- the contact owns a 1999 Dodge Caravan. While driving 40 mph and at any speed the gear shifted into neutral without warning. The driver had to stop the vehicle, put the vehicle in park, and it accelerated a few times before she could drive forward. The gear shift indicator was in the drive position, but the vehicle would not move forward. She stated that the failure was due to a continuous transmission leak. The dealer informed her that there have been failures on the rubber transmission lines. The dealer advised the driver to her call the corporate office and the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The contact did not feel the vehicle was safe to drive, and the leak could cause a fire. The current mileage was 58,000. The failure mileage was 57,500.

(under sized transmissions, inadequate sized cooling lines and internal parts) the transmissions did not last over and average of 25k miles and had to be replaced more than once at times. While driving, the dash showed everything being, normal, the vehicle suddenly started to smoke. The transmission was not responsive. The transmission dripped balls of flames.

Automatic transmission failure. 2000 Dodge Caravan. With only 54000miles, it felt like it was losing acceleration uphill. Immediately pulled over. Towed to dealership and they said a hydralic hose broke and that the tranny would have to be rebuilt to the tune of $2700! get real. These trannies are obviously having problems!.
While vehicle was inside of the driveway backing out transmission fluid was leaking.
When vehicle is parked transmission fluid would leak out and make it difficult to down shift or upshif. Vehicle had been at dealer four times for transmission fluid leaks. Mechanic will clean and check leakage coolant hose which had been replaced. Please provide more information.
Tranmission fluid was leaking inside of vehicle. There was fluid all over pedals. Consumer took the vehicle to dealerslership because there was transmission fluid all over floorboard.
Noted leakage of transmission fluid form underside of engine - down close to 1 qt. In 3,000 miles. Problem traced to loose coolant clamps at radiator. Servie department indicated they ahd seen many of these lately.
While on interstate heard a crack. Consumer looked out rear view and saw smoke. Pulled over, and looked under car and saw transmission fluid pouring out.
Had pulled into station. Restarted vehicle & was shifting into gear when vehicle jerked. The transmission fluid leaked out. Will be taking vehicle to dealer.
Consumer heard a spraying sound from the transmission when the vehicle was in operation. This sound occurred when driving at any speed. Also, when slowing down consumer heard a clicking noise. Dealer responded by saying the sounds that consumer heard were normal for this vehicle.
