36 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

This is the 4th time we have had to go back to dealership and them turn us away by doing a visual inspection stating there was nothing wrong with the truck, however we cannot get an alignment because sway bar, track bar, and tie rods all needed to be repaired. Took truck back again after there was so much pooping noise and vibration from the front end that I could not take it anymore. Outer tie rods were done, and found out the track bar was cracked so a new one replaced the original one yet no record was completed of this with the dealership, only that they tightened the track bar. I am so fed up with the dealerships and Chrysler with all of this nonesense, it is really going to come down to us completely having a bad accident or something to this extent before something is done, and we stop having to pay for all the repairs to a faulty front end. Driving down the rod feeling the vibrations is very scary, and not knowing if the tires are going to come off.

Recall notice n62/NHTSA 13v-528 left tie rod end may break while driving causing lose of steering and may result in accident??wow now you would think Dodge would make this a priority to get fixed?? so I have emailed Dodge several times about getting this fixed always same answer do not have parts, been to local dealer doing the same, got the same answer no parts to fix vehicle??? well lucky it broke on my street turning truck around to back in my driveway, steering linkage pushed into my left tire 6" so side wall belts are now broke but it was also causing my new tires to wear out faster on front of truck even after alignments done, so after a year my truck is still not fixed and is sitting at hall Jeep/ Dodge and no fix for it due to no parts available. So no I am less my truck and need to borrow a vehicle just to got to work, I find this a huge problem not only should I have a rental vehicle that matches my vehicle but want two new front tire now also why cant they get the parts I can order all parts needed right now online or go pickup locally and get my truck repaired but getting my money back for repairs will be a huge issue because after market parts?? really be better parts in my eyes being I would get heavy duty parts for replacement parts so no more front end issue's I am done with Dodge and trying to get a truck fixed that should have been done months ago with no hassle period!! OH and to top it all off the dealer gives me number to Dodge roadside assistance to tow my truck to dealer less than a 1/4 mile form my house they want to charge me $73. 00 for the tow?? um your recall issue and your tow problem I am not paying a dime being you cant get parts to fix my truck and when its now broke and has no steering Dodge want me to pay for a tow bill ya ok good luck on that too. . . Really wish could up load pictures its a site to see linkage stuck in my tire. . . .

While travelling on an interstate highway the vehicle hit a bump and began to shake violently. I slowed the vehicle and the shaking subsided however steering control was minimally maintained. Subsequent bumps or increase in speed resulted in the shaking. The vehicle was stopped and inspected. At that time it was observed the right tie rod end had become completely detached from the steering knuckle. The vehicle was towed to a Dodge dealer. The dealer indicated this vehicle was not part of the recall and replaced the right tie rod assembly at my expense. Further inspection showed the left tie rod end also showed excessive wear and was also subsequently replaced.

46 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

Had been waiting over 6 months for parts from dealership to repair left tie rod recall n49. On 10/01/14, upon leaving a gas station and accelerating to proceed down highway, the left tie rod broke, causing the vehicle's left wheel to lock, resulting in total loss of control and steering ability, and the vehicle crossed over to the right shoulder, landing partially in a ditch and partially remaining on the road. Luckily there was no traffic next to me and no one was injured. The truck had to be towed to the local Dodge dealership, who happened to have the part they were holding for another customer who had not responded to the notice the part was available, and was used on our truck the same day. The disturbing thing is that Chrysler will now not reimburse my towing expense, even though it was totally related to this recall failure. I have been contacting my local dealership routinely for over 6 months to inquire about this part and been told each time that the part is not available and I am 'on the list'. On the date of the incident, I was told by the service personnel that they are allowed on a small number of parts and that they cannot get additional parts until they submit proof of installing the previously sent parts. Yet this dealership had parts that they had been holding for several weeks for a customer who had not responded to the notice their parts were in. Meanwhile, myself and many others are waiting for parts and risking injury each time we have to take these vehicles on the road. I live outside the city limits and must take a highway or interstate to travel anywhere. Luckily my breakdown/accident occurred at a slow speed and not the 60 mph that I would have been going in just a few more minutes. It doesn't appear that Chrysler truly values the safety of their customers.

47 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Recieved the safety recall n62/NHTSA 13v-528 in Dec 2013, did not make it to the dealership until Mar 2014 do to all of the bad winter weather. They said I had the suspect tie rod and would be put on the list for the repairs and was told I was # 70 on the list. I have since called several times and am told each time they dom't have the parts from Chrysler and that Chrysler only sends them a few parts at a time. Looks like I will never get this item repaired?.

49 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/17/2014

Dodge is refusing to cover recall notice n62/NHTSA 13v-528. I presented original receipts and documentation as requested since I already had to pay to repair the "tie rod ball stud". I received a phone call informing me that they would not cover the recall since I had the truck repaired with "after market parts". I do not agree with this. I should be compensated due to the recall. The parts failed and I replaced them last December. I then get notice that the parts were bad. Why would I put the same parts back on if they failed in the first place? I put "better" after market parts on . No where on the recall does it say that I am supposed to have used "mopar" parts. Please look in to this. I feel they are avoiding responsibilty.

50 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 09/16/2014

My left tie rod snapped as I was backing out of my parking spot. There is already a recall on this matter. Writing to you just to get this information out to as many as possible. I went to tri county Chrysler in pottstown, PA to get an inspection to see if I needed the recall work done. I was told that I did not need the recall done, so they entered my VIN in saying they completed the work. So a couple weeks later my tie rod snaps, so much for not needing the recall done. So I get it towed to another dealer and they say yes I need the recall done and do the work. Something needs to be done about this. This is a very serious matter, I could have been seriously injured or could have injured someone else.

55 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2012 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

We received a safety recall notice n49/NHTSA 13v-529 regarding our Dodge 2500. We begin the process to have it repaired in January with our local dealer. In April we finally got in to have it inspected. We do have the faulty left tie rod ball stud that needs replacing. Our local linwood Chrysler dealer tells us, in several attempts to have the work done, that they have only received 2 parts from Chrysler. When we contacted the 2nd dealer they told us a similar situation. We have went from # 7 on the list, to # 31, and now are # 41. When we contacted Chrysler we were told that 5-6 of these repair parts are shipped weekly to each dealership with waiting list. We have found that Chrysler is shipping one part every 21 days to some dealerships, sometimes. They repeat the same "fair distribution" line to us, the customer, and I have no idea what they are telling their dealers. We have not drove this expensive, faulty truck for 8 months because of this safety issue. We are unhappy about the lies of "parts on order".

61 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

I received the following recall notice in January of 2014. "during a prior service appointment, a mopar service parts steering linkage may have been installed on your truck. The drag link inner joint may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could result in a loss of steering control and cause a crash without warning. Also, the steering damper bracket at the tie rod tube may loosen. This could allow the bracket to slide on the tube and may cause increased vehicle turning radius. " after I took my vehicle to a local dealer they informed me the parts were backordered and they added me to their list. They also suggested I call them to check on the part if I did't hear from them. I have received to additional recall notices on this matter since then. I have tried to call the dealer numerous times and can not get through to their service department. So I called chryslers recall phone number and was told they would flag my account and contact the dealer and have them call me which hasn't happened either. I am amazed that Chrysler is being non responsive to a safety mater of this nature and have no other option than to report it to safecar. Gov the Dodge dealer ship I have been dealing with is clear lake Dodge15711 gulf fwy, webster, TX 77598 (281) 481-1000.

62 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/20/2014

The passenger side outer tie rod end fell out of the wheel. Violent shaking occurred but kept it in control and I stopped. Before this happened, in may of this year I stopped in to see if my vehicle had the tie rod that was under recall notice. The technician looked underneath and said "no your vehicle does not have the defective part. " Monday after this incident, I called Chrysler and told them what happened and the representative (beth) since you did not have the malfunctioning (recall) part and because of the mileage on the truck, that there is nothing they can do. But she said to keep your receipts for repair in case there would be a recall notice for that part. I saved the defective part and had it fixed by an independent auto care specialist.

63 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

In July 2014, travelling along a 2 lane highway, we hit a bump in the road and the truck started to violently shake to the point where we had to come to a complete stop on the road. Scared the entire family as we got out to see if we had a tire failure. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Continued on the vacation and had it occur 3-5 more times while in the truck. While on vacation, had the steering damper(stabilizer) and rotated the tires but that did not fix the problem. Upon return home, took it to a non-Chrysler service center as the local Dodge dealer was 3 weeks out on getting the truck in. They replaced both upper and lower tie rods joints, wheel bearings and aligned the vehicle. $2000 approximate cost plus the steering stabilizer and no fix. Took the truck on another extended trip on 4/3 and had it occur again. When I called Chrysler dealer today (4/6), the service advisor was unaware of any problems with this truck and advised me to bring it in which I will do next week. It still has the passenger air bag recall out on it. All previous recalls have been inspected by Chrysler service centers. This is a very dangerous situation and I fear that allowing the truck on the highway dangers not only me and my family but other motorists traveling near us.

64 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

I had taken my truck to get it serviced because the steering felt off and when I would go to stop it sounded like metal shaking. When I got to the dealership they said the left tie rod was cracked and the steering linkage was just hanging there about to fall off. There had been a recall on it before I had purchased the truck so I called Chrysler group and they informed me that it was deemed that the truck didn't have the "specific recalled" part. So I had to pay out of pocket around $3,000 to fix a problem that there was a recall on. The exact same problem listed in the recall, "because the left tie rod ball stud may fracture. " is exactly what happened to mine. I was told by Chrysler group that since my truck had been checked for the specific part by the previous owner and it wasn't part of the recall they wouldn't cover it. They did say to keep all my reciepts in case there is a future recall on that specific part.

66 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

I received a recall notice in the mail this spring regarding a left tie rod replacedment. I notified don davis Dodge in el campo, texas and they stated that they were waiting on parts. I contacted them several times and received the same answer. I called the complaint hotline on 3/10/2014. This week I received another recall notice in the mail for the same thing. I drove to el campo again today, June 1, 2014 and contacted the service department again with don davis Dodge, and now they are saying that they have replaced the tie rod on several vehicles lately and have recently been notified that these replacement parts are not good, and they are still waiting on new parts for this recall. This seems to be the same problem at many Dodge dealers. I can no longer drive this truck due to this defective part. When I turn to the right I feel it popping in the steering wheel and I was told by the service department at don davis that this is the symptom. They said that they replaced the tie rods on 2 vehicles that had just broken. Now, I can not drive this truck until I get this corrected. I use this truck to haul cattle and I need answers and assistance now. Thank you. Jack cornett.

68 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2011 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

I have received two safety recalls for this vehicle recall number n49/NHTSA 13v-529. The recall is to replace the left tie rod ball stud on the steering linkage. I received the first recall notice in January 2014. I immediately went to my Dodge dealer to have the work performed. Dodge stated that they would have to order the parts. Six months later I am still waiting for the parts. Today I received the second safety recall notice for the same problem. I called Chrysler recall assistance and was told it would take an additional three to five months before the parts were available. That is unacceptable and extremely dangerous. Chrysler is playing russian roullette with peoples' lives. Chrysler's claim that it takes nine months to a year to obtain the parts is patently false. They have simply intentionally placed a bottleneck in the recall process in order to improve their cash flow. Do people have to die before action is taken?.

70 Steering Tie Rod Assembly problem of the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

I received a recall for this vehicle in January about a tie rod ball stud. It says "this could cause loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. Now that sounds kind of serious to me so I called the dealer and they said they didn't have the parts to make the repair yet. So I've called every 6-8 weeks to see if they have the parts and they still don't. I have moved from 8th to 5th on the waiting list in 6 months so that certainly makes me feel better. At this rate I should have my potential "crash without warning" problem resolved about next July. . . . . If I haven't "crashed without warning". The dealer doesn't seem to be the problem. . . . . . It seems to be Chrysler. So, what to I do now????.
