The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included and repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags). The contact stated that the air bag warning light remained illuminated. In addition, the vehicle was leaking oil from the oil pan. The contact took the dealer who replaced the second air bag. The failure recurred. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag switch failed and needed to be replaced; however, the dealer did not diagnose the vehicle for the leaking oil. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

Purchased the truck new in 2005. Wife was driving to store when engine shut off. She turn around and drove 1. 5 mile back to house and parked truck. Truck had plenty oil, but was leaking oil from passenger side valve cover had a small hole. Pulled covers, both heads and found head cast had broke off on passenger side. This caused hole in valve cover. Bottom of both head casting had damage to valve seal which should be pressed into place. Three of the seal pop out about 1/4 inch. And one of the seal on driver side head casting cracked cylinder head. This should not happen. I never seen this type of damage to headers. I think the casting if flawed. Before taking the valve covers of, I thought if I get another valve cover might be ok. So I searched for a valve cover. I called two Dodge dealer part department. Withnell Dodge in salem and mark thomas motors in albany oregon. Both dealer parts department told me they had over 60 back orders for this valve cover. That's over 120 back order for valve covers. I suspect other truck owners thought all they needed was to replace the valve cover and that should fix their problem. I also suspect the flaw in the header cast is the problem and is causing a chain reaction to occur when parts of the casting break off, hit the valve cover, which can cause the truck to overheat, and result in damage to cylinder head, rings, and header, all because the head casting was molded with an inherited flaw. Nothing make sense as to why truck had problem with header, except bad cast for header. I hope your organization can do something about this matter. I put less than 15,000 miles per year on this truck, and I should be enjoying this truck for trouble free. With Dodge history of failure to notify vehicle owner about inherited problems with past, I do not expect Dodge to take responsibility for what I have experienced.

I had decided to change my oil myself for the truck's second oil change because I wanted to use ams oil. I bought the filter from a local parts store because ams did not offer one. I began to drain the oil and then removed the old filter. After it drained for 20 minutes I installed the new filter and oiled the new o-ring and installed it on the factory cap and torqued it to 20 foot pounds. I poured the 6 quarts of new oil in the engine, warmed it up and shut it down. I then checked the filter for leaks and checked my oil level. Everybody should be able to change their own oil right? well I guess that's not true with this truck according to the dealer service center. It was about 3000 miles later when I was at work and noticed a puddle of oil under the truck. I looked underneath and the bottom of the transmission and other parts were coated with oil. I checked the level and nothing registered on the dip stick so I had my new truck towed to the dealer. They told me that I didn't use oem parts and I'm not qualified to chage my own oil and that is why oil was gushing all over the top of my engine! notice that driving a vehicle with an engine coated with oil is a huge safety issue. The dealer charged me for a new oil change, wiped the oil off where they could and refused to have the engine steam cleaned. They sent me on the street with oil on my engine! I tried to have it cleaned but could not find anybody that could do it that day. I had to drive it the next day and it didnt catch fire so I let it go. I am now at 23,578 miles (incident happened at 16,893) and I'm starting to notice it leaking a little bit again. This is a serious safety issue! I've seen many complaints about this and somebody could get killed! now I'm going to go complain about all the transmission problems my 2015 Chrysler 200 is having. Don't buy an fca product! you will be sorry!.

This vehicle has leaked oil around the oil filter since the 1st oil change. The company has never owned up to being a problem however I've had a oiled filled driveway ever since then. There are numerous complaints online from people with the same problem. How can ram get away with not doing anything to fix the issue. I live 1 1/2 hours from the dealer and I'm afraid its going to vibrate off on my way there to get it fixed. I doubt they would fix the motor if it locked up on my way there.
Multiple problems since day 1. Unresolved vibration issues-related to tires and driveline and alignment. Outer tierod failure. Frt right brake assy failure - near accident , vehicle veered uncontrollably off road at 40mph-towed to dealer. Intermittent stalling and hesitating and low oil pressure during operation- truck stalled several occasions while driving - unresolved at this time. Multiple fluid leaks
from failed vehicle seals and gasket-issue resolved. Vehicle has been to authorized Dodge dealers for 9 visits for a total of 45 days down time. In my opinion, this is an unsafe and unreliable vehicle. Not eligible for massachusettes strict lemon laws due to being a multitude of different problems.

Second complaint, truck still in the shop, I have been waiting 16 days for parts, dealer is unable to get all the new replacement parts to fix my oil leak. This oil leak is because the dealer that replaced my engine didn't install it correctly. They put one of the suspected bad parts back in with two new seals around it, I don't think that is right. I bought a new truck, I should get new replacement parts when it breaks down. Dealers name is larry miller Dodge 623-815-2250. My truck only has 2400 miles on it. I have only owned it for two and a half months, no one will return my calls for replacement of the truck. It has been in the shop for over 30 days.

Engine has always pinged on regular gas - 5+ trips to Dodge for service and they never fixed the problem. At one point, they poured fuel injector cleaner in the engine which is something they tell you not to do when you purchase the vehicle. Air conditioning system completely shot at 50,000 miles in October, 2001. A month later, my rear-end went up at a cost of $1345. Two weeks later, my transmission went up at a cost of $1700. In June of 2001, my fuel pump went up at a cost of $216. I did not have any of these repairs done at Dodge although I purchased Dodge parts because they have never fixed anything without either screwing up something else or just not properly repairing the problems. I called their service department for repair prices and they were much higher than independent service shops. I wrote them for assistance with these repair costs but they would not assist me because repairs were not done at Dodge. They said I should have asked them for help first but I could not wait for a response from them because I needed my vehicle right away. I also did not trust them to properly repair my vehicle. Of course, my truck was out of warranty for all of the problems. I even took them to small claims court for the engine ping they could not correct and they brought in 4 high dollar lawyers, so, of course, iost the case. I have not yet had my air conditioner repaired. I am going to contact them to see if they will repair it with some financial assistance although I am not sure if I should trust them at this point. I have spent a total of $3,331 in repairs over the past 3 months and am not finished yet. What a lemon! they also could not perform a simple oil change properly-they did not replace the oil plug and the oil was leaking.
