I was driving in stop and go rush hour traffic on the freeway. My clutch seemed soft when I downshifted as traffic was slowing from 65 mph. The next time I shifted the clutch went to the floor and the transmission was disengaged. I couldn't shift. I was able to coast to the shoulder and wait for a tow.

On 4 separate occasions, the automatic transmission has disengaged accompanied by check engine light and warnings on instrument panel (service transmission, blind spot indicator disabled, and automatic high beams off). On all occasions, the car was undrivable (as if in neutral) until the engine was turned off and restarted. At that point, the shift points were completely off and vehicle would often nearly stall out. On 2 occasions, the car would not start after multiple attempts, but would inexplicably start later and drive acceptably for a short period of time. Dealer has performed flash updates and examined all connections. Other reports on Dodge Dart forum explain multiple similar issues and various unsuccessful dealer attempts to identify and fix the problem.
There has been a recall on my vehicle for about 2 years. I have been contacting the dealer (and manufacturerer) since I was notified and they still "don't have the part" and I continue to be on the "call list". In fact I broke down (due to the transmission faliure) in another state, paid for a rental the entire week it took to replace the transmission (before the recall) and get home to work. I ended up laying out over $800 for the rental while they repaired their error. The transmission failed and kept revving up the engine and the clutch did not engage or it slipped. Racing the engine and not propelling the car when the gas was stepped on. The manufacturer refused to acknowledge the recall and pay for the rental. Anyway I am driving an unsafe vehicle for over a year and a half getting no repair from local companies (the company called for another local dealer to have the part and never found one).
I went and attempted to start the car. Car would not start. It was like the clutch would not engage. Released the clutch and re-engaged, and it started. During shifts, it didnt want to go into 3 or 6th gears. It was like the clutch is not engaging once again. Took the car back to where I purchased it, performance Dodge, and they told me that Chrysler knows of the issue but Chrysler star will not fix it. I asked how can they know that the clutch has issues, but they are not going to fix it. The employee informed me that they all are like this. Chrysler knows of the clutch issues due to all the complaints, but they still risk the lives of the individuals who purchased the vehicle by not replacing the clutch. I have also had issues with my windows not rolling up or down and the radio keeps resetting itself. They do updates, but it does not fix the radio issue. The last time I took it for the update, the update wouldnt even load to fix the issue. How can a company know of issues but refuse to fix them?.
After several hours of staying parked with transmission in gear (1st), vehicle would not disengage gearbox on startup. Clutch lost all pressure and the vehicle required excessive use of force to dislodge gear shifter. Vehicle was started (clutch disengaged and in neutral) and vehicle began to drive forward. Clutch/transmission remained in contact with engine causing the vehicle to continue moving forward even while in neutral. Transmission/clutch wouldn't reengage without excessive force.
