Chevrolet Trailblazer owners have reported 5 problems related to back up lights (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The bearings on the alternator are wearing and need to be replaced, the vehicle only has 29,000 miles and according to my mechanic they should not be worn this early and should be replaced as soon as possible; this is definately a safety issue and a faulty part that I should not have to pay to have replaced. The fuel level indicator has stopped working over 2. 5 years ago. I did receive a letter saying that the part may wear out prematurely and they are willing to pay 50% of the replacement but if it wears out prematurely then the part is faulty and I should not have to pay to replace the part. The backup light panel is bad, I tried to replace the bulb but the problem lies with the panel, fauilty part again.

When getting the oil changed for our Trailblazer, they told us that the driver's side reverse light was out. When they went to replace it, they informed us that the entire area for the bulb was rusted out. We have noticed that moisture collects in both brake light areas when it rains or after a car wash. Is there a recall for this?.

I have a 2002 Trailblazer with multiple taillight / brake light failures. The dealership has resolved my problem, however I thought this information might be helpful to your open investigation. In November 03 my brake lights failed and my dealership "replaced the bulbs" under my then existing warranty. Again, in January, they failed again and I took the vehicle in to have the "bulbs" replaced. While sitting at the counter, I was speaking to a man behind the parts counter and explaining my problem to him. I hadn't finished explaining when he told me I must have a Trailblazer. I told him yes, and asked him why. He reached under the counter and took out a box with no less than 20 taillight "circuit boards" and told me they were all from Trailblazers.

2004 Trailblazer has 40 second turn on of headlights and back up lights when remote key used to unlock doors. This has on 2 occasions has caused vehicles in travel lanes to suddenly brake because with the back up lights on blazer appears to be backing into traffic. Solution: only occurs after dark, so must be relayed thru daylight running detector. Needs to do as brake and turn signals do, flash on and then off. Headlights have stayed on shining into a group who threaten me with bodily harm. Dealer said a gm problem, they can't change. Had 2002,2001,1998 blazers, never a problem.
