The contact owns a 1996 Dodge Caravan. When the key is not in the ignition, the vehicle will shift out of the park position. The vehicle backed into a fence and then struck a tree. The dealer and manufacturer have not been notified. The VIN and engine size were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 110,000.

Vehicle was parked in a level parking lot, and while idling in neutral vehicle suddenly slipped into reverse inadvertently. Then, vehicle rolled backwards into another vehicle's left side panel in front of the left rear wheel. The consumer was caught in the drivers side door and dragged to the ground.

The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Caravan. While his spouse was driving 70mph, the gear box lit up and the vehicle shut off. The contact immediately merged the vehicle to the side of the road and was able to restart it. After shifting in reverse, the vehicle drove forward. The dealer could not duplicate the problem. The failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 9,365 and the current mileage was 39,000.

While driving vehicle's transmission indicator gives false readings. Transmission also slips out of gear in reverse. Dealers stated wires were faulty.

Parking gear shifter can be placed into to drive or reverse without applying the brakes first. The dealer has been contacted, and told consumer that this was a normal operation.
