Dodge Ram 1500 owners have reported 1 problem related to wrecker and wheel lift devices (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Owner joe boehms was traveling up a long hill on dirt road when about half way up hill vehicle suddenly quit running (no warning) and "check gage light" (cgl) came on. Truck restarted, but would not pull hill. I slowly backed truck down hill without engine -- and started truck on level ground and turned around. Truck ran fine the about two miles home , but "check gage light" remained on. (all gages and liquid levels checked normal) the gas gage showed just below half full. After arriving home, I added a gallon of gasoline, but cgl remained on. I called service manager at sloan Ford in columbia , TN. Who suggested having truck towed to sloan Ford to be checked (about 20 miles). When wrecker arrived at my home for truck, the truck started and cgl was off. Sloan technicians kept the truck for a week, and the problem never occurred again and has not since. This is very dangerous because of the possibility of the truck stalling suddenly again in fast moving traffic, etc. . I would like to hear of any similar cases , and the possible cause. I consider this unknown mystery potentially very dangerous causing me to be reluctant to drive truck in heavy traffic or long distances.
