My truck is a 2004 chevy Silverado 2500 with 94000 miles and the rear driver side exhaust manifold bolt head is busted off. This is not the only chevy/GMC 4. 8,5. 3 or 6. 0 engine that has this problem. Millions of others have this same problem and from this failure it can lead to future emission problems, catalytic converter problems, exhaust leak in the engine compartment leading to exhaust fumes being leaked into the cab of the vehicle which would be carbon monoxide poisoning. This is a major issue that gm should take care of as a recall !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd. Consumer states gauges stopped working and the bolts on the manifold were defective.
The rear exhaust manifold bolts are broken on my truck. From a few shops I talked to this happens to a lot of gm v8's like my 6. 0l. One exhaust shop told me every "silverado/seirra" with a v8 around 1999-2002 has one or more manifold bolt broke off. I just cant imagine that gm can send out vehicles that they know are defective. They fixed this on later models with larger manifold bolts. But screw the guy who has an older truck, right? this should be investigated, and gm should be forced to repair this at no cost or a discounted cost.

I took my 2005 Chevrolet silverado pick up in for a exhaust leak. The manifold bolts rotted away. 3 bolts holding right and left exhaust manifolds in place. Vary very unsafe, one good bump in the road and it would drop. Vehicles with less than 30,000 miles have the same problem. Gm knows about the problem and should have contacted it's customers. Vary dangerous. Fire, accident or exhaust fumes. Not good at all!!.

Exhaust manifold bolts are broken off on both sides of the 6. 0 engine, causing exhaust fumes in the passenger compartment when I driving the vehicle. I have owned this vehicle since new and have never had any engine work done to this vehicle.

Four exhaust manifold bolts have broken off since I've owned this truck and the manifold has cracked. It is a design flaw that occurs in many of the similar v8 equipped models and has been well documented on the internet. This should be recalled by gm. This problem also leads to faulty emission readings by the vehicle and the check engine light will go on and remain on until this expensive problem is fixed.
My 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd had broken exhaust manifold bolts. Repaired at 87,000 miles. Went to dealership today because of exhaust leak and was told there are more broken bolts at 136,000. Obviously there is a defect. Unsafe/raw exhaust leaking into air and cab.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that exhaust fumes were emitted from the vehicle in an unusual fashion and entered into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the engine manifold was warped because the bolts were corroded. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred approximately two years later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was repaired a second time for the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 87,000.
This truck has had an exhaust tic for many years. I just thought it was a lifter noise when in all reality while changing spark plug and wires about 2 months back I found the broken exhaust manifold bolts. Upon furture research on the web I found this is an issue on 80% of these gm trucks. I think there should be a recall because of possible carbon monoxide poisoning while operating these vehicles and the emision problems encountered. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
