I purchased a new 2007 chevy Tahoe in July of 2007. September 2007 I had to take the SUV in to have the rear window defogger cable reattached to the rear window, it fell off. After discussing with service manager, I was told that it was a design defect, the wire was not long enough and the tension from opening the rear glass causes the cable to break free. They had a window company re-attach it, one week later, I was back in and a new rear window was ordered. In November 2008 I had the cable break free on the replaced rear window, I had it repair, than the other side detached. I called the dealer and they advise that it could not be fixed based on the instructions from the released service corporation bulletin (#03-08-48-006e). I feel since this bulletin was released, this is a confession of a design defect and the customer should not be liable. They ordered a new window and it was charged to my extended warranty company, I had to pay 100. 00. I feel this is an engineering design issue and gm needs to address this issue in a recall.
