1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

Car has approx. 42525 limes. Coming from trip, heard loud engine noise. Went to dealer, found pipe from catalytic to muffler burnt off. Discovered a kink in exhaust pipe that was there when manufactured and it caused stress on the bend from the muffler to the catalytic converter. Had to replace entire system from catalytic back. Not a cheap fix but only one that was available. Dealer did a star case # 101881957. But to dte unable to get any confirmation from Chrysler as having received this.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2012 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

5. 7 hemi defective lifter. The 2012 5. 7 hemis used defective lifters, hundreds of complaints about the lifters failing can be found on Dodge forums across the internet. What happens, is the roller on the lifter that rolls along the camshaft is prone to locking up, it then grinds into the camshaft. This can lead to misfires and cause metal flakes to circulate through the engine via oil. If left unchecked, it may also lead to a total engine failure. I have seen complaints of this on all Chrysler products that have a 5. 7l, durango, charger, challenger, ram, and Jeep and from my research, I see the bulk of these failures happening between 80000 and 120000 miles, lifters should not be failing that soon. In my case, at approximately 160000 miles, mainly highway miles, my check engine light illuminated, I scanned the vehicle, it was throwing a cylinder 5 misfire code, so I started small. First I replaced the spark plugs, I then tried swapping ignition coils to see if the code would follow the ignition coil, it did not. I then tested my fuel system, the pump, the fuel rails, and the injectors, all were working normally. For one last effort, I checked my air flow system, the mass airflow sensor, the barometric pressure sensor, the manifold absolute pressure sensor, and of course the air filter. All were working normally. I then took the vehicle into a Dodge dealer, they tore the engine down and found that the lifters were failing, after $2,000 to repair the lifters, the code still persists. I removed my valve cover and watched the lifters as a friend tried to crank the engine, the cylinder 5 lifter is not traveling as much as the others, this tells me that the camshaft has been dug into by the faulty lifter that was replaced and is why the new lifter is not traveling as much as it should. It will cost another two grand to replace the camshaft. Please investigate.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2010 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/22/2012

On thanksgiving 2012 , I was coming back from out of town and driving on a highway when I looked in the rear view mirror and noticed a bit of smoke. I thought it was because the night was cold it appeared as if smoke was coming from the back of the car. However, after noticing that the smoke got a big bigger, I pulled off the side of the road. I opened the hood and there was fire coming from inside the hood where the engine was. I ordered my family including my 2 year old back out of the car as I thought it would explode. We waited until the fire department arrived but by then the flames subsided. I waited about an hour and half in the cold for aaa to tow my car 154 miles. I still have the receipt for the tow up to this day. Took it to Chrysler dealership and was told that they had no idea what caused the problem. Took it to aamco and they said a plug was missing and engine oil leaked out on the muffler and caused the fire. Next incident, car started stalling on me several times. Took it to a repair shop and was told the computer needed to be re-programmed (April 2013). A week after getting the computer fixed, the car started stalling again and this time I was told it was the alternator. Got that fixed and 3 months later, the car started stalling again. This time I was told it was because I needed a new battery. Got the battery put in and then in June of 2014, I was driving on a highway and the steering wheel locked on me and the car shut off. I smelled smoke like something was burning. After getting independent diagnosis from three different dealerships and automotive shops, it was determined that my engine completely failed. Got the engine rebuilt and as of Saturday Jan 24th, 2015, car started stalling again but this time, only when I come to a complete stop. Something is definitely wrong with this car! help!.

8 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 01/17/2006

2005 Chrysler 300 c has a documented history of stalling since taking ownership of vehicle. Vehicle has stalled multiple times while driving. Dealership has attempted to reprogram the powertrain control module, clean the combustion chambers, and replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor; problem still exists. After the most recent occurrence of stalling I was unable to restart the vehicle. I took a video of the attempts to restart the vehicle as the dealership has never been able to duplicate the issue. I have also contacted Chrysler customer relations and they have stated that there is nothing they can do since the dealership cannot duplicate the issue even though I have shown the dealership the video of the stall / non-start issue. Vehicle has approximately 29,000 miles.
