1 Sway Bar problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

While driving my car stalls out, I keep having problems with ball joints, my sway bar or chain has busted, seat belt for driver will not retract, rust and erosion has been so bad that I actually had to replace the whole front bumper assembly, and I have no heat.

2 Sway Bar problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

I bought my Durango in March of 2011 from a dealership with no warranty. I have had so many problems with this truck since then it has been a money pit. My main concern was how bad the suspension is on this truck, around August I was driving and the passenger side tie rod completly broke, thankfully I wasn't going fast so I had control over the vehicle. So when I fixed the tie rod I did both because I didn't wan't the same thing happening again so while getting the tie rod fixed the lower passenger ball joint falls off so I wound up doing a pair of those also, so when I get the grease fittings greased, the mechanic tells me I need sway bar links really bad so I do those also. So all these problems, and I have to pay a monthly note for this piece of crap and the dealer is not willing to do anything to help me. Now it's January 2012 and I go for a oil change and mechanic tells me my ball joints and tie rods are shot. I ask him how can that be they been replaced less than 6 months ago, he said my shocks are terrible. This has been beyond frustrating and I have children that ride in this truck. I was reading and I saw all the complaints about the ball joint problem in this truck, I can not afford to fix the same problem again.

3 Sway Bar problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 09/02/2006

99 Dodge Durango was running good. Started hearing a knocking noise when going over bumps. Found mounting to rear sway bar on driver side separated from bar. Defective part available if needed.

4 Sway Bar problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 12/01/2004

I have a 1999 Dodge Durango trouble with ball joints. Do you plan to include it in the recall. All of the ball joint experienced movement and the sway bar bushing(s) were making noises.

5 Sway Bar problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/14/2004

This represents the 5th time my 2004 Dodge Durango has gone back to martin Dodge for the same problem. The vehicle makes a popping noise in the rear as it goes down the road. The rear is also loose over normal roadway conditions. On the first repair, the dealership replaced rear shocks, sway bar, & tightened the rear. On the second attempt, they replaced a stripped bolt in the rear. On the third attempt, they replaced the bolt's housing & the bolt again. On the fourth attempt, they tightened & lubed the entire rear. The service manager's remarks on the latest invoice is that he is going to talk to Chrysler corporation about this continued problem. The service manager relayed to my wife that it sounds like metal to metal is being rubbed together somewhere in the rear. He also expressed that this was a problem on previous Durango models, & that Chrysler fixed same by inserting plastic spacers of some kind. The service manager & my wife test drove the Durango after today's fourth repair attempt. The popping & sway was as great as it ever was. I will be represented by david j. Gorberg, esq. With regard to a NJ lemon law claim. To date, I have not been contacted by NHTSA regarding my 4 previous complaints.

6 Sway Bar problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/08/2004

Today represents the fourth time that my new Durango goes back to my dealership for the same problem. The vehicle has a distinct "popping" noise from the rear when driving. There's also excessive bounce in the rear suspension. It is my opinion that this excessive bounce should become a full recall, as it is unsafe. On the first repair attempt, martin Dodge changed the rear shocks, sway bar, & "tightened" the rear. On the second attempt, they replaced a stripped bolt in the rear. On the third attempt, they replaced the housing that held this bolt in place. Immediately after leaving the dealership after the third repair attempt, my wife & I continued to experience the same exact problems. It is for these reasons that the vehicle will go back to martin Dodge for a fourth repair attempt. I will also contact a lemon law attorney today to seek remedy.

7 Sway Bar problem of the 2004 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 06/13/2004

My 2004 Dodge Durango went back to martin Dodge for excessive bounce in the rear end along with a continued popping noise during said bounce. Martin Dodge advised me that the "bell crank bushing" was stripped & was replaced. The vehicle was in their shop for 3 days initially, & 4 days the second time. I was advised that new shocks & sway bar were ordered to be installed. As per the invoice of June 11, 2004, same was not completed. The part is listed at $81. 55. The labor is listed at $13. 00. $13. 00 labor for a vehicle in the shop 4 days?????? I first drove the vehicle today, June 13, 2004. The exact same problem is occurring. The vehicle will be back at the dealership tomorrow morning. The bounce is simply not safe. The popping noise is annoying. However, I don't know what is causing same. Also, there was no explanation why there would be a stripped bolt on a new vehicle. What caused this "bell crank bushing" to become stripped?.

8 Sway Bar problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/01/2003

There was a loud squeaking noise in the front end of the vehicle while in motion. Upon inspection of vehicle by the dealership, they noticed that the sway bar bushings collapsed.
