Uncontrollable steering or front end wobbling. Aka death wobble, according to my vehicle history there are recalls that are for steering and the description of all those recalls say what could happen which is a loss of steering control resulting in a crash. All the recalls that I know of have been replaced. But I still have incidents where I lose control of steering and in order for it to stop, I have to stop the vehicle. I have had many many close calls, and hoping that this doesn't result in a loss of a vehicle or even death. It's a very big concern to me considering there has been recalls for the steering and front end. It will occur as soon as I hit a bump just right not even at high speed it happens at 35-70 mph no matter if it's flat ground or not. The entire truck shakes and feels like the wheels are bouncing off the ground. At that point being on the freeway having no control of my steering the only option I have it to slam on my breaks, it's a matter of time before something really bad happens.

Vehicle just came off the expressway passenger side front steering ball joint broke as vehicle was being parked, the drivers side was replaced by Dodge under recall. They did not want to except liability for the passenger side. It has been a little over a year and the drivers side they replaced under recall is showing a lot of play and needs to be replaced again.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Dodge pickup 2500. The contact was driving at about 10 mph and the power steering gear box side bolt sheared in half. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the vehicle was repaired. The contact was given a reference number for a possible recall by the mechanic . The contact spoke to the dealer lithia Dodge grants pass oregon 1421 ne 6th st, grants pass, or 97526 who confirmed the vehicle was not on recall and was not covered. The manufacturer has not been contacted. The failure mileage was 152,073. Tf.
Vehicle cuts often without any indication that anything is wrong. It does it any speed and there is no power steering, no brakes. This happened the first time at freeway speed and nearly caused a rear end collision because of the sudden and nearly uncontrollable stop.
My vehicle was in motion driving on a highway at the rate of 45mph-50mph my husband was driving, I was passenger, and my 2 year old son was in his car seat in the back. All the sudden we hit a small bump in the road, no bigger than your average pot holes and the entire truck broke out into an abrupt shake! it was throwing my husbands and my body around the shake was so intense the steering was controllable but extremely hard. It felt as though our tires were flying right off the vehicle. My husband braked and the violent shake seized and we immediately pulled over and parked the truck. We check and shook all tires they were secure. We looked under the truck everything seemed in place and secure. Once we got home I researched the issue and learned of the "death wobble" most Dodge trucks have because of the "y" steering bar which most years have a recall to fix the issue however when I called my local Dodge they informed me my year of truck doesn't have the recall. This "death wobble" has been known to cause rollovers and accidents. I reached out to chrystler to see if they would fix it and they informed me because there is no recall they wouldn't. We are talking peoples, and others on the road safety! I don't see why they wouldn't want to pay to fix a steering bar which is what maybe $1000 but have the possibility for lives to be lost?.

Death wobble on highway after hitting a bump in the road. The truck starts shaking and unable to control the vehicle while this is going on. Seatbelts will not release once this happens, even when seat belt is retracted all the way.
Front drivers side frame is cracked all the way through the frame beginning at the trac bar bracket. This makes steering extremely dangerous because the steering hardware binds. There was a recall (rcrit-15v541-5721) for trac bar bracket weld failures for vehicles from 2012 through 2014. I believe this is a related issue that seriously affects safety. I've attached five pictures.
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 power wagon with only 131k miles . As I was driving on the highway home from work at around 60 mph my whole front end started to shake like crazy and I almost lost control of the truck . I had to stop and pull off the road . Looking under the truck I do not see anything that looks broken or damaged. So I went online and alot of people online had the same issue as I did . I was told they are open recalls for front end parts going bad on my truck year model . I called my local dealer the service tech was happy to help until I said recall issues on the front end on the truck then all of a sudden his data base system went down so he will have to call me back . All I need is just a answer on if there is a open recalll so that I can have it repaired . Right now I am scared to move my truck .
Death wobble 11/28/17 you already know what the death wobble is. Uncontrollable shaking of the front end making it difficult to stop and steer truck.
Steering box has excessive play in steering wheel while driving straight down road. . . Getting worse & worse by day.
Vehicle intermittently and randomly shuts off at speed or stationary. Has happened numerous times at busy intersections and on highway. Power steering and braking power is lost.
Dodge. Consumer writes in regards to problems with the airbag clockspring. The consumer stated the clockspring was replaced on three seperate occasions, but there is still a recurring problem with the vehicle.
Driving on busy pave road crossing bridge my right tire rod dislocated almost causing a bad accident.
I am hearing a popping sound when turning the steering wheel, play in steering, truck is wobbling all over the place when driving on uneven roads, hissing sound coming from front end when accelerating. Play in steering gear box. The clicking popping sound I hear when turning steering wheel is when driving or not moving. I have had this truck pull far right on the road when going on uneven roads.

Violent front wheel side to side shaking when hitting a small bump on the freeway, going strait. Braking hard to a slower speed, below 50 mph stops the shake. Ram dealer installed a steering arm factory update. This did not cure the problem. The dealer could not tell me how they could fix the problem. This problem is known as the death wobble.

Death wobble truck will start shaking violently and uncontrollably when you hit a small bump in the road.
I have a 98 Ram 2500 v10 if I go about 65 mph there is a massive wobble in the steering wheel but if I speed up to 70 it stops or if I slow down to 60 it stops. There should be a recall on this because all of the ram trucks that I have had do this exact same thing.

I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway when my truck violently shake back and forth so hard I had to come to a complete stop to get it to stop. I've had the front suspension replaced 3 times in the past year and still have what they call a death wobble. I have spent so much money on rentals and on shop repairs trying to repair this problem and still cannot go over 40 miles an hour without it violently shaking. This is dangerous to my family it could kill somebody and I think Dodge should be responsible for taking action on repairing this or figure out the problem . I have called Dodge and they have told me it is not a recall so they cannot help me out. I had bought brand new tires a brand new drive line along with replacing the front suspension 3 times now and I still cannot drive my truck without it causing violent shaking. It has 87,000 miles on it has never been in an accident so I cannot figure out why this started happening but I think that it should not be okay to have this truck on the road it's going to hurt somebody. I have only driven a couple of times and spent alot on rentals . I will never in my life buy another Dodge due to lack of concern for my family's saftey. I own this vehicle outright and wish I would have never bought it. Thats how scary it is to drive.
While driving at highway speed terrible front end wobble, very scary. Has happened on multiple occasions. Husband normally drives truck this is first time this has happened to me while driving on the interstate.
Track bar mount came off of the frame of the truck . . . . . . Pulling onto road from drivewag.
When I hit a bump pot hole or rough spot in the road my vehicle get s the dreaded death wobble and I have to immediately reduce my speed to around 30 miles per hour and I'm afrai its going to break something in my steering and cause a crash or I'm going to get rear ended which has almost happened several time because of other drivers following to close.
2009 Dodge Ram 2500 has what is described by many as "death wobble". At freeway speeds (70mph here in mi) if some even minor bumps, pot holes are run over the front end of the truck starts to shake uncontrollably. To get control of the vehicle again you must slow to below 55mph. Many times just the drivers side front tire as bouncing or wobbling, recently the entire front end. Vehicle has had both prior recalls for tie-rod ends completed. Had front shocks changed in case they were the issue no change, had tires changed in case there was an issue with any of the tires, no change. Had belle tire techs look for issue with bouncing/wobbling tires they said everything was tight and in working order. Also has another garage look at it for the same issue they did not find any issues. This problem that looks to be pretty widespread with owners of 2009 Ram 2500s makes this vehicle unsafe at highway speeds until a fix is found. I will ask dealer about bouncing/wobbling front end again but if this is on many of these trucks the problem will end up resulting in accidents should a driver not be able to slow down quickly to regain control of the steering. This problem has been happening for over a year on and off, I had avoided driving on the freeway until the last repairs where the tires were changed and the techs said everything was good with the front end. First time on the freeway at 70mph it happened again when a few small bumps were run over, the entire cab of the truck was shaking, other drivers behind and around me slowed as I am guessing they thought I was going to loose control and crash. I had to slow below 50mph before the shaking was under control and because the other drivers slowed it allowed me to get to the right and avoid an accident. So I will no longer use the truck at anything over 45mph and only use sparingly until the issue is identified and repaired.
My 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 started hopping after I hit a slight bump in the road. I was going about 50mph when thus happened. I could do nothing but take my foot off the gas to slow the truck down. It literally hopped down the road , it felt like we were in a paint mixer bouncing down the road. This has happened several times before but was never as bad as this time. My wife was with me this time and could not believe what it was doing. She told me if she had been driving she would have panicked and most likely wrecked the truck. Everything in the truck was being tossed around. This issue must be corrected before someone gets hurt or worse.
Experiencing what people call death wobble. 18 months ago hit a bump on the highway and front end shook very hard, I thought I had a flat tire. Nothing found and didn't do it for about a year. This summer it started doing it and became a regular occurrence. Starts when hitting a bump above 60 mph. Only way to stop it is to slow down to below 30 mph. . . Very scary in highway traffic. Once had a tractor trailer veer off the road behind me. Had 2 shops look at it and can't find anything obvious. Replaced track bar, wheel bearing, stabilizer shock, regular shocks, steering gear and had front end realigned. Nothing is fixing it. Vehicle is stock height. . . No modifications.
Death wobble / as I was coming down on ramp to I-205 after leaving hannah Dodge as speed reached 55 I hit a small bump in pave and truck shook so violently I had to hit brakes as vehicle pulled left then right to shoulder where I came to a stop. This first happened as I reached 164th and hwy. 14 at 64 mph and hit asphalt patch on overpass and was steering to the left lane when truck started shuddering violently and pulling to right as I hit brakes. Luckily on both occasions no traffic was to my right or behind me or I'm sure an accident could have occurred.
The passenger track bar mount and shock mount has fractures in the welds to the axle housing. The shock bracket underneath wear the bottom of the passenger shock bolts in is completely broken and the bottom of the shock is just floating with no stability. This is a factory weld and the 2013-2014s have the same issue but are the only ones with an official recall. It's been reported on many previous years and Chrysler/Dodge will not fix it. I am unable to take a picture of the the shock bolt as it is blocked by the track bar mount, but I did get the track bar mount clearly with the major fractures. There are more on the inner side of the passenger axle housing. This creates a major safety issue if it completely fails.
The right (passenger) lower control arm ball joint failed while traveling approximately 30 miles per hour. The failure was a separation of the ball and bolt from the cup that is pressed into the cup. Total control of the truck was lost and a minor accident occurred when the truck ended up on a median with the left (driver's) tire on the median and the other tires on the road. The median is approximately 16 inches above the road bed. The ball joint is part of the steering mechanism. The steering arm ended up pushing the right tire out at 45 degree angle outside or to the right. The left front tire was at a 45 degree angle to the left. The vehicle was on a city street nearing an intersection to a 55 mile an hour highway that the vehicle was about to turn left on. The driver reported a shaking of the steering wheel similar to a flat and began to slow down when control was lost due to the mechanical failure occurred. Had this failure happened at highway speeds, the Dodge ram would have rolled. The miles on the truck were 99,455. A ball joint should not fail with less than 150k miles. The vehicle was repaired on 2 may, 2017 and the left (recalled) ball joint, all steering hardware and the failed ball joint were replaced by a Dodge dealer. The recalled part had not been replaced prior to purchasing the truck in December, 2016. The crash ended up in minimal to no damage to the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed to the Dodge dealer and the tow truck driver had to use plastic sliders to get the truck safely onto the flatbed tilt tow truck.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. While reversing into the driveway, the steering gear box output shaft fractured without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to move. The contact stated that he was an independent mechanic. It was diagnosed that the steering gear box output shaft fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the warranty expired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. The VIN was unavailable.
