Tire Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe - part 2

Tires routinely require air to be added. Tires have been replaced and continue to require air be added every few weeks. Have asked the dealer regarding this and was told they were not aware of any issues related to rim leaks or reasons for this. Have noticed this issue on other Tahoes.

While traveling on a highway at approximately 70 mph there was a loud pop sound from the front right of the vehicle that sounded like a rock hitting the inside of the fender. We continued to travel another mile or so, not realizing that our tire had just "popped". The tire proceeded to go flat.

All tires or cupping, tires have been serviced from day one by firestone dealer. Out side company checked front end and allignment and all was ok. Tires have been rotated by firestone dealer 3 times 6000, 10000, and 16000 miles, there or 17800 miles of Tahoe now. There is a warranty on tires for 12 months from purchase but I can't get firestone dealer or Chevrolet dealer where I purchased Tahoe to help me at all.

I have a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe with firestone le tires p26570r16. I experienced a blowout on July 3, 2003 on the left rear tire. I purchased this vehicle in November of 2002, these tires were brand new at the time. I would like to have these tires replaced under the recall.

Cupping problems on 2002 Tahoe began at 12k miles, 2 tires replaced at 30k due to 2nd layer of tire exposed. Told by tire retailer that this is typical for this tire: firestone willderness at p265/70r16.

All 4 tires were dry rotted and contained stress marks.

While traveling on GA hwy 300 - our family was on our way to destin, florida to stay with family. The left rear tire exploded causing us to run into the median. My husband and I were traveling with our 3 children one of their friends. We were very shaken up and were stranded. Instead of arriving in florida around 9:30 pm (to have dinner with my sister and mother who live there) we arrived at 1:30 am. If we had not been driving in the inside lane then we would have been hit by traffic!! the tire looked like someone had taken a box cutter and sliced all the way around the outside (inside of the lettering onthe tire) we have taken pictures and saved the tire! (tiresize: p265/70r16).

Right front tire had some tread separation while consumer was driving. There was no damage to the vehicle. Original equipment, 24ooo miles, wilderness at p265/75r16, mounted on a Chevrolet, Tahoe, 2000. The tread separation was discovered after the tires were rotated and balanced. The tires were rotated because of vehicle pulling to the right and the left. Consumer states that the heater needed to be repaired.

Travelling on interstate 29 in missouri at the posted speed limit of 70 mph, having driven for two hours in 65 degree weather, the right rear tire separated, and I was able to safely navigate the Tahoe onto the shoulder of the freeway. The entire circumference of the tire separated from itself on the outer side. There is no sign of a blow-out; we have kept the tire and taken pictures to hopefully have the situation diagnosed. Have never experienced a tire malfunction of this type in our lives. As I was driving on an uphill grade at the time of failure, presumably this made it easier to control the vehicle to a stop before I could have rolled down a slight embankment. Please advise. . . This serious malfunction could easily cause severe injury or death! thank you. (tiresize: p265/70r16).

Noticed vibrations through steering wheel and automobile was pulling to the left. Had tires rotated and balanced. Tech noticed that that left front tire had broken belt. Replaced tire. Same problem ocurred at 37933 miles with the left front tire,but this time tire went flat. Saw a puncture hole but no evidence of nail or anything else. Noticed bukge on side of tire when inflated with air.

Tire failed suddenly. Firestone,1804 w. Main,mesa,az kept tire. Did not replace ,said it was road hazard failure. Replaced with michelin @ discount tire CO. (tiresize: 265/70r16)( dot number: tire size: 265/70r16 ).

The tire was discovered defective when it was spin balanced after a tire rotation. Originally it was on the rear, but when moved up front a vibration was noticed. It was checked and balanced, but could not be balanced. It appeared warped and wobbled while on the balancer. The tire was defective early on, but wasn't noticed until it was put up front. Tried putting on over 4 oz. Of weight on each side, but still wouldn't balance. This could possibly be initial signs of belt separation? (tiresize: 265/70r16)( dot number: tire size: 265/70r16 ).

My wife and I had been to dallas texas visiting family, and we were just south of paris texas returning home when the tire failed. I had no warning, although I had noticed a handling problem which I had attributed to the road. The tire failed completely. Although the tread was still in place, the entire outside side wall of the tire was gone. My wife took a picture of the vehicle while I was changing the tire, and the tire is very evident. I can supply the picture (negative), or email a . Jpeg file if you wish to see what the tire looked like. I had stopped for gas approximately 30 minutes prior to the failure, and did not notice that the tire was low on air. The gas tank fill is right next to the tire, and I think I would have noticed if the tire was low. The tire store in paris texas where I bought a replacement tire (same make and size) did not notice any punctures or failure in the tread. The tire dealer was discount wheel & tire, 3215 n. E. While the consumer was driving, the right rear tire exploded as a result the right rear dropped to the rim causing the vehicle to flip. (le wilderness tire).

Problems with front alignment on 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. At approx. 7-8k miles, consumer started having tire problems. He rotated them but to no avail. Dealership was contacted and they said rotate them again. Consumer did. At 14k miles new tires were put on the vehicle. This didn't solve the problem. Chevy said to rotated the tires every 2k miles but the consumer felt this was ridiculous and did it every 3k miles but to no avail. Consumer noted they never tried to repair the problem. (ph.

Inappropriate tires on SUV's could be the cause of rollovers.

Truck was equipped with passenger car tires instead of truck tires. .

Passenger's side front tire rubs against the frame of the truck when turning the wheel to the right. This causes a loss of steering control. Dealer has seen vehicle, cannot remedy problem.

Consumers vehicle experienced 2 tire failures, first a flat then a blowout on the highway(firestone wilderness tire). Nlm.

Original tires goodrich p 245/75r 16 are insufficient for towing, too weak to withstand pressure.

Original tow package equipted with passenger tires contributed to sway problems.
