Service Brakes Problems of Chevrolet Trailblazer - part 1

While driving, a service warning came on that reads "service power steering" - when that came on, the brakes ceased to work properly and required significant force, causing a big delay in braking. It is not safe to drive due to the limited braking. This mirrors the recall situation for other 2021 Trailblazer models with the interrupted brake sensor.

My car has been well maintained and always taken for service according to recommendations from the manufacturer. My brakes have always squealed since I first bought it new but apparently there’s nothing they can do about it so I’ve just dealt with it. Now a more serious concern I am having after manufacturer warranty is my dash is displaying a shift to park message every time I shift into park and turn off my car. I also might add that this has been going on with others! chevy doesn’t think it’s a concern when it is a very serious issue. I have children and once when I went to get gas after almost being on empty my car wouldn’t turn off because of that error and I couldn’t get gas. I tried turning it off and on multiple times to fix but it just didn’t want to work when I needed it most. I have to aggressively charge gears go get it to work most of the time. It’s a serious issue that has been brought to their attention and shouldn’t be happening to a vehicle under 50,000 miles and well maintained. These issues need to be addressed there’s no reason I should have to pay to fix an issue this extensive and costly in a 2022 vehicle.

My 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer has two main issues. First, there is a constant squealing noise when braking. I reported this twice to the dealer — the first time they said it was just sand inside the wheel. The noise continued. On the second visit, they told me it would cost over $100 to inspect the brakes because the wheel needed to be removed, which I couldn’t afford. This problem started before the vehicle reached 36,000 miles. Second, the electrical system malfunctions occasionally while driving. When I connect my son’s phone to bluetooth, both the dashboard and infotainment screens shut off completely for a few seconds. This happens while the vehicle is in motion, and it is extremely dangerous, especially on highways. The screens then turn back on. I believe both issues may relate to safety and should be investigated.

Getting error message for shift to park not found when vehicle is in park. Chevy already has a recall for this but my VIN is not one showing it is affected. Vehicle is at the dealer now for diagnosis and repair.

I was driving on the highway going 65mph which is the legal speed limit. I got cut off by a driver and light tapped my brakes to slow the vehicle down. When I did so the vehicle then swerved to the left and started drifting sideways directly to a wall. I went head on with the wall. Then I bounced back across all lanes of traffic again still sideways and drifting hitting another wall. Which is where the vehicle ended at the stopping point of the accident. No airbags deployed in the accident. The driver behind me who witness the crash stated that the vehicle started to loose traction before I hit my brakes and me hitting my brakes caused the vehicle to them loose full control. I was in the process of buying this vehicle from gresham Ford in oregon. I was told the vehicle was 100% road safe and passed safety inspections. Which is false.

Two times in a month after getting fixed the first time the esc error code pops up and the engine starts running at 1/2 capacity and the steering gets hard to steer. There is also a braking error code that displays. I have had to tow it to the dealership twice now and can not drive it. It is a danger since it will decelerate when in traffic and becomes hard to steer.

A loud popping noise heard through the radio when light pressure applied to brakes. Noise loud enough to scare the hell out of all the occupants in the car. Brakes squeaked when car was in reverse. Tried to slow down on wet pavement. Car started to veer to the right. Forward collision warning nor automatic emergency braking worked. Pushed brake all the way to the floor and the car did not slow. Rear ended another car. No airbags deployed. My passenger was okay. I got diagnosed with a concussion. Do not know if the occupants in the other car were injured.

I have brought my car into the dealership over the last few years at least 6 times for the same issues. Currently there are two codes coming up as permanent on my car which is for the evaporative emission system flow and brake booster hydraulics performance. I drive my child of three every day and the number of times my check engine light comes on and goes into reduced engine power is not okay nor safe.

I have a 2023 Trailblazer rs bought brand new. Currently has 12776 miles on it and for atleast the last 5000 miles I've noticed the breaks squeeling. Esp when I'm going slow speeds. I first thought maybe it was the weather or something. Moisture. . Whatever because this car is so new I just brushed it off. But it has progressively gotten worse and louder. Which is super frustrating when I'm picking my kids up in the pick up line and my car sounds 15+ years old when I'm rolling through and have to keep breaking. Squeeling in mine and everyone else's ear. I want this looked into a fixed. I had 2 kias before this that the engines blew from recalls they didn't wanna fix until it was to late. I'm a single mom who pays way to much to have a nice reliable car for there to be having issues already. I will be bringing it up to the dealership at my upcoming oil change. I refuse to be worried about the safety or reliability of this expensive new car. . Hauling my kids around.

The brakes have been squeaking and making grinding noises since I hit 13,000 miles. It was intermittent at first, and was only happening when I was slowly hitting the brakes,but every time I stop now you can hear them squeak or make noise. . I took it to a local mechanic and they said the brakes look ok, but to check with the dealer. I took the car to the dealership and they said they didn’t hear the squeaking or grinding but they gave me a pamphlet that said the brakes just do that, that it’s normal they are making sounds and the pamphlet said possibly reasons why they are noisy. The brakes sounding like that is not normal,because they don’t sound good, and they seem to be getting worse.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - the shift lever/gear control malfunctions when trying to put the vehicle in park. The vehicle once the lever is in park on the dashboard it will say !place vehicle in park. When it is in park you can't open the doors or turn off the vehicle. You can try to jiggle the shift lever but it doesn't move out of park. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - unable to get out of the vehicle, the system locks the doors. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - it has occurred at the beginning of the year. No it hasn't been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - once you put the shift lever in park and try to turn off the car the warning lamp comes on and says place in park. But the shift lever is in park. You are unable to move the shift lever. I don't know the exact date it first started happening but I believe it was at the beginning of the year.

The vehicle was scheduled for a diagnostic test within several days. In addition, the contact stated that the engine was recently replaced due to an oil leak. The vehicle had been serviced by the dealer several times due to the persistent failures. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I reported my first issue back in late 2024 of the break’s squealing they took my car in and resurface the rotors. It stopped squealing for about a few months and now we are in summer of 2025 and they are squealing again. I took my car to the dealership because they told me that my car would be under warranty for 30,000 miles with the brakes. First started when they told me that the guy that told me I would have a rental car waiting for me did not set me up for a rental car. I live 45 minutes to an hour away from the dealership. When I pulled into the garage, I could hear the squealing of my car. When I went up to the counter the guy told me he couldn’t hear anything. They then tried to tell me that I would have to take my car back home and call back in the morning to talk to the rep I was talking to in the service department as he had already left for the day along with his associate. I was determined that I was not leaving there without a rental car and my car to be looked. I finally went in on my own to find the gentleman who sold me the vehicle who I really do appreciate and have no issues with him(keith keys) he’s a very good sales person at weber Chevrolet. As they were getting me a rental the guy from the service department pulled around with my car and asked me to get in. He then told me that he had fixed the issue by slamming on my brakes a few times and that it was ok for me to take it home. I then let him know that it was staying to be looked at and I was going to take the rental. The next day when I called the service rep, he stated that they were going to replace the front brakes and it would be available the following day to pick up. When I went to go pick up my vehicle and leave the parking lot I didn’t even get out of the parking space and it was still squealing. I went back in and they told me it was normal and I would have to call the service rep the following day I’m still waiting to hear. I have owned many chevy’s to know breaks don’t do that.

The brakes squeal and make an odd chirping noise. They grab too. The dealership refused to even look at it unless if I paid for a service. The car is under warranty.

05/29/24 I took this vehicle to cronic Chevrolet in griffin, GA due to check engine light being on. Code detected purge pump it was still under warranty at that time only had 43,906 miles on had to get the purge pump replaced. Several weeks after getting it back I kept getting a shift to park message come up when trying to put it in park then started having trouble getting it to go into drive. I have had so many close calls from people almost bashing into me because my car will not go into drive and you constantly have to switch in and out of gears for it to finally go in. Its sucking the had right out due to it not shifting gears properly. The code reader detected transmission control module which I find to be faulty and understand there are serval recalls on this specific vehicle , when it started this issue it didn’t even have 50,000 miles on it!.

The brake pedal goes to the floor and does not want to stop. There is a brake failure meesage on the dash.

The brakes have been making a loud squeeling when I slow down. This has occurred since I bought the vehicle. The dealership has reviewed it multiple times and state they do not know what is causing it or how to fix it. The last time the tech stated there is nothing they can do. Now the brakes aren't performing as well as they did and it is concerning.

The car would tell me to "shift to park" when my car is in park. I was unable to turn my car completely off if this message was flashing on the dash. I have had to leave my car unlocked and with the system on for periods of time when I had to get out of my car. There wasn't a way to be able to lock my car when this system was on, not even when I had turned the car off. I am always unaware if my car is actually in park or not. Very worrisome to think that my car would roll into an object, or even a person just because my car wouldn't register that I was in park.

When the brake pedal was applied, the vehicle shuddered and skipped. There seemed to be a pulsation in the brakes. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to bulletin number 22-na-026: the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined there was 10 percent braking. There was devitt in the rear brakes and rotors. The caliper pin placement was off. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined the brakes needed to be replaced and resurfaced. The brakes were replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I recently bought a new Trailblazer 2023 last year. I have had problems with a squeaking noise when I apply the brakes. The problems have gotten considerably worse. I have taken it to the dealership and they claim there are no problems. I made an appointment to take it to the dealership again because the squeaking while applying the brakes sounds terrible. I was instructed that there was nothing that could be done until Trailblazer did a recall on the type of brake pads installed in Trailblazers. I was also told that there have been numerous complaints about the same problem I am experiencing. I love my Trailblazer and just want the problem corrected.

The brakes I’ve had issues with them making noises since I purchased my car. The rubber around the wheel wells about 6 months after I purchased my car and the shift to park just started this month September 2023. I feel my car is a piece of crap that’s falling apart.

My brand new 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer started having squeaky brakes when it was not even a year old. When brought to the dealership the first time, they changed the pads. This did not help the squeaking. When brought back the second time, the dealership told me that gm told them, “if vehicle returns after the bulletin has been performed, do not attempt any further repairs. Engineering is working on an improvement”. I was told that I have to deal with the squeaking until gm engineers figure out a fix. This has been an issue for this car since 2020. They are not trying to fix the problem. Chevrolet customer service also tells me there is not a safety issue. When I asked them, “how do you know for sure this is not a safety issue? if the brakes are squeaking there is obviously a malfunction of some sort. ” they could not answer this question.

The car will all of a sudden make a loud popping noise through the radio. It is enough to scare someone while they are driving and have a wreck. The brakes are very touchy to the point of almost giving you whiplash.

The abs system in this vehicle flashes warnings at quick restarts and while holding the brake down, it has no “sponge” when this happens. The brakes squeal constantly. I’ve had them inspected at every single maintenance and there can be no flaw found. When driving on the interstate, the engine is very “jerky” almost like the transmission can’t keep up with the speed of 70-80mph (not always, but it is noticeable when it happens). At first I didn’t think much of it but with the mass recall of chevys identified, I believe it needs to go on record - particularly about the brakes.

My 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer is about 3 months old and it’s been making squeaky noises when I break. The squeaky sound is getting worse over time and I have an appointment scheduled with Chevrolet to get this resolved. My concern is a 2022 recall on this same vehicle due to the break system. Therefore, I am reporting this for the year or 2023 because my car is brand new and making screech noises every time I break. Also, my electric system randomly stops working. For example, my touch screen car play system pixelates and sometimes doesn’t even work. I turned off my car and the radio stayed on and the volume wasn’t going down. The car was off and the radio was still playing! after about 15 mins the radio stopped playing while the car was off. Something isn’t right with my Trailblazer, electric and breaks. Lastly, in the images you will see as my millage goes up so does the remaining fuel miles I have left. The fuel miles left are suppose to go down as I’m using the car. Therefore, something is also wrong with my electric dashboard system and fuel meter. Please consider a recall, this is dangerous.

The breaks on this car squeal and grid awful. The dealership said they put metal brake pads on the car and that it's "supposed" to grind and make noise" and told me there is nothing they can do about it. I know this was an issue with their 2020-2022 Trailblazers. I can't believe that it's normal for a $30,000 dollar car.

Brakes failed and myself and others were in harms way. To my knowledge the car was totaled as the air bags did deploy.

Brakes squeal & jerks.

Brakes have been squeaking since about 2,000 miles at lower speeds (parking, drive-thru, stop-and-go street traffic, etc. ). Took my car into the dealership at around 7,000 miles. Dealer acknowledged the issue and says that it's due to the material that the brakes are made of. They also stated that chevy is aware, but isn't doing anything to correct the issue. The dealership did nothing to help me. Now I'm at around 9,000 miles and the squeaking is happening at all speeds whenever I'm braking. It also sounds like there's metal grinding along with the constant squeaking.

I was driving west on i90 near belvidere IL, through a construction zone. All of sudden the vehicle stopped by its self. I had no control except for the steering. Once on the left shoulder of a four lane hwy(one way), another four lanes on the other side. There was a cement barrier blocking from the other side traffic. I smelled like burnt rubber, now I now it was the brakes. I checked under the hood did not see or smell something burning. After a few minutes the SUV was able to move. I was afraid for my life, just waiting on a vehicle to hit me.

I've had the brakes replaced because I thought they were an issue I was having with my abs. But my car will randomly lock its brakes as I'm driving, no matter what speed. I'm scared to drive it. It also almost loses all power after breaking but then speeds up on its own making it almost impossible to slow down or brake.

Brakes continuously squeak and has been taken to dealer on several occasions to address but was told nothing wrong. The collision avoidance reacts to vehicles parked on side of road which has also been taken to dealer but told nothing wrong. Apple car play works intermittently.

The brakes, abs, engine, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. Upon pulling over, the brake pedal was depressed but the brake pedal was firm, and the vehicle was slow to respond. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that an unknown software update was needed, and the brake control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 17,714.

The brakes on my 2023 chevy Trailblazer lt. At slow speeds the brakes sound like they are metal on metal and make horrible noise. I have only had this vehicle for 6 months. I did notify the dealer they said they can grease them and they would do it again. And that the only recall fix was for 2021 and 2022 Trailblazer having this issue not the 2023 yet.

Transmission doesn’t have 3rd or 4th gear. Vehicle was smoking under hood. Found out after buying it it has flood damage. Mechanic said there was water in the transmission when inspected. Vehicle needs catylic converter sensor and vehicle has bad ground wire. Seller didn’t inform me of any of these issues and he said it was in good shape and very reliable.
