5 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

"takata recall" we just purchased this car from my husband's deceased mother's estate and it had a recall on the lighting inside and outside tail lights. The vehicle has 83 thousand miles on it and the vehicle rear lights are not working when I brake only one that is is the third light on top of car. Gm (Chevrolet) I live on a very limited income and due to disability as well. My income is 1330 a month. How can I get this fixed? they want to charge me for diagnostics, as I stated we fixed it once it seems to be that it may get hot and blows fuses and then I have no idea I have no tail lights this is very dangerous and someone could rear end me and kill themselves and or myself. Please help me in understanding are they responsible to fix their defects as they did it once when it was recalled and we also just bought this car. Paid about 5 thousand for it. Excellent condition. Other than the lighting system not working only on and off. I have not had an accident but I do not want to have a accident. I find it unfair that they dont want to fix the problem unless they are paid because apparently it is a problem that is and will recur. We have actually fixed the problem once but apparently something is wrong that we cannot secure the issue properly. Kindest regards carolyn otoole.

8 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 03/21/2014

This has happened a couple of times before while I was driving at night (fortunately in well lit areas), I thought I had inadvertently turned the headlights off. When I turned the headlights off then back on the low beams came on. Last night I came out of the grocery store and noticed my headlights did not come on when I used the remote entry to unlock the door. It took a few moments to realize my low beams were still not on once I started the vehicle and put it in drive. My hi beams, parking lights and tail lights are all working. Twenty-four hours my low beams still are not working.

11 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

First was the right tail light caught fire and blew fuses, then I get power surges that cause the vehicle to accelerate randomly at the worst times and/or will also stall out, which can be potentially very dangerous or end in a fatal accident, it drops in rpms and lights dim then it accelerates. . . And the last thing is that the fuel gauge fluctuates dramatically and you can never tell how much fuel you really have. . . Drive 10 miles at quarter of a tank and it either stays close to the same spot or drops and the light comes on for low fuel.

12 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 02/10/2009

Drivers door control panel burned causing failure of door locks, windows, etc. Gas gauge continually showed incorrect amounts of fuel causing running out of fuel. Replaced the part and it happened again. Chevrolet took no blame. Recently chevy notified all owners that there is a problem that they will fix up to 1/2 of the actual cost. (my share will be $218 for their mistake) back tail lights have blown out over and over again since purchase. Finally replaced entire units on my own andit continued to happen. Contacted Chevrolet dealer and chevy customer service. Went to dealer and had the taillights repaired but chevy again took no responsibility but kindly sent me a$1000 voucher for use on a new purchase of a Chevrolet. The dealer repair cost was apprx. $680. Still own the vehicle and will have make fuel gauge repair.

16 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 07/01/2006

Back hatch and window will only open occasionally if I'm lucky. Tail lights went out once and I was able to get the hatch open to fix it. They are out again and I can't get the hatch to open now. I have been replacing head lamps about every 8 to 10 months. Head lights are now going off for no apparent reason while I'm driving at night. I can flip on the brights and then wait a few minutes and flip back to low beams, sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't. The dome lights will not come on and stay on after I turn it off. Half of the dash lights for the radio are out, sometimes they will come on if I tap them. The feature that lets you turn the vehicle off and the radio will continue to play and the windows will still roll down as long as you don't open the door, is not working. Both O2 sensors are out and have been for a long time. I purchased this SUV brand new from a chevy dealer. I have paid it off and kept up all of the general maintenance on it. When I took it in to get these issues fixed I was told it would be over $2500. 00 to fix and that did not include labor. This SUV is a lemon, if I was in a position to trade it in or buy a new one I would, and I would not be getting another chevy. I have never been notified of any recalls. I only found out about the electrical recalls on the turn signals and tail lights because a friend had heard about them and suggested a website to check. I'm calling the dealer today to see if I can get these issues taken care of. Another reason I will not be buying chevy again.

17 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 04/19/2005

Noises coming from underneath the SUV ,check engine light constantly came on and one night I was going around 55 mph my 15 yr old daughter,we heard a loud pop it sound like we had hit something in the road so I stop to see what it was, we saw nothing but the squeaking sound from under the SUV got louder some day later jumped in the car started the car and there was that loud sound again only this time the SUV would not move in reverse I could hear some spinning like noise so I took it to a shop and I was told that the transmission was striped out in reverse, and that some shaft had broken or something, the mechanic also told me that he had several people come in with the same problem the same model Trailblazer 2002 what hurt me so bad is this was my first brand new car, I only had it for two years, and if I every buy another car it want be from gm, I also had problems with my tailgate lamps ,windshield wipers, steering column.

18 Tail Light Switch problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Failure Date: 01/02/2004

2003 Chevrolet trail blazers, which have frequent failures in both tail lights, including brake lights, turn signal indicators and reverse lights due to faulty boards which do not apply enough tension to hold the bulb in place. The bulb does not burn out, it just becomes loose. This should result in a complete recall, not what gm has called a special policy condition. Failed rear lighting is a significant safety issue that the NHTSA should deem as a recall.
