. Only light that came on was change fuel filter and I got it changed just a day or two before it died on me.

While trying to jumpstart the battery the factory gm battery exploded send battery acid flying everywhere. Causing chemical burns. Ring video available of incident.
My 2016 chevy at a stop light started jerking and then just shut off and wouldn’t start again. I had to have it towed and was told at the repair shop that it was the cp4 fuel pump that went. Of course I had them do all the repairs and they found metal shavings all through out the fuel system. I was without my truck for weeks and had to pay ridiculous cost of almost $13,000. With how often this is happening this should all be reimbursed to me and gm needs to step up and take care of it along with NHTSA.
On July 1st, 2023, I purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from orielly Chevrolet in tucson, arizona. On July 2nd, 2023, an error message popped up on the dash, “park assist blocked see owner’s manual”. It continued to happen on and off til this very day. The dealership "attempted" to fix the issue, but it obviously hasn't been resolved. Due to equipment being faulty, the chances of an accident whilst back up are significantly increased. At one point on this ordeal, the truck was in the shop for 61 days. It had been in my possession for 18 days. I am currently in the process of a buyback for the vehicle. I had to hire a lemon law attorney. A supervisor from gm advised that gm is refusing a buy back for the vehicle. The vehicle also displayed an error, "key not found" while I was driving at 50mph. A bit unsettling. That error showed up twice on the dash. The dealership said they fixed the issue with a software update. Recently, the vehicle has a ticking noise on the left side of the engine, and the engine idles so low, that it feels like it's going to stall. Those issues haven't been addressed at the shop, because I start a new job on Monday(12/4) and had to drive over 2k miles to get here. Thankfully the truck made it. Not a concern I should have with a brand new vehicle.
I was almost run over by a semi-truck when entering the freeway because my 2022 Chevrolet truck would not accelerate. I was told at the dealer the loss of power was intentionally caused by the onboard computer. It is programed by the manufacturer to do this anytime certain repairs may be needed. In my case, the life-threatening event I experienced took place because a sensor went out and the computer thought a repair was needed.

The engine glow plugs keep failing, I have replaced 4 already and 2 more are now failed. The vehicle only has 66k miles on it currently and the failures started around 50k. I do not understand why this hasn't been recalled like the 2018 trucks, they share the exact same engine.

The transmission control module failed causing the vehicle to loose power and operate only in "limp mode". General motors does not have a replacement module available, leaving the vehicle inoperable. Gm has no reliable information as to when a module will be available. I had to use a third party service to try and repair the module for a cost of over $1,200. This seems to be a common problem with the 2008-20015 gm duramax with the allison transmission.

Vehicle has, on multiple occasions, had blinker lights flicker while vehicle is turned off. Vehicle has locked by itself, without anyone touching the lock buttons. Vehicle has had multiple issues with the fuel injectors, where the vehicle will read “reduced power engine. ” vehicle has been to a Chevrolet dealership for repair, although the issue still persists. I believe there is an electrical circuit issue with this vehicle, and there has been recalls on this model for exact reasons.

July 2022 dpf filter was throwing check engine light. Took to dealer to get diagnosed, part was ordered and the dpf was replaced August 19th 2022. Started to get headaches in vehicle while driving it. Oct 9th ended up in hospital after driving vehicle and was diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning. Experienced symptoms of losing consciousness, worst headache I've ever had, nausea for 5 hours, loss of feeling in body and seizing of body. Took truck to dealer to get inspected twice and nothing was found to be wrong with it. Nov 10th took truck on another road trip and was having similar symptoms as before however had more chest pain this time so went back to hospital. Took truck back to dealer to have inspected again and was told that it was fine. Nov 18th took truck on another road trip and within 20 mins of driving had another horrible headache. Pulled over and needed to get air and ended up driving truck 4 hours home with windows and sunroof open to avoid getting carbon monoxide poisoning again. I have been ill since August and that is due to diesel and carbon monoxide poisoning every single time I drive the vehicle which is daily. The truck has been now at the dealership for 70 days without any update or improvement in the case.

Fuel pump failure while driving highway speed 70mph pulling a trailer. Engine light came on and engine went to limp mode for a few seconds then completely shut down without warning while still going at least 60. Lost power steering and power brakes. Service center confirmed the code for "low fuel rail pressure" and did the repair. I have retained the cp4 pump for analysis. I was very lucky to not crash my truck.
