1 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/31/2020

The srs (airbag warning light) came on while driving and then stayed on constantly on my wife's 2009 Chrysler Town & Country van in July 2020. I took the van into the local Chrysler dealership for diagnostics. They found that the occupant restraint module was faulty and needed to be replaced by part # 68148358aa (occupant restraint module). The dealer charged me $735 for the repair. After the repair was made I did some research and found that Chrysler had a recall for faulty occupant restraint modules on Chrysler town and country vehicles manufactured June 18, 2007, to August 31, 2008. The recall number is s07. I checked the manufacturing date on our Chrysler town and country vehicle and found that it was manufactured in September 2008 (one month after the date range for recall s07). I called Chrysler and asked if our van should be covered since it had the same problem as described in recall s07. The response was that the VIN number was not included in the recall and that the VIN number range in the recall was set by the NHTSA. It appears that other owners of 2009 chrylser Town & Country vans manufactured after August 2008 are experiencing the same failures of the orc modules. I would like the NHTSA to investigate to see if the same issue that caused recall s07 is present on the Chrysler town and country vans manufactured after the August 2008 manufacturing date. When I asked the Chrysler customer care department if they would reimburse me for the replacement of the orc assembly they said no and that the only way they would reimburse me is if the VIN number range was extended by the NHTSA (case number 76954596). Would you please investigate and if you find the issue that lead to recall s07 exists in Chrysler town and country vans manufactured after August 2008, extend the recall to include all the vans that have this condition? thank you!.

5 Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/10/2017

Without warning the engine and all electrical components (interior and exterior lighting, radio, wipers, ac-heat/blower, brake assist, steering assist, airbag, speed indicator, etc) all shut off. There are no dash warning lights. The dashboard is completely black for a moment (until restart). This happened while the car was warm (after driving at highway speed for over 15min). This happened while the car was travelling at approximately 35-miles per hour on a city street. I was able to put the car in neutral and immediately restart without stopping. This was an extremely dangerous situation. If I was on a poorly lit road or going around a corner, or at a higher speed, or a less experienced driver, this could easily have been a fatal accident. This was previously reported to Chrysler and thye reported the problem 'fixed' less than 1-year ago (reported to Chrysler corporate in early August 2017 and supposedly fixed by a Chrysler dealership August 11 2017). The problem is not fixed. This happens without warning and very limited (less than once per month). It seems more frequent in cold weather. It has happened at other times, often a minute or so after starting the vehicle, while warming up. It has happened other times while driving (about 4-times since purchase in November 2014), but I do not recall the dates and time.

10 Warning Light On problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/04/2017

I have a airbag warning light on my dash, I found out that there was a "safety improvement campaign" j-38 and x-26, NHTSA campaign id number: 10v008000, NHTSA action number: rq09003. I went to my local dealer ( robert loehr ) in cartersville GA and was told that my van was not covered under this "safety improvement campaign" because my VIN was not part of the campaign that I would have to pay out of pocket for the repair. I then called Chrysler and spoke to torie and she said that it was only for vehicle in the "salt belt" but my van's VIN was built in the same time frame as the defective part but because my van VIN was not part of the campaign she would have to have me talk to someone in customer service. I spoke to emily and she stated that because my VIN was not part of the campaign I would have to pay out of pocket. I then spoke to her supervisor mike and told me the same thing but that after I got the repairs made to contact them to see if I was eligible for an reimbursement. It sounds to me that Chrysler knows there is a problem with this sensor but they only want to replace the ones where there it snow and they salt the roads. I live in north georgia and we have snow and they salt the road plus what about people that travel into area (like me) where it snows and they use salt. Chrysler knows there is a problem with this part and should replace it no matter where live. In the letter Chrysler sent to NHTSA they state " however, Chrysler has informed NHTSA that it will provide the modifications described above at no cost" but yet they want me to pay out of pocket for repairs on their defective part. I feel this should be "under the safety act" because Chrysler knows there is a safety problem with my vehicle but refuse to cover it under their "safety improvement campaign".

Failure Date: 09/14/2016

I have major electrical issues with my van that involves several components including my airbags. While driving down the road the wipers operate uncontrolably several warning lights come on including the airbag light. The blind spot indicators and park assist and traction control abs is all unavailable at the time of it acting up. I have taken it to several dealerships all Chrysler and none of them can diagnose the issue. The vehicle acts up no matter what it is doing whether it is driving down the road or stationary. This problem has been going on since it had 41,000 miles on it and sisnce I purchased it used with 41,000 miles on it. I have talked with Chrysler headquarters and they will not respond to me by email or phone call at this time. They initially talked to me and said they would be of no financial assistance to me because the factory warranty is up, and not they will not respond to my calls or emails.

21 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 10/17/2015

The symptoms on my minivan are identical to those found in the following recall, but because mine is registered in CO, it is assumed by Chrysler that this minivan has never traveled extensively in the covered states or that conditions in CO couldn't possibly be similar. I'm disgusted with the impotence of NHTSA concerning citizen representation and the suspiciously convenient, money saving partial recall on these air bag sensors. I discovered my sensor failure while transporting my family back from a trip to estes park, CO during a heavy, wet snow storm. (go figure!) the warning light came on intermittently for a several months, but eventually stayed on continuously. Report receipt date: Jan 11, 2010 NHTSA campaign number: 10v008000 component(s): air bags.
