When I started the car, the check engine light came on and the word 'gascap' appeared in place of the car's mileage. I read the owner's manual and followed directions to reset the message after tightening gas cap. It had no effect. I went to autozone and had them run a free diagnostic scan which returned the diagnosis evaporative emission system leak. I installed a new gas cap and followed directions to reset message. The check engine light and 'gascap' message remain.

My husband was driving and suddenly the car started smoking we pulled over, the fire fighters were called. They had to break the dashboard in order to stop the fire. They spray the car with water inside and out. Car was total. The fire fighters thought that it was possibly the wire that stared the fire. Radio and light on dashboard did not work in one point, it started working again by itself.
Obtained car brand new in 2006, yr later had to replace engine, was said they gave us a new one, prior to that we had sunroof issue that still persist to this day 6years later. . . Electrical off. One minute you have gas and next minute literally fuel light is on. . Fast forward a tad 2007 stalling problems,. . . Fast forward even more 30,000miles later. . . . Stalling allllllllot, especially while I'm driving with my kids. Making a u-turn and just simply parking into a space no go. . Gas cap light is on, check engine light on. . . . Currently vehicle is at dealership which was charging us $2,632. 00 to fix problems, besides overcharging ridiculously, Chrysler offered to pay most of bill after doing research and realizing we were getting ripped off, a two day job is now turned into 1week, no vehicle, no loaner. . 6yrs. Later failed emissions test is what prompted me to take it to a dealership. . . Now I cannot pass an emissions test nor register my vehicle @ end month>( today). Would like to trade, however they low balled me & said $4,000. They cannot get car to reset, and still could not find out why it is stalling. After letting dealership know I have an open case seems like they are singing a different tune. . . Still no car/ no fix. . .
My gas pedal sticks while driving the car or after I stop the car at a light or sign. When at a complete stop, I have to push hard on the pedal, which makes the car lurch forward. When I am driving on the expressway, it gets stuck and I am not able to accelerate, which can cause an accident. I see that I am not the only one with this problem. I took the car to the dealership, the tech knew what I was talking about, said that it was a throttle body assembly that gets old and needs to be replaced for 200 bucks. If this is happening on the majority of the Pacificas, why do the consumers need to pay to have it replaced. This is a strict liability negligence, not my fault.

About 5 months ago my car would not stop completely when braking. I would let off brakes and reapply & it still did not stop promptly. Abs light came on & engine light came on. I took it to Chrysler repair center in delray beach florida. They said my nvl pump & abs sensor needed replaced. They also said if I do not replace the nvl pump my car will begin to stall. The car began stalling about 3-4 weeks later. It happened about 4-6 times at low speeds or when the car was at idol. I had the pump replaced by another mechanic a few weeks later. The car kept stalling after the part was replaced. Then the car started completely lock up & turn off right in the middle of driving. I have no power, no steering. . . Nothing. I can't believe I haven't been in an accident yet! I took it back in to 3 different mechanics for an inspection & diagnostic. All three mechanics say now I have O2 sensors & mounts that are bad. They all say that everything else is fine. They all 3 say the mounts & O2 sensors doesn't explain why the car stalls & locks up/turns off while driving. My last mechanic ran a recall search for my car & found a recall for my make & model that completely explains my problem. However when I called Chrysler back in the middle of January they said my VIN # does not qualify?!?!? I called Chrysler home office to see if there was some kind of error as to why my car is not eligible for the recall & they haven't called back. How can Chrysler not honor this defect in my car when it honors it in others. It is dangerous. I have 2 children that I drive around. I need my car to be safe. I have researched that many other people with my car have the same exact problems. Chrysler obviously is aware of the problem but will not deal with it. This should be illegal! please can someone help me?.
1) when depressing the acclerator pedel about 1/4" it catches or sticks. 2) you must force the pedel down to "unstick" causing a rapid acceleration of the vehichle 3) dealer says its a defective throttle body, and not covered under warranty or recall.
I have a 2005 chyrsler Pacifica. The gas pedal is sticking. It sticks hard enough that you have to forcefully push the accelerator peddle down. This causes unwanted rapid acceleration! the problem is getting worse in the past three weeks. The pedal has gotten stuck four times. I was backing out of a parking space and the car accelerated in reverse. Unsure, if my family car is safe, for my family.
Gas pedal sticks/jams. Have to stomp on gas pedal to unstick which causes the car to speed forward or backward.
Throttle sticks or will not move for first 1/4" of travel. When the pedal finally becomes unstuck, this causes rapid acceleration in stop and go traffic.
I have recently made a complaint to Chrysler about a 2004 Pacifica that I bought about 4mos ago. I know that my car may be out of "dealer warranties", but when there are things going on with your vehicle that's under recall, something should be done about before someone is injured or even killed. My gas pedal sticks, my car has stalled off on several occasions while turning in the middle of an intersection, and my fuel system was not holding or distributing fuel properly and my motor mounts are broken! I can't afford to pay for my car monthly, and pay for repairs that are almost going on with all 2004 Pacificas'. I park my car only to use one vehicle that 2 adults and a17 and18yr have to travel with when 3 of the 4 of these persons work. Life is hard and its not fair that the "big companies" continue to get away with it and the hard working person is falling deeper and deeper into a do it the best way you can situation. Problems with the fuel system have supposedly been fixed and they are included in a recall that doesn't include my VIN but my make and model and year! come on America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
At any given time when pressing on the accelerator, the accelerator locks up and does not depress. After several attempts it releases and lurches forward. This has been going on for at least 6 months now. It happens about 4 or 5 times per week. No repairs done to date. Vehicle should be recalled for this defect.
2005 Chrysler Pacifica throttle requires excessive force to depress causing the vehicle to lurch forward when the throttle finally moves. We reported the issue to our dealer approximately 18 months ago. They seemed to have prior knowledge of the issue and repaired it while the vehicle was in for repairs after striking a dog (unreleated to the defect). Now the issue has returned and when my wife called to schedule service to have the issue repaired again the dealership wouldn't schedule a time to repair the defect and actually acted as if they weren't aware of the issue and would need several hours to troubleshoot the issue prior to repairing it. I researched the issue online and evidently this is an issue with the throttle body assembly which typically takes an hour of labor time to treat the symptom which eventually returns. It also seems to be a common issue with the Pacifica. The issue with our vehicle is becomming serious and now that our local dealership in lugoff, SC seems to have no desire to help us I'm not sure where to take it for repair.
Defective sticking gas pedal on Chrysler Pacifica.
Ongoing issue with gas pedal sticks intermittently at idle since November 2009. Have to press gas pedal very hard to unstick causing vehicle to jump forward or backward rapidly.
The car will stall at intermittent times when going at low speeds and low rpms. The stalling causes the steering wheel to freeze up. The car will start immediately after the stall. I have taken the car to an authorized Chrysler dealer, darcars, several times and they cannot diagnose the problem. It appears similar in nature to the safety recall f44 which was issued on later Chrysler Pacifica models in 2005-2006. The issue occurs almost daily and have not had any parts replaced because the Chrysler mechanic, darcars, cannot duplicate the issue. I have brought this stalling issue up with Chrysler and opened up a case, # 19090751, which they closed because they stated that my car was outside the safety recall f44 as well as that darcars could not replicate the problem. The stalling is intermittent, as stated previously, and I have sent the logs to darcars as to when it happens.
Ongoing issue with gas pedal sticks intermittently at idle. Have to press gas pedal very hard to unstick causing vehicle to jump forward or backward rapidly.
2005 awd Chrysler Pacifica, gas pedal binds requiring driver to overpressure the pedal to move forward. Once overpowered the car can lurch forward from the sudden over fuel condition.
Gas gauge drops from 1/2 to empty in seconds if you don't get to a gas station quickly the vehicle will shut off. There is no warning. Vehicle still has gas but will shut off. We have been stranded several times on the interstate. Very dangerous for a family. According to searches I have made lots of 2005 Pacificas have the same problem starting at around 45,000 miles. I haven't found any answers to the problem.
My wife and I own a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, which we are having a problem with the gas pedal sticking. While accelerating the pedal sticks and jerks you forward until you have smooth acceleration while pushing the gas pedal. I feel this is a safety problem. We have been to the dealers about this and they say everything is fine but have noticed the problem themselves. I have noticed that there is alot of the same problems after browsing the internet that others are having the same problem. This is going to get someone killed if this isn't looked into. Thank you.
Accelerator sticks in idle position. The problem is continuous once engine reaches operating temperature. Occasionally accelerator sticks requiring very heavy foot pressure to break loose causing the vehicle to lurch forward.
Car stalled while accelerating after idling at stop light.
