Tank Filler Pipe And Cap Problems of Dodge Caravan

06 Dodge Caravan (fmi handicap conversion)- issue spewing gasoline: >filled up approx 9am Aug 4th 2011 > parked at residence > 2pm preparng to go out-of-town > heard humming from left rear > noticed gas cap appear "cross-threaded" & was "hissing" > me in a electric wheelchiar, parked facing cap > my son turned cap > gas spewed out like a fire hydrant point blank in my face > gas did not just spray, it spewed out over a half a tank, spewing it 18-20 feet, lasting about a minute. > Dodge mfg srv ctr said (troy), "not sure what caused it, we think it was a closed selinoid purge valve cause mech blew in it & couldn't get no air through it" > I said "you think?!" > he (troy) stated. . . "all we can say is, go fill it up, drive it around, & see if it does it again" > no error code nor did the "check engine" light ever come on. . . It should have! note: I'm a 42yo completely disabled [muscular dystrophy-no movement in legs/arms/body], I'm in a electric wheelchair. . . I have no choice but to use the van, but no one has given me a certain diagnosis, no one knows what could cause the gas to build so much pressure. The cap can't be "cross-threaded", there was so much pressure it in the process of blowing up. . . . Thank god it didn't! please help?.

2001 Dodge Caravan - private mechanic replaced fuel filter, had to drop gas tank to do so as that is only access. This resulted in total disconnect from fuel neck filler line, etc. After replacement and reinstall of gas tank, engine light comes on. Mechanic tried to fix, replaced gas cap. Cannot get light to go off. Will have to drop gas tank again in future for repair. No other codes coming up for engine light. Reason: compression leak in fuel line, system.

Gas leak at the top, before the overflow when filling. Have a shop checked, thinking there was a leak in the gas tank. The shop found no leak. Brought to local dealer to find if there is or was any recall that I missed. Dealer said that thre is none and if I want it fix I have to pay for it. I strongly recommend a recall.

The dashboard illuminated. Took vehicle to the dealer, and was told the fuel system had a leak. Also, air was getting into the system. Found that the fuel filler neck had to be replaced because it was corroded.

Engine check light came on due to gas cap failure.

The consumer was never notified of recall 96v-002 of the fuel filler tube, as a result the static buildup caused 2 fires while the consumer and son attempted to fill the vehicle, no one was injured only singed hairs on arms and leg. Nlm.

Filled vehicle with fuel. Noticed that fuel had leaked out of tank. Mechanic checked it & noticed defective "o" ring. Recall on fuel tank 396v002000.

There is a strong smell of gas in and outside the van. Consumer looked at fuel tank, and found fuel leaking from around the top of the tank and from some of the seams. The fuel tank was replaced by the dealer under a service contract.

Upon filling gas tank, gas would spill out onto the pavement.

Fuel tank filler pipe cracked, causing a leak prior to recall (96v-002).

Dealer does not have parts available to repair recall no. 96v002000.

Vehicle leaking gasoline from under the drivers side in the front of the vehicle, replaced fuel vapor recovery canister/gas cap/gas tank. Tt.

Mfr 670 NHTSA 96v002; keene Chrysler, Plymouth nh. , would not schedule to replace filler tube. Told owner go to another dealer or where he purchased it.

While driving the vehicle suddenly accelerated and wouldn't reverse. There was a loud noise coming from underneath the hood. The dealership indicated that the transmission failed. Also, there was a fuel leak. The dealership replaced the filler neck front seal. The transmission was replaced. *.

A hole has developed in the gas tank, where the filler tube connects into the tank, which causes fuel leakage. Please give any further details.
