Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings Problems of Dodge Caravan

The contact owns a 2002 Dodge Caravan. The contact smelled an overpowering gasoline odor from the vehicle and then noticed that gasoline was leaking from the fuel line. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The current and the failure mileages were 98,000. The VIN was unavailable.

This complaint is for a 2004 Dodge Caravan the problem occurs when the gas tank is filled. The vehicle stalls and runs rough for several miles and sometimes many more. I believe the defect is the liquid/vapor valve built into the top of the fuel tank. It fails and allows fuel into the evac canister and vapor lines which could explode or cause a fire as they are not designed to hold gasoline. Chrysler seems to care less. I'm sure when people start to burn to death something will be done. Thank you.

1999 Dodge Caravan with approx 195,000 miles. Plastic fuel line attached to gas tank experienced spontaneous rupture and spewed gasoline onto muffler. I noted a trail of liquid coming from vehicle when backed out of drive. Stopped and looked under vehicle to see gasoline pouring out and onto hot muffler. Car turned off in middle of the street and emergency exited vehicle to begin removing contents in fear of explosion. Dodge reports no recall and to replace fuel line entire gas tank needs replacement at cost of $530 for just the part. This could have been a catastrophic incident if I had not noted the liquid trails before the muffler heated up more. When moving the car out of the street, the driver door was damaged as the engine was off and control was difficult.

Most of the hoses are leaking due to plastic clips not holding in cold weather.

Recall 00v268999 concerning fuel leakage. Gasoline odor/fume was getting into the vehicle when idling or at a stop position. Consumer contacted the dealer about this recall. Dealer informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under this recall due to VIN.

I have a broken fuel line on my '1997 Dodge Caravan,3. 0l engine. This is the exact same fuel line problem that Dodge had a recall on in the 3. 3 and 3. 8l engine on all 1997 Dodge Caravans , recalled I think November, 2000. I went to my local dealer to have the problem fixed, but they refused to honor the recall repair because I had a 3. 0 engine. The problem is the same. I think Dodge should take care of the repair as well as recall these engines too. All engine sizes on this make and model for the year 1997 should be looked at. My mother-in-law was driving the vehicle at the time the fuel line erupted. The Mini van could have caught fire. The fuel sprayed all over the engine.

Flexible fuel hose which comes from the fuel tank into the fuel rail cracked, causing a fuel leak which may start a fire. No replacement readily available-line was shortened and reused, but failed again twice with severe fuel leaks each time.

Fuel lines were disconnected from the gas tank, vehicle was repaired at owners expense. Dealer contacted, and cannot duplicate the problem.

Seal at the top of the gas tank failed, causing leakage. Also on another occasion a clip at the fuel filter broke, disconnecting the gas line, causing vehicle to experience failure.

Vehicle suffered three fuel tank failures. In between the three failures the consumer had the vehicle in the repair shop on multiple occasions to have the fuel system inspected. Because the smell of fuel was so powerful windows had to be closed while operating the vehicle. The dealer was notified about the defective fuel pump assembly and refused to reimburse the consumers for repairs made. Please respond promptly in resolving matters.

Consumer was in a parking area and the high pressure fuel came loose, truck stopped. Please describe .

Recall remdey did not correct the problem for the fuel tank rollover valve is allowing fuel to pass into the vapor canister. Recall 95v236000. Please give any further details.
