When you let off the gas to slow down the engine cut off and lost power steering. It has happened 10 times in 2 years, but the last time it happened I was about to turn right; I hit a sign and scratched the whole right side of the truck. Dodge claimed we can't fix it because we don't know what is causing it.

I have an 05 Dodge 1500 with the 5. 7 hemi. It has always idled low but dealer says otherwise. It starts out as a engine sputter then it dies leaving no power steering or brakes. The last time this happened I was in rush hour traffic with both lanes turning left. Very dangerous to drive. I don't feel safe with my children and wife driving this vehicle. I took it to the dealer and paid 300 for a sensor. Drove fine for a day then started doing the same thing. This has happened many times. Found many other people with same problem.
The engine bloc developed a crack.

Build up of sludge in the engine and burn-out of rod bearings with regular maintenance. We followed the maintenance. Schedule set fort in owners manual and have
verifiable proof of completed maintenance. However, system is full of sludge causing the bearings to burn out.

Consumer stated that it has been 7months she receive the recall notice in 01-Jun-02. Dealer is aware of the proiblem. Ts.

Oil changes were done every 3000-5000 miles. The third and fourth piston rods were worn down and then broke. ******dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****7757169.
Consumer was traveling 70mph on highway and without prior warning vehicle stopped. Consumer heard a noise, and vehicle just went out. Vehicle had to be towed.
Vehicle pulled from side to side. While pulling to one side, when applying brakes, vehicle pulled to other side. Contacted dealer, and dealer did not know what caused it. Heads have cracked twice and dealer will not acknowledge problem.
Oil breather cap is located in front of engine fan, forcing oil fumes into vehicle. Vehicle was sent to dealer shop on three occasions, and problem still reoccurring. Provide any further information.

Excessive loss of engine coolant; one quart is lost every 700 miles. Vehicle has been to three dealers, but problem still occurs.
Reporting frozen plugs are leaking due to rust. Dealer / manufacturer were not contacted at this time.

Consumer has had to replace transmission 4 times and motor once since purchase because piston had hole in it. Dealer cannot say why.
Crankshaft, traded for another truck.
Initial transmission problem started @ 38000 just out of warranty. Dealer said they couldn't help. I never thought of contacting manufacturer. Trans. Diagnosis complete at 72500 mis, dealer say rebuild, r+r at 89300mis. Brake mastercylinder lid was leaking causing insufficiet fluid level lead to pad and shoe failure. Transmission failure led to lifter failure in the engine. Trans would long shift putiing strain on engine causing a higher rev. Ultimately weakening 2 lifters. I am now hearing a noise and feeling jolts on the steering wheel turning left . Problem is unknown at this time.
Truck vibrates between 30-67 mph. Dealer has changed the torque converter, drivershaft, replaced ring and pinion, yoke, bearings and seals. Truck has burned 1/2 qt of oil per 1000 miles since new.
While driving vehicle completely stopped without warning, none of gauges went out. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was sludge that build up. 10 months later, campshaft went out.
Cylinder head cracked resulting in failure.
Gaskets from oil filter clogged carburetor, causing throttle to stick which caused vehicle to accelerate . Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
Consumer states while driving at highway speed the engine will shut down causing lost of power steering. Please provide any additional information. Ph.
