36 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2010

Speedometer malfunction.

37 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2010

Own 2005 Trailblazer. At 60,555 miles speedometer stops working and now registers over 120 mph. Had extended warranty that expired at 60,000 and was told that since the warranty was 555 miles out of coverage, it would cost me $500. 00 to fix. Lights on instrument panel out as well. Please review need to recall as this seems to be a major issue that others are also experiencing.

38 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2010

The speedometer completely stopped working and now the oil gauge is also not working. This is dangerous for me and my children since I do not know how fast or slow I am driving. It will cost around $500 to fix this problem.

39 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

Speedometer, oil pressure gauge and volt meter stick, drop to lowest point or surge to highest point. Speedometer will stick at one speed or stick and then only move up from that point. I have no idea what speed I'm traveling when this happens. It happens most often when it rains and will remain inaccurate for a several days. Not knowing how fast you are going is dangerous.

40 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2010

My 2005 Trailblazer speedometer stops working. While driving the speedometer will read 120 mph or more while I am only driving 70 mph. I verify my speed through my garmin gps. This happens for no rhyme or reason sometimes it works fine and the next minute it is broken again. This is extremely dangerous as I was traveling 250 miles on the highway and thought I was traveling at 70 mph but I was really doing 50. The problem was that everyone including semi trucks where whizzing by my and I couldn't figure out why. This caused me to be almost run off the road as a semi almost rear ended me as he slammed his brakes on. I have not been able to fix the problem yet as gm wants 450 dollars to fix a problem that should be recalled. I have read hundreds of posts online about this exact problem on 2005 Trailblazers. Apparently there is a recall on other gm vehicles with this speedometer just not on the Trailblazer.

41 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2010

2005 chevy Trailblazer ext - speedometer has ceased to work. I either says I am going zero or 120 mph. Have now gotten 2 speeding tickets and can not get inspected until this issue is resolved. I have been on the internet for hours now and there are hundreds and hundreds of complaints for the same thing with the same year chevy Trailblazers. Next step according to most is the gas gauge ceasing to work. This really needs to be on the recall list like the other chevy vehicles with the same issue.

42 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2010

2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Instrument cluster has intermittent failure of speedometer and tachometer. Has been happening for several years, gm wants $600 to replace cluster. Instrument cluster has been recalled on every other gm vehicle that uses this cluster.

43 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Cluster panel gone bad. Speedometer was showing 21 mph while I was stopped. Took to dealership diagnosed with the cluster panel being bad. Gm has had other recalls for similar part and this should be no exception. 2005 chevy Trailblazer 59,000 miles.

44 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2010

Vehicle started by failure of the fuel gauge. It shows empty even though I have just filled up with gas. This occurs every time I fill up. Then the oil light has gone haywire, and fails to reset itself, it points down to the bottom of the gauge. Now my speedometer will without warning stop working and freeze on a certain number, then go down to below zero and not work at all. This has caused me to not know how fast I was going at times. After turning off the vehicle it resets itself, but then happens again the next time. I have taken the vehicle to the shop several times and have been told that it is the instrument panel. I have read several complaints all over the internet and from friends who have the same vehicle. This is not something that is unique to my car. This is a serious problem and can cause accidents and people stranded if it is not fixed, or if gm does not look into this issue.

45 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2010

I was driving my 2005 chevy Trailblazer last evening 4/08/2010 in town and my speedometer starting speeding up without me accelerating. At rest the speedometer shows 45 mph. The speedometer has gone up to 90mph when I'm traveling at about 40 mph. The speedometer seems to increase even if I am at a steady traveling speed.

46 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2010

Going down the interstate in my 2005 chevy Trailblazer and the speedometer said I was traveling 95 mph and people were passing me like I was sitting still. Took it to the dealer and there was a recall on the speedometer/ cluster on every vehicle with the same speedometer except the Trailblazer. Now I'm finding many others with the same problem. Gm says they will try to get a reduced fee to get it fixed - not good enough, they should fix it for nothing as it is a safety concern.

47 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2010

Speedometer on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer ext does not register accurate speed. It will work intermittentlyy although has been proven to not be accurate. It will stick at zero or at 120 mph and generally goes "haywire" while in motion although it does not seem to matter if it is hot, cold, wet or dry outside and does not matter if I have my heater or air conditioner on. Sometimes it will reset itself after I shut off the vehicle but not always. I have not replaced any parts at this time due to the cost involved. ($500. 00) I have received a speeding ticket due to the inaccuracy of the speedometer. (only ticket in 16 years!!!) I was unable to speak with the officer about the issue because I received the ticket in the mail and would have had to take time off work and travel 2 hours to contest the ticket. I need that extra money to pay for the repair on the vehicle to avoid any further tickets! I have owned this vehicle for 1. 5 years and have minimal problems until this. I love my blazer but really need an accurate speedometer. Vehicle has 69,000 miles on it. I have put 20k+ miles on it since I have owned it.

48 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2010

The instrument cluster on a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer has ceased to work correctly. The speedometer no longer works at all and the oil pressure gage has failed as well. There was no obvious cause for the failure and the problem is continuous, not intermittent. The dealer has said that correction is by replacement of the whole instrument cluster unit.

49 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. After starting the vehicle the contact noticed that the speedometer had suddenly risen to 50 mph while the vehicle was still in park. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 63000 and the current mileage was 69000.

50 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2010

First the gas gauge stopped working. It always stays on empty even though I have a full tank. Then the check engine light started coming on randomly. Finally the speedometer stopped working. It will read 70mph even though I am stopped. There is a problem with the instrument cluster and clearly needs to be recalled due to the number of complaints filed.

51 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2010

Speedometer suddenly quit. And will not read over 25 mph. Luckily cruise was set so I know my speed. Odometer still counts correctly. Estimates for replacement of instrument cluster are %500 and up. This is a known safety issue with over 1000 complaints.

52 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2010

Speedometer stops working , very erratic behavior. Will work for few minutes at a time.

53 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2010

I just bought a 2005 chevy Trailblazer LS. Speedometer is going haywire. Needle points straight down and slowly ticks backwards. When im stopped it normally shows im going 60 mph and when driving it goes into the 100's and then way passed the 120 mph mark. Also my oil pressure gauge needle is way passed full and is almost facing straight down. Apparently there's been a ton of people with this exact problem and it should be a recall but apparently gm won't do anything about it.

54 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2010

My 2005 chevy Trailblazer LS (68,000 mi) speedometer goes out of control. Told instrument cluster needed replacing. Less than a year ago fuel gauge was messed up and had to replace tank sensor.

55 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2010

The speedometer on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer malfunctioned saying I was going faster than I really was. This has happened 3 times; the first time on January 28th 2010, and twice on the night of February 4th 2010. It appears to be getting worse each time. The speedometer will increase during acceleration and not move for deceleration. With each deceleration and subsequent acceleration the speedometer continues to increase until you hit max speed of 120 mph. This is a large danger for frequent freeway/highway traveling considering the vehicles approaching from the rear and I have no way of knowing how fast my vehicle is really going. The only way that I have found to reset the speedometer, is to stop and shut off the vehicle, then restart the vehicle. However, this must be done multiple times, sometimes up to 10 times or more. Each time the vehicle is shut off and restarted, the speedometer will reset approximately 5 mph. This evening I had to restart my truck 12 times to get it back to zero. The first time this happened, a friend was driving for me, and this malfunction has resulted in a speeding ticket.

56 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2010

I own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer. On highway 61 near troy, mo, there is a speed radar set along the road to display vehicle speed to drivers. On 2 occasions, my speedometer showed speeds of 60 mph when the radar display showed 40 to 45 mph and on 3 occasions, my speedometer indicated speeds of 60 (the speed limit), while the radar displayed speeds anywhere from 75 to 85 mph. I was going 15 to 25 mph faster than the speed limit, but did not know it according to my speedometer. This does not happen all the time, but has occurred at least 6 or 7 times over the past year at different locations. I have found that when I stop the Trailblazer, when the speedometer is registering low, the speedometer needle will actually move below the 0 mph. On those occasions when my speedometer was registering high, when I have stopped the vehicle, the needle will still be showing 25 to 40 mph! my fear is that on one of those occasions that my speed is actually faster than indicated, my speed my cause an accident. I have found that after stopping the car and turning it off, if I just turn the ignition key to run without starting it several times, the needle will gradually reset itself back to 0 and I won't have any more problems for a while. I have had an estimate to replace the instrument cluster for $500 to $600, but I feel this is a recall problem that Chevrolet needs to take care of. I have read numerous complaints from other Trailblazer owners on the internet, this is what moved me to file this complaint.

57 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2010

I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer ext. As I was driving to work this morning I noticed that my speedometer kept increasing speed 80+ then finally went to 120 then dropped to the bottom. It stays at the bottom of the meter so it doesn't read anything. As I'm google this problem it appears that this seems to be a common happening. I called the dealer and they are like that happens to those cars all the time but no recall. This is terrible we (american people) just bailed gm out and now they have these issues with their vehicles and don't do anything about them. They should be made to stand behind their products. Why buy american when they treat you like this???????????.

58 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2010

Speedometer stopped working.

59 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2010

The speedometer on my 2005 chevy Trailblazer is out of wack. It registers at least 3 to 4 times faster than I am going. I have no way of knowing how fast I'm going .

60 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2010

1. While driving the speedometer stuck at 65 mph 2. The speedometer shows 65 mph when the car is stopped and when driven, it goes to a higher mph as I drive. 3. Nothing has been done yet as I am waiting for a repair estimate.

61 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2010

The speedometer malfunction began on January 11, 2010. First the speedometer appeared to be stuck at zero. Now it has gone up and past the highest mph reading on the 2005 Trailblazer. There has been a recall on the other chevy trucks with the same speedometer but has not included the Trailblazer. How can one safely drive when you don't have an accurate reading on how fast the vehicle is traveling?.

62 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2010

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, have own it since I bought it in 2005 and have no problems up until recently. Today I was driving down the highway when my speedometer quit working. I would not show the correct speed in which I was traveling on the highway for the posted speed limit, realizing that everyone else on the road seem like they were parked on the highway, as I am flying by them is when I realized that my speedometer/instrument panel. This problem happened on my travel to a location and back on a couple of occasions. I managed to figure out that the longer I had the vehicle running the problem would occur. If I shut the vehicle off and let it cool down it would be fine for about 15-20 mins than act up again. This is something that is unsafe and can potentially cause harm in the near future if it is not addressed with other owners. Luckily I did not cause any accidents or pulled over.

63 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2010

I have an 05 chevy Trailblazer and my speedometer does not work. I will sit at 45/mph or something else when I turn it off/on.

64 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2010

We bought a 2005 Trailblazer about a year and a half ago. Out of the blue about two weeks ago, the speedometer goes haywire. It says that I am going 60 mph. When I was actually going about 15 because I was in a residential area and it was snowing. A few days later it started working again, and then today it just completely stopped working. It wont move at all. Its completely broken.

65 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2010

Speedometer does not work on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer and 2005 silverado.

66 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS. He stated that the instrument panel displayed the incorrect fuel level, mileage, and speed traveled. The dealer stated that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. There were no recalls on his vehicle. The dealer stated that the repairs would be at the owner's expense and that the panel could possibly fail again. No repairs were made to date. The failure and current mileages were 57,413.

67 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2009

The speedometer on my 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer stopped functioning. It is now stuck below the zero mark, in between 0 and 120. The car has about 56,000 miles on it. This seems to be a serious problem with this make. It is completely unsafe, and I am not sure what to do.

68 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The speedometer will not display the accurate speed of the vehicle. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership. The current and failure mileages were 55736. Updated 01/20/10 the consumer stated the problem initially happened when the cruise control set. The speedometer climbed to 110 mph, not the vehicle just the speedometer. The speedometer was erratic. Often, when the vehicle is in park, the speedometer will register 90 mph. The dealer informed the consumer a cluster was needed. Updated 01/22/10.

69 Instrument Panel problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2009

Speedometer stopped working while driving on the freeway. The only reason I found out was chp stopped me for going 45 mph. Once I began to slowdown the speedometer jumped to over 100mph! I explained the situation and he followed me to the next exit where I let the car rest. He knew I need to let the car rest because he had pulled over another Trailblazer with the same problem!!.

70 Instrument Panel problem
