2 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2008 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

While coming to a controlled stop at an intersection w. 4th st & trimble rd mansfield, ohio there was a significant bang and a sharp change in the cars dynamic. The rear passenger side wheel locked up causing a screeching skid. I observed a deflated tire. Upon changing the tire there was significant damage to the aluminum rim as if an explosion had occurred. A visible large gaping hole could be seen in the wheel. The vehicle would not roll forward freely, however it would roll freely in reverse. The vehicle was towed to char's cars st rt 39 mansfield ohio where it was purchased approximately 3 days ago. . . . . After conferring with their service manager [xxx], he stated that the bolts on the caliper sheared off. This raises great concern for the safety of myself and others. This vehicle was purchased for my son whom is in the us military and would be driving over 456 mi back to his base. . . . . . Please come investigate! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2008 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 08/04/2008

I stated their was a rubbing type noise in right/left front wheel when turning. The result was nothing. The second occurrence was August 13, 2008 with the same problem. The third time day Chrysler resurfaced front and rear rotors. The subsided but occurred again. The brakes drag and pulsate when stopping. I continue to have noisy front wheels while driving forward. When backing the automobile up the front brake pads are not stationary meaning they should not move in brake calipers. The steering knocks when turning. I have complained to the Chrysler corporation.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 02/18/2008

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The calipers on her brakes have been failing for over two years. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the technicians could not identify the cause of the failure. However the dealer would always resurface the brakes and turn the rotors. A certified mechanic finally concluded that the caliper was grabbing the wheels, and that the rotors did not have to be turned. She took the vehicle back to the dealer , but they wanted to charge her $40. 00 to perform a diagnostic test on the brakes again. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 40,000 to 45,0000.
