1 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

After approximately 3 weeks after purchasing I notice a noise and a delay in gear shifts so I took it to the dealership and they had their mechanic look at it and came up with the transmission was bad so they ordered one and tried to install it and when I went to pick it up and drove it several days the same problem was there so I took it back and they continued to try and fix it two other times within 3 months now saying I went over my 10,000 miles so I need to pay for the transmission. I drive the car maybe 5 months and the other months it has been in the shop.

2 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/07/2013

I recently experienced a known electrical issue for the first time yesterday. I just had my Tahoe at the dealer last week for strange clacking noise under the hood. They stated I would just have to wait until it did it again. Yesterday everything went haywire and my Tahoe appeared possessed. Door locks, gearing shifting was affected making it difficult to drive and steer due to loss of power steering, which could have caused serious risk to others around me and my two children in the car. Turning to the internet and finding that I am one of what is probably thousands complaining of the same issue makes my extremely concerned that gm is not looking out for its current and future customers. I will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office, ntsb and now with the state of nc immediately. Not only have we dealt with this issue. We have long dealt with the oil consumption issue that gm continues to say is "normal" consumption. Extremely disappointed in gm and how they are handling major component issues. We also own a Jeep wrangler and they are been absolutely amazing anytime we have an addressable issue.

4 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 05/07/2007

I have a brand new 2007 chevy Tahoe, the car was driving normal, I was heading to the on ramp of the freeway, but to get into the freeway I had to make a right and then the on ramp is in front of me. Of course you also had cars coming from the right of me. When I saw a gap where I could go, I floored the gas, to go into the freeway, when I heard a loud noise, and all of the sudden the car slowed down. I had to think quick being that the car was an automatic, I shifted to a lower gear, the car started moving but it was making a grinding noise. I finally got out of the way. And I called onstar, my transmission had given. On a 6 month old 2007 Tahoe. They took it to the dealer, at the dealership they replaced a gear inside the transmission, to no avail. Finally they ended up replacing the whole transmission, because they couldn't figure what was wrong the car. No warning lights or nothing. The guy at the dealership told me, that this was so weird that the techs in michigan wanted the whole transmission shipped to them. They had the SUV for a total of 21 days.

6 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 09/12/2003

I have a 2002 Tahoe that just turned 41k miles. I experienced on a few occasions while accelerating from a stop that the vehicle seemed to lose acceleration for a second or so before re-engaging and resuming normal acceleration. Problem was definitely transmission related. This same incident happened to me but this time the engine revved, acceleration diminished, and loud banging tumbling metal noise was heard. Ends up the transmission mechanism that causes the transmission to shift failed and broke apart breaking other internal components. Transmission has to be rebuilt. Gm customer service was helpful but still have to pay for 50% of repair cost for rebuilt transmission. The vehicle has a tow package and has never towed a thing yet. Obviously a problem this grand in a vehicle did not happen overnight and it appears this problem is similar to other transmission complaints on the same vehicle. This should really be looked at by those that know.

8 Noises During Shifting problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 08/15/2003

Transmission: I believe the part is called the reverse drum in the transmission. The car would not reverse and had a difficult time shifting from 1rst to 2nd. The first transmission went out at 32,700 miles and replaced by gm (under warranty) with rebuilt transmission from factory per gm, for same problem, shifting and reverse. Since car manufactured in 1997 this is it's third transmission and it has less than 66k miles on it and is used 99% of the time for open road trips only. When I had this problem again I was driving on an open highway (road trip). Per repair shop mechanic: reverse drum was defective, cheaply built and constructed to fail. Also, my vehicle transmission was the mechanic's 16th Chevrolet transmission repair for the same problem on Chevrolet vehicles in the last couple of years. He knew what the problem was when I explained what had happened noises, and how it drove, reverse etc. . . And he verified same by the transmission check and work performed. He saved the part for me, which I have in my possession. Gm would not participate in any of the cost of repairs since I decided not to let them tear the transmission down @ $300. 00 cost to me to determine the problem, and , if I decided I wanted someone else to do the work, they would have to come pick the broken down transmission and haul it away to work on it. In the event I would have the dealer do the work, then it would have cost me approx. $3,000. 00 worst case scenario, and maybe gm would assist but not sure if they would help or not or at what level. Since they repaired the first transmission and it went out at approx. 32k miles after that, I did not have a comfort level that they would do a good job or that it would be repaired. I was stuck on a road in the early evening with my elderly mother and my sister in the vehicle with me upon our return from a day and evening trip to ruidoso nm, located approx. 2. 5 hours from my residence when the transmission went out.

9 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Transmission takes 30 seconds to shift to second gear. Vehicle has been taken to dealer twice, cannot remedy the problem. After the second attempt, the transmission was replaced. The vehicle still makes noises as if the transmission was not adjusted correctly. The vehicle also doesn't run the same. It feels as if the vehicle loses power. There is a scraping noise that is heard from the rear wheels. The brakes were replaced and the rotors deglazed.
