On [xxx], at 5 pm, at [xxx] , the vehicle went into park, but showed as reverse, and the key was unable to be removed, or turn the electrical system off, or place the vehicle in park. I contacted the general insurance company roadside assistance; a tow truck was dispatched. It took several hours, 2-3 hrs. For the driver to arrive. He stated he was familiar with phillips cjdr, and new exactly where and how to leave the vehicle. I removed all personal effects for safety and security. I contacted phillips cjdr the next day on [xxx] and requested service, I was told they would contact me. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

For the fourth time the gear shift cable has broken making it hard to get vehicle out of the way.
Shift cable malfunction unable to put into park. Unable to put into park meant it stuck in reverse. No warning lights noted until after problem occurred. Shift cable replaced by self.
I just had the bushing cable fixed for the open recall issue. It is giving me a somewhat similar issue. I can shift to park, neutral, and reverse, but not drive. Cannot shift manually to drive either.

Went to drive home from work. Started car and shifted from park to drive but car stayed in park. Shifted back to park and back to drive and the transmission did shift to drive. Didn’t think much of it until I got home. I attempted to put vehicle in park and the shifter moved up but the car stayed in drive. Big orange d. I was able to turn off while the gear shifter was in the park position but the transmission was still in drive. I googled it and found out shifter bearing failed but I was able to manually shift the transmission into park. This was a recall fix but it failed again.

Today started the vehicle, moved shifter from park to drive no movement. Read there was a recall in 2019, unknown if this vehicle was repaired in the recall or was not part of the recall.
I would like to report that the shifter link cable has disconnected from the transmission due to the rubber garment rotting out, so the vehicle loses all power to drive all our power to go into gear, which could cause an accident.
Hello my car has so many safety and risks the engine electric and transmission very dangerous please help.
I am the second owner to own this car had it for 4 months only 27,000 miles I called my dealer to see about the gear shifting cable recall that happened but they said it was fixed in 2019, my car was driving fine now it is no longer shifting out of park I think the recall was not done correctly.
My 2016 Dodge Dart had the shift cable bushing replaced under recall v34 (NHTSA 19v-293) in December 2024. This week (July 2025), the opposite end of the same shift cable assembly failed, leaving the vehicle stuck in reverse, unable to start or shift. I was stranded with my three children and had to manually override the transmission to transport the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the failure was not the recalled bushing, but instead the other end of the same shift cable system, and refused to cover the repair under the recall. This is a clear safety-related issue involving the same defective shift cable design — one that causes loss of control over transmission gear selection, puts drivers at risk of rollaway, and disables vehicle starting. Dodge/fca refused to cover the repair, claiming the recall only included one specific bushing, but this is a systemic failure of the same critical control system and should be addressed under an expanded or amended recall. This issue is the exact same symptoms of the original reason for the first recall.
I am unable to remove my key after it is in park. I have the unplug my negative terminal to get the key to come out.

Today, 7-12-25, I tried to place my 2016 Dodge Dart in park. The car would not go into park, and I could not get the key out after trying to turn it off. The shifter would not go into drive, and was stuck in reverse. I had the car repaired for a recall on the shifter cable bushing at my local Dodge dealer a few years back, and now it's doing the same thing it was prior to the recall. Car is now stuck in a parking lot.

We been having issues with the transmission slipping sometimes and not moving when in drive and sometimes you hear the motor rev up like ur hitting the gas when ur not . I heard there was a recall for a shift cable I think it was . I went to my local dealer and they said it was already replaced and wouldnt replace it again. It was replaced 10 years ago and it needs replaced again. Dont they have to replace it again if its the same problem as before?.
I have not been able to drive since the beginning of the year due to the fact that it will not go into gear. There's problems with the transmission, shifter cable. The recalls on these parts have been replaced and looked at multiple times now at multiple dealerships and there's still an issue.
I purchased a 2013 Dodge Dart aero from best buy auto in NY and only had the car for yr and half. I have waited over a month for asc warranty company to cover it & they refuse to after I bought extended drivetrain warranty. The check engine light came on and was told it was a transmission issue till the Dodge dealership told me that it's not covered saying the part needed is supposedly not a part in transmission but mechanics seam to think it should be ,the part is called a hydro shift actuator ,the car has a dual clutch , I've seen this recalled in cars but cannot seam find if this is a failed recall part and still have not got a clue why a part like this would be almost 6 grand to fix on a car valued at roughly 3 grand ,I still owe 9;on it. Why this part is not covered under warranty?.
The contact owns a 2015 Dart Dart. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle would not properly accelerate and a rattling noise was present coming from under the vehicle. Also, after parking the ignition key could not be immediately removed from the ignition switch do to a faulty shift cable. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failures but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Vehicle VIN [xxx] transmissions shift cable bushing issue. It's broken now. Under a recall. Took vehicle to bob moore Dodge in okc 09/07/2024. They acknowledge the VIN is under recall. The part is broken today. But the part is not available. Per bob moore Dodge the part is not available in okc, or anywhere in the us and may never be available. The y suggested I try going to another Dodge dealer in town - 20 miles away, david stanley Dodge, but even then, they admit david stanley Dodge does not have the part. And they admit the vehicle may not be safe to drive. Mopar site [xxx] clearly shows the parts are available. So I think there is an issue here. Bob moore Dodge in okc just does not want to mess with fixing this issue? or is the mopar site wrong? so it's a Dodge vehicle. Broken down now. Transmission shift cable no longer attached to the transmission. Recall on this exact issue. I'm told it's not going to be fixed today, tomorrow and perhaps never. Bob moore Dodge in okc contact is aarron -844-710-0566. 7420 NW expy in okc. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The transmission bushing broke and the transmission was disabled. The steering wheel was locked and the key was unable to be removed. The safety of the driver and passenger were at harm on the highway when steering was disabled and the transmission could not be moved after stopping. The problem was produced and was forced to be repaired by a shop for the safety of the driver at expense of the driver. The vehicle was then brought to a Dodge dealership in margate florida, where the recall was closed, the issue was not fixed. The vehicle broke down immediately following this closure of the recall. The vehicle was inspected and claimed to be repaired by a Dodge dealership. This is not true. No warning lamps indicated this issue happening once of the two times it broke down.
The vehicle had a recall for the shift bushing cable for the cable disconnect and getting stuck in gear and that’s what happened my car went in on June 21’2022 to have this recall repaired they finally repaired it a year later it failed we were able to put it back on then it now has failed again on August 20 2024 and I am concerned they said I have to pay them now to fix it so I never had an issue before they supposedly fixed it now I have the actual issue and they are refusing to fix it.
After purchasing the car used, the car got stuck in reverse and would not start or shift into/out of gear or park. The dealership determined that it was "shifter cable bushing broken out of cable eyelet" which we saw was on a recall list for these vehicles. Upon further investigation, we discovered that the recall work had been done while with a previous owner. However it appears that even the recall work has failed. The necessary part to fix the issue is on back order and more than one shop has confirmed that they are unable to get the part to make the repair. I spoke with a representative from Chrysler and they said that since the VIN doesn't pull up a recall, they won't help us with this issue. The car, which was purchased 6 days prior to the incident, now sits at the dealership and if it ever gets fixed will cost over $700 for repairs. Since it seems to be a failure of recall work, I'm hoping an investigation can be opened and that we and other owners could get some help with this.
The car keeps stalling and several scans, thousands into repairs to include the dealership itself. I’m convinced that it’s one of the recalls power train and engine keeps randomly stalling. This is a huge safety concern that will result in an accident. It happens after start up, at stop lights and signs and randomly throughout driving. I don’t feel safe and I’m taking it back to the dealership to do the job right .

The car has a mind of its own but now it's a constant problem. I will be trying to go and it's like it shift to nuetural and I loose all powers so I keep pushing gas tell it does something. So I don't cause a accident. When this happens the middle screen where shows speed and stuff like reboots . It will also sometimes say gear not availiable. There is no warning lights on. I try not to drive unless I have to because it dangerous if the. Car does not give trouble backing our of my house it will do fine. And if it has trouble backing out of driveway it won't stop loosing power any time I have to stop or slow down. I did have 1 recall done last year when I left dealer ship it worked fine for like 7 days and back to doing the same thing. The vechicle is availiable for inspection I'm going to take it back to Dodge because it's going to kill me and others.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with shifter cable failure. The dealer informed the contact that the repair would be out-of-pocket to replace the shifter cable. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that it seemed as if the vehicle had not been repaired by the dealer. Driving down the highway, I pushed on the gas pedal and my engine began to rev. I looked at the dashboard, and the dashboard showed I was in park. I looked down at my shifter, and the shifter was positioned in drive but the light on the column was showing I was in park. I was able to get pulled over and stopped. I moved the shifter into park and back into drive. Transmission remainder in park. I turned the car off and repeated the steps. The transmission remained in park. After the 4th attempt, I left the car off for more than a minute. The transmission finally shifted into drive. Less than an hour later, I was turning through a busy intersection, and the engine began to rev again. This time, the transmission did not show it was I park and the gear shifter was in the drive position. Due to not having enough moment to continue further, I wound up stopping in front of a car that was attempting to make a right hand turn onto the highway. This time, after putting the car in park and moving the shifter back into drive, the car engaged and I was able to move out of the way of the car that was trying to turn onto the highway. My safety was put at risk as momentum was the only thing that got me through the remaining part of the busy intersection. Going down the road or making a turn in a busy intersection and potentially being stuck in the middle of either is asking for a wreck to happen. At this point, I had only had the car for a week in which I bought it from the dealership and it still had under 100,000 miles. There were no warning messages/lights and no other indication of something was wrong. Both incidents occurred on March 8, 2024 between 3 and 4pm eastern time. The dealership stated the vehicle had been inspected prior to purchase and after stopping by the Dodge dealership (owned by same person, different dealership), the service department stated spark plugs had been replaced as well as a cv valve back on 2/24.
The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she smelled a gasoline odor in the interior of the vehicle, after which all the lights on the instrument panel began to flicker. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway to shut off the vehicle, after which the vehicle failed to restart. All warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the alternator and the ignition switch. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, who then diagnosed a failure with the transmission control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v542000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 180,000.
While driving on the interstate, the vehicle shifted itself into neutral and would not shift back into drive. At highway speeds, I had to put the hazards on and coast to an exit safely.
My car kept dying on me randomly flashing a light on my dash of a lightning bolt in between two curved lines. I researched it and it was saying that my throttle positioner was going out.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle in the driveway, the gear shifter was shifted into park(p), but the vehicle failed to respond and started reversing. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact shifted into drive(d); however, the vehicle failed to respond and made an abnormal grinding sound. The contact then shifted into park(p); however, the vehicle started reversing. The contact stated that the parking brake was engaged, and the vehicle responded as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was driving and my car shifted to neutral by itself. I was crossing a 2 lane highway when it happened but thankfully I was able to shift back to drive. I was also using cruise control and I tapped my brakes which would usually cancel cruise control, but my car sped up instead of slowing down. My dealership said my car doesn't qualify for the recall even though it is exactly what is happening to my car. I have 2 young children and this is our only transportation. I need this car to be safe for us though. The dealership said they couldn't look at it for over a week.
I purchased a 2014 Dodge Dart from this business on 08/10/2019. I drove the vehicle for only 1. 5 years and then garaged it to give to my daughter later. I put only 20,000 miles on the vehicle. There were several issues during the short time that I had the vehicle. The tire pressure warning went on, and the clutch would stick to the floor. I had the pressure warning 'fixed' at Chrysler world only to have the same malfunction within a week. The clutch issue was due to a recall that I didn't qualify for as I did not purchase the vehicle new from the original dealership. I gave the vehicle to my daughter on 12/18/2023 and the clutch and transmission went out causing her to stop in the middle of the highway. I paid $105 to have the vehicle towed to my local Dodge dealership. The local dealership informed me that the clutch and transmission would need to be replaced for the amount of about $6100. Along with some other recall work on the computer and cat converter which would be free to me. I then emailed and called Chrysler world on 01/02/2024 to see if they would assist with the repair as I felt that this particular vehicle was totally flawed. The salesman advised he would call back on 01/03/24. That would work as I advised my local dealer that I would let them know within a day if they should continue and perform the maintenance. I did not hear from Chrysler world so I did ok the work which is underway. I did receive a call from Chrysler world on 01/08/24. Long after I would have had to let the local dealership know about continuing with the repairs. Chrysler world indicated that they could not help in any way as it had been too long since the purchase.
