Tl- the contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled without warning, however, the "check engine light had illuminated after the failure occurred. The contact then coasted over to an emergency lane and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle had also over heated multiple times. The the dashboard had also began to crack and later collapsed. The contact noticed that the crack is near the air bag, which was inside the dash and could potentially inadvertently deploy the air bag. The failure caused the entire instrument panel to malfunction. The contact stated that the pieces from the dash board had fell into the air vents, which caused the a/c unit to malfunction. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for a diagnosis and the mechanic stated that the engine and dashboard needed to be replaced because the dash was completely gone. The mechanic also stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive, due to the dashboard failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and approximate failure mileage was 54,000. Gb.

I have owned two 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickups. One had a 5. 9l and one had a 5. 2l. Both vehicles experienced a failure of the ventilation servo (switches cold-warm-hot air mix) and both experience cracked heads. All occurrences happened between 90,000 miles and 100,000 miles. As for the cracked heads neither vehicle had ever overheated, and had always actually run fairly cool.
