A check engine light illuminated and the dtc code indicated a fault in fuel evap system. A smoke test on the system revealed that the plastic evap tube on the fuel pump had cracked requiring a fuel pump replacement. Upon reassembly it was determined that over time the rubber evap hose that runs between the two fuel pumps was either too short of had shrunk in length over time stressing the plastic tube causing it to break. When reconnecting the rubber hose it was apperant that the hose was too short because when the hose was reconnected the evap fitting was pulled several degrees off center. There are two fuel pumps on this model year vehicle. On one pump the plastic tube has a 90 degree bend and the defective pump platic tube does not have a 90 degree bend. This fuel pump was a back ordered item indicating numerous fuel pump are being replaced. Two Chrysler mechainics, who did not work on my car, stated this is a common problem and they have replaced a number of fuel pumps recently. Chrysler does not cover this repair under their extended warranty and no TSB's or recalls have been issued for this problem.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine rpms began to fluctuate between 4,000 and 5,000 and the vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph. The contact noticed smoke escaping from under the hood and as the failure was investigated, flames began erupting from the hood area. The fire department reported to the scene and a report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where it was deemed as destroyed. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 03v471000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) which could have been related to the failure but the contact was advised by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The check engine light came on for the evap system. Had it checked out at the dealership and they found a broken hose fitting in the top of the fuel tank in the fuel pump control module.

My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica stalls when a left hand turn is made at highway speed or in parking lots. This is very, very dangerous because you lose braking and power steering. The gas gauge goes from half a tank to empty within a matter of 50 miles or less. When you try to re-fuel it you only get about ten gallons to go in after about ten minutes of the nozzle clicking off repeatedly. Called Chrysler dealer and they have never heard of any of these problems. Took car in and they found nothing wrong. I know for a fact that a dtc of p1861 is and was present. This codes means that a fuel tank siphon line is disconnected. This vehicle makes me and my family nervous to drive. We can not afford to trade and can not afford any costly repair bills with no positive outcome. Please help to get Chrysler to issue a recall to fix the problem that is occurring with so, so so many 2005 Pacificas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Fire in the engine compartment that ended up in a total loss of the vehicle. Auto adjuster notified the fuel line caused the fire.
Bought 2005 Chrysler Pacifica in July 2006. Since that time I have had numerous problems with the vehicle. When the gas gauge is at approximately 1/3 tank of gas it suddenly drops to empty and begins stalling upon turns. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they did not know what the problem was and asked me to bring the vehicle back when it was at approximately 1/3 tank so they could do testing. I was without my vehicle one whole day for this and did not have time to take it back again. Next, I received a recall notice that claimed to fix the stalling problem. Yesterday I took my vehicle in to have the recall performed. Again, I was without my vehicle all day. Today, after the recall, my vehicle is still having the same problems. The gas gauge dropped suddenly to empty and began stalling at this point. There are other problems that may be related. After the car is reading empty and I proceed to put gasoline in the tank it will only allow 13 gallons to be pumped, the owners manual claims that the vehicle has a 23 gallon tank. However, I have never been able to put more than 13 gallons of gas in the tank. Also, every now and then when I try to put fuel in the tank, the hose will continually shut off as if the vehicle is full. Sometimes this happens the whole time I am filling up and I have to just keep on clicking, clicking, clicking . . . To get the gas to go into the vehicle. These problems have caused our family much distress and the stalling is a very real safety issue. Thank you for your help with this. Susan ashcraft.
While driving vehicle stalled. Consumer managed to restart the vehicle. Recall 03v471000 was issued, but dealerships had no parts for repair.
Consumer received recall 03v471000 regarding fuel line leakage. Consumer spoke with manufacturer on three occasions about this particular recall. Manufacturer repeatedly informed the consumer that the recall did not exist.
Concerned with the length of time it took Chrysler to notify him of fuel tube recall. Recall# 03v471000.
