I have a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe with an abs brake module failure. The motor/pump that controls the abs brakes won't turn off. It keeps running even when the ignition is turned off. My abs light turns on and abs brakes are now not operative. I read many complaints on this issue on 2001 model chevy/GMC full size SUV/pickups. I think this is a safety concern that should be addressed immediately to prevent accidents and deaths due to abs brake failures.
Replacement front brake rotors installed on a 1999 chevy Tahoe 2 door and driven approximately 100 miles in 15 mile increments resulted in significant intereference wear between the disc brake pad backing plates and the cylindrical portion of the brake rotors, with significant heat generation, noise, and odor. Subsequent inspection of the replacement rotors and the oem rotors revealed that the replacement rotors diameter of the cylindrical portion that covers the vehicle hub were approximately 3/16 larger diameter than the oem rotors. Replacement rotors have been returned to the seller, paul do at cquencemotorsports, 4933 pearce street, apt. B, huntington beach, CA 92649. I believe the rotors were manufactured in china, their part number is 5569 min thk 30. 86mm pt14 bt. Fortunately, the problem was discovered before significant vehicle damage occured. The stock rotors were reinstalled without interference. Old part unavailable, it was returned to seller under warranty.
Rear brake rotors are comming apart, sections of the rotors are missing.

While braking consumer heard a loud noise coming from the brakes. Dealership informed consumer that the problem pertained to cracks on all four rotors. The problem was not resolved.
I have a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe 4x4 lt. In the last few months I have had to replace the front brake pads and rotors every 5,000 miles. I am now looking to spend another $600 to replace them again. I have had them looked at each time, and I am told there is nothing wrong with the calipers and they have no reason as to why the rotors are being warped. The most recent time I took in the Tahoe I was told the rotors were blue due to the heat from the pads, but again there is nothing wrong with the calipers or anything else. I have not been carrying any heavy loads in the vehicle, or driving hard. Most of the miles are from driving on the highway. I have never taken it off roading.
While driving at normal speed consumer applied the brakes, and there were no brakes. An independent repair shop replaced all four rotors. Consumer paid $1,200. 00 for repairs.
The front brake rotor/hubs failed while driving vehicle. The brake rotors were replaced by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not under recall #98v033000. Please provide more information.

Consumer's vehicle has the same problem as mentioned in recall 98v033000 concerning brake:disc:rotors. Dealer would not repair because VIN was not included.
My friend deputy sgt. Perkins of the garfield county sheriff's office drives a 2000chevy Tahoe. As his "office" for up to 18 hours a day. He has had nothing but trouble with it since the county purchased it and assigned it to him. The brake system has failed 4 times since this January alone. Chevy refuses to see the danger with this. Deputy perkins' wife has filed complaints as has danny himself. \ with all of us getting the same "it's too old and you are the only ones to say anything about it.
When the brake was applied, the vehicle stopped abruptly. The next day, the front left wheel started to shake, the dealer stated the front rotor had sheared off from the mounting bolt. There was a recall regarding the issue, recall # 98v033000, however the vehicle identification number was not included.
The rotors experienced premature wear, which caused vehicle to experience extended stopping distance.
Consumer state that the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes. Dealer was notified and replaces the front rotors and the pads on four separated occasions and the problem still reoccurring. (as I mentioned VIN# please fill in) ts.
Pebbles got into brakes drums, causing the rotors to strip ,resulting in lost of brakes power.
When applying brakes there is a pulsating noise due to warped rotors. Dealership is aware of problem.
Left front brake rotor separated. That is to say, the disc actually separated from the hub. The separation caused loss of braking on that wheel. The vehicle pulls hard toward the right(because of the remaining active brake). Concerns: an inexperianced driver may have rolled the vehicle with the sudden hard pull to the right; had both rotors failed at the same time, a complete loss of front brakes would have been the result. I have the failed part. The repair shop who fixed the vehicle told me they see this kind of failure on a regular basis. Thus type of composite rotor is common on many gm vehicles. Having experianced the failure, I can't help but wonder if crashes may have been caused by the rotor failure, but the "broken" rotor could have been assumed to be a result of the crash? I have not contacted gm at this point. I have several complaints concerning this vehicle I am attepmting to address with gm, but for the most part am being told the vehicle is out of warrenty. This is a safety issue that I felt NHTSA should be aware of, and will, hopefully, look into. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Experienced excessive vibration when braking. Mechanic advised that rotors were warped and needed to be turned. This was done but problem reoccurred after less than 5,000 mi. Advised this time that rotors are warped again and need to be replaced, probably due to "the way I drive". I have never had this happen with other vehicles. After asking that they look further for a cause, I am told that this is normal wear and tear. After pushing a little harder, I am finally advised that the rotors on this year/model are prone to warping and should be replaced, but are not covered by warranty even though I puchased extended warranty. I am told that the gm replacement part will be identical to original. Rear brakes were screeching @27489 mi (I purchased at 23326 mi). Told that shoes nead replcmt due to wear. I, nor anyone I have spoken with have heard of rear brake shoes wearing out at this low mileage.
Rotors went bad, they kept wearing out. Had rotors changed twice. Contacted dealer noted that there was no problem.
Rotors causing surging and premature brake wear, and squealing.
Brake booster malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which could result in a crash. Also, dealer replaced brake rotors. Please provide further information.
Steering was like on ice, had to replace steering sensor, front disc rotors warped twice, had to replace.
Rotors replaced, turned frequently. Repair facility says this frequently happens with gm cars. Is there a solution?is this dangerous? the vehicle vibrates in the front end when the brakes are applied unless rotors are new or just turned.
Vehicle experiencing ongoing problem with both front rotors overheating, and causing rotors to warp. Dealer/manufacturer notified.
While braking vehicle would shake / vibrate due to defective brake rotors which heats up and warp. Dealer replaced rotors twice. Problem is reoccurring.
Consumer was traveling on highway and veered over to the shoulder to avoid hitting another vehicle. When consumer applied brakes, pedal was soft and went all the way to the floor. Also, there was vibration. In addition, steering wheel pulled back and forth, due to rotor failure.
Brake rotors became warped at 15,000, causing the brakes to be inoperative. It also may reduce braking ability and cause an accident. Replaced rotors 3 times. Cause unknown. Please provide details.
Rotors failed, causing vibration.
Complaint regarding front brake rotor separation on 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe. The rotors separated under normal braking conditions. The consumer contacted the manufacturer who indicated that the separation occured due to age and/or wear. The rotor separated at the steel hub section attached to the cast iron section and blew apart.
This 1999 Tahoe is about to undrgo the fifth brake job. The first for wapred rotors occurred at 1300 miles, the second at 18000 miles, the third at 23000 miles, the fourth at 26000 miles and now, the fifth at 36500 miles. Each time I have hd to fight with dealership to get anything done. Chevrolet insist nothing is wrong with these vehicles. A vehicle this expensive should not be having this many problems. "normal driving" does not cause this problem. I have not had these problems with any other vehicle I have owned. Chevrolet needs to take responsibility for this defective braking system. I have lost days from work having this fixed again and again. I will certainly think carefully before buying another Chevrolet.
The front disc brake rotors separated from the mounting bracket, and the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately when the pad was depressed. This resulted in extended stopping distance. (the right side front disc brake rotor).
