Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off while traveling at 70 mph without warning. The contact stated that after the failure occurred, he was unable to restart the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact initially towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic, the vehicle was then towed to his home. The contact called the manufacturer where he was informed that there were no recalls on his vehicle, they offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or serviced. The vehicle had also yet to be repaired. Despite the vehicle not being diagnosed, the contact has linked his failure to the fuel pump relay. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000. Jo.
When locking and unlocking door loud buzzing sound ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Wife was driving. Then engine went to full throttle, would not slow down. She rode the brakes all the way home, switched from neutral to drive, van would jump into gear when she would shift back to drive, felt like brakes were not working well enough (probably glazed). Almost wrecked, could hardly stop. Very dangerous situation.
Fuel relay on tipm is faulty resulting in not starting and stalling while driving. It is very dangerous that this problem has not been addressed by a recall.
Losing all electrical while driving down the road for about 2 seconds and then comes back on with everything reset . Happens 1-2x per week.
I don't know much about vehicles. So when I get the obd scanned to make sure things are good to sell my van and it throws back many error codes, I was surprised. I thought the vibration/shaking was minor or just because I only had 4 out 6 engine mounts replaced. I was told the tipm was bad, the transmission, the tire pressure sensors don't work. The eco drive doesn't work. I was told that there was a problem with mine that was recalled but only on half of the vehicles and my VIN wasn't one of them recalled even though it's the same problem. I was told the main fuse panel under the hood needs replaced. From what I was told, all the needed repairs will cost about as much as I paid for the vehicle itself. There have been lights on the dash since a few days after I bought it but the obd didn't want to put out any reading. I named her christine because she seems to have a mind of her own. The rpm's go sky high whenever they feel like it so I often have to pull over, turn it off and wait about 5 minutes. I didn't know where to turn to get help with this before it nickel and dimes me into the even more poor house.
My car has been out of commission for about 2 months off and on. The auto shop that I send it to has replaced the fuel pump 4 times before zeroing in on the problem which apparently is the tipum, an electronic piece. After doing research on the internet, there is a recall on this piece for issues involving the fuel pump stoping operation while the vehicle is running. This recall does not effect my car, but this exact problem is affecting my car. I'm wondering what's going on there and if there have been other reports of this. Thanks for your time, leonard dalton leonarddalton@outlook. Com (928) 699 8119.
Apparently Chrysler has a problem with their tipm from years 2011 to 2013. I just had to do a fuel relay bypass on my 2011 town and country because they did not tissue a recall for all males and models with this problem. They should not be allowed to refuse because all models most likely used the same tipm.
The driver side door of my Chrysler town and country has suddenly seized and refuses to open. I have researched the problem and it appears to be a faulty actuator. In my research I found many others with similar problems and thought it a safety concern. If my child or anyone needed to exit the vehicle quickly this would be impossible. If the other door were to seize up at the same time then there would be no wait to exit the rear of the vehicle safely. In my situation the doors functioned properly when we entered the vehicle but then refused to unlock or open despite my best efforts when we arrived at our destination. I have not been able to open the door since the actuator failed, manually or electronically.
Driving down the road and the radio just randomly shuts down. Screen goes black for about 10 seconds, then restarts itself. All pre-saved stations are still there but it's almost like we turned the car off, then turned it back on. Happens quite a bit - about once a week or more. Passenger sliding door makes a terrible noise when opening and closing. Not grinding, its definitely something electrical. Passenger seat and both middle bucket seat heaters have stopped working.
Tipm failure, faulty fuel pump relay. Car cranks but will not start. Fuel pump replaced and same issue occurs.
Body control module is going out so the heat stops working. All the lights on the dashboard come on including the security light randomly. The air bags may or may not deploy. The windshield wipers come on by themselves. Happens when the vehicle is in motion or stationary. In the city and on the highway.
As stated previously, I had to have it towed because it would not turn on when I put the key in the ignition, mickey's garage told me that when they unplugged the battery and let it sit for little it started up, but they could not fix it, because they said it would do it again, that it should be checked out by a Chrysler dealer. It stop on me in the family dollar parking lot.
On November 14, 2019 I was traveling with my 18 year old son to detroit metro airport. We were entering the entrance ramp of I-94 & us 23. We were traveling at 65mph. As I was merging onto i94 traffic, my 2011 Town & Country lost all power. The car completely shut down. I was unable to steer the car, brake the car. I was fortunately not involved in an accident. I am noting that the only key(fob) on the key ring was the key fob it self. Prior to this incident (past 8 years we've owned this vehicle) we have never encountered such an incident. The van did require a tow and we are currently waiting on the problem that caused this incident from the Chrysler dealership in saline, mi (lafontaine Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram saline) phone # 1-866-593-6805. The reason I'm filing this complaint is due to noticing several thousand similar incidents from various chat forums. The key fob seems to be a point of interest as to why the vehicle all of a sudden loses power and shuts down in the act of driving. Please do not hesitate to call or email me for further information or questions regarding this complaint. Phone: (michael miller -- 7349447751, email. Wflowerdm@aol. Com).
While driving our 2011 Chrysler Town & Country ltd. On a city street, the vehicle lost all power which almost caused us to have a severe accident as there was traffic ron front of and behind us. . Because of this, we lost power steering and power brakes. My husband and I were driving with 3 of our younger children in the van. Thank god my husband was able to manually turn the steering wheel to get us off of the main street into a driveway. He also had to severely stomp on the brakes to get the van to stop. This problem was caused by the tipm. The circuit for the fuel pump is faulty within the circuit board. This seems to be a recurring issue with Chrysler vans, not just the durango & jeeps. This needs to be recalled as soon as possible before someone gets killed. We were on the highway just the day before and this would've been deadly had it happened driving at 65/70 mph.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that it took approximately three to five attempts to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to south chicago Chrysler and Jeep (located at 7340 s western Ave, chicago, IL 60636) where the tipm was replaced; however, the failure recurred. Currently, it took up to fifteen attempts to start the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and could not assist. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 188,793.
This vehicle quit while driving but was able to restart and drive to a parking spot and now wont restart do to failed (tipm) thoroughly integrated power module failure to supply power to fuel pump . After further investigation & diagnosis many similar Chrysler products have same issues , or recalls this needs to be a safety issue recall?.
The "wireless ignition node receiver" on our 2011 chysler Town & Country broke in October 2019 (with under 100,000 miles). This is where our key is inserted to start our minivan. The minivan stills starts and shuts off, but the key won't stay in the ignition. Unfortunately, we don't have the $400-500 needed to replace the ignition receiver. The dangerous part of this is that the key pops out at random times, while we are driving. The key pops out and lands on the floor underneath our feet while we are driving. Sometimes this happens when we are driving on the freeway at freeway speeds. This action is enormously distracting and could potentially cause an accident. Sometimes, we are forced to start the van with the key and drop the key into the console, but then we have to go hunting for the key in order to shut the van off. Apparently, these ignition nodes are known to be problematic in minivans just 2 or 3 years older than ours, and recalls have already been filed for those years. We are wondering if and when the recall for our 2011 van will catch up to the problems these minivans are having.
Our 2011 Town & Country started having starting/stalling issues about 3 months ago - mind you there is only about 81k miles on the vehicle. The dealer first replaced the power module in September, then the issue returned only to be causing more electrical issues. The car was taken back to the dealer and it was explained then that they had to replace the power module due to a faulty relay. This is the exact same issue that other Chrysler/Dodge vehicles of the same year are being recalled for. The stalling was dangerous as it happened while driving. This has been a very costly problem without a recall being issued - although vehicles using the same engine and components are being recalled. Please help escalate this.
All dash alerts flashed (at times independently or together, wipers came on, speed gauge indicators moved wildly). There was no correlation to timing, speed, etc. As to the events. Approximately 5 months earlier the backup camera stopped working. I was told by a dealership that the radio needed to be replaced. Had the radio replaced. Had the tipm replaced, still having the same problem, nothing has changed. Presently, at the dealership where I have been told they will have many hours involved in diagnosing the problem? have read the 165 complaints which are the same as what I am experiencing. Still leaning toward the tipm replacement is also defective.
On my driver side the sliding door does not open, not remotley or manual. The light at the overhead button to open the door with come on sometimes but will not open the door either. I can hear a clicking sound trying to open the door with the remote but it still will not move at all.
In motion at 70 mph on i75 my tire pressure system indicated a flat tire. Becoming distracted and trying to quickly get to the shoulder almost caused an accident. Once on the shoulder the tire pressure went back to 39 psi. While keeping an eye on it all 4 tires would fluctuate from 295 psi to 0 psi setting off a audible warning every time it dropped below 30psi. Since this electrical problem began two weeks ago I have been having issues with the vehicle starting, once to the point where I was stranded and have to have it towed. The mechanics could not find anything wrong because it started for them. They did let me know that the tipm has been known to cause all these issues and that Chrysler was aware of it but not doing anything. It is a safety concern when random components and diagnostic sensor start going off at random while driving down the interstate. Being potentially stranded with multiple small children can also be a safety concern in my honest opinion.
Intermetint wipers don't work,, blind spot detection system doesn't work.
Rear passenger sliding doors will not fully close and lock when pushing close button. Doors have to be manually pushed closed from the outside to close the last quarter inch and to have the door close mechanism engage. This present a safety risk to 2nd row passengers as the doors are not fully secured.
My van has an electrical glitch where all the dadh components will flicker and the gauges will go up and down repeatedly and every couple days the car will completely shut off (no power steering, no gas) we have put it in the shop at least 5 times and the Chrysler dealership said they cant duplicate the problem and there for they cant do anything. The dealership also said they dont have enough complaints to look into what the problem is. I am hoping that Chrysler will fix their mistakes.
Fuel pump relay prematurely fails inside the total integrated power module (tipm) causing loss of control while driving. The fuel relay fuse is not replaceable as it is hard wired inside the tipm. The entire tipm unnecessarily needs replaced at great expense and labor of nearly $1,800 for what should be an inexpensive fuse. Other Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep vehicles have been recalled and repaired for the same issue, but not the Chrysler Town & Country minivans. The manufacturer and its dealerships is avoiding a recall so that this model ages out and permanently disposed so that it doesn't have to do a recall.
Vehicle would completely lose power, shutting off engine. This could happen while stopped or moving at any speed, even highways. Took to mechanic where he found a faulty win module. Diagnostic found dtc for low voltage to tcm. Moving key fob would cause vehicle to lose power and shut down, but so could normal road vibration. Removed and replaced win module and problem went away.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle intermittently stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the wireless win module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to st. Charles Nissan (5625 veterans memorial pkwy, st peters, mo 63376, (636) 441-4481) where it was diagnosed that the wire harness module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 57,711. The VIN was invalid.
I was in two accidents and the airbag did not deploy. The electrical for the trunk and windows do not work, and the door electrical is a fire hazard.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. Every time the vehicle was turned off, the fuel pump motor continued to run until the battery was drained. The contact had to constantly disconnect the fuse to the pump to keep from purchasing a new battery. The contact stated that the failure occurred every day for the past twenty days. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the total power control module failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 82,299.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the vehicle turned off completely without warning and had to be towed on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to renton Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (585 rainier Ave s, renton, wa 98057) where they stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was currently at the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000.
As we drive the van will shut off. We experience loss of power steering, brakes, and all other functions. It will happen on the highway and city streets. Both low and high speeds. It has put me and my family at great danger! it has happened multiple times. Regardless of fuel levels, or outside temperature. We have had it in our local dealership many times, with no resolution.
Passanger side sliding door will not lock. The lock itself is stuck in lock position. But it will not move by any power device. And will not budge by manual. All doors will lock but that one. There are many youtube videos showing this issue. Saying it is the actuator.
On Friday morning, my wife went to start the van but none of the lights turned on. After checking the voltage of the battery, we found that it was completely drained. The night before, she heard a humming noise coming from the rear of the vehicle after the van was off. We were able to jump the van to get it started. Once it started, it ran great. The next day, we tried to start it again but this time the engine struggled to start. It took a couple of tries before we got it started. Jumping the engine did not have positive results. We decided to take it to our auto mechanic and he diagnosed a faulty fuel pump relay. He found that faulty fuel relays are very common in 2011-2013 vehicles, but Jeep grand cherokee and Dodge durangos were the only vehicles recalled and fitted with an external relay. I am submitting this complaint in hopes of issuing a recall for all vehicles affected, more specifically, the 2011 Chrysler town and country. Below is a link to a website designed specifically for this issue. . Read more...
