Engine Cooling System Problems of Ford Contour - part 2

Each incident has been with the engine, the dealership attempts to fix one problem and another engine problem begins. My car has been in repair for the fifth time in four of the five months that I have had the car. I've been driving a rental car three, almost four weeks now. Because of these problems with the engine. What can I do?.

Engine ran out of coolant fluids. Dealership was aware of problrm.

Consumer is not able to have recall repair completed due to back order of water pumps, however vehicle is overheating due to failure.

Temperature gauge goes all the way to the red area. When car overheats it loses power. Since consumer purchased the car she had nothing but problems and recall notices.

Water pump leaking.

Engine check light is on and there is a burning smell within the vehicle. Also, all the lights on the dashboard aren't working, and the water pump had to be replaced.

Engine overheated with no warning left us stranded in memphis, TN in ice storm, ruined engine. Had to replace engine, dealership could not tell us why this happened. The engine contained water and oil at the time.

The consumer received a manufacturer's recall on water pump. A week later, consumer heard a knocking noise. Took vehicle back to the dealership, and mechanic told him that the bolts were loose on the water pump. Also, when consumer applied brakes there was a humming noise.

There is a fuel smell inside of vehicle. Dealer replaced catalytic converter sensor 4 times, and once coolant sensor. But, it did not remedy problem.

Consumer bought vehicle in September. She went outside that morning to start it up her vehicle and she noticed a knocking noise comming from underneath the hood. The dealer replaced starter and water pump but problem still exist.

Nar 06/19/2003. The consumers water pump had broken and to his surprise the mechanic discovered that the pump was made of plastic, in which they are usually made of metal. The consumer believed that Ford should recall all cars made with plastic pumps and replace them with metal ones.

Have had 5 recalls since buying the car. Also, have had to have the water pump changed. The problem is trying to get the recalls done. I had taken the car in previously only to be told they didn't have the parts and had to reschedule. The last two recalls I stressed the importance of getting these done when schedule. The air bag and the brakes were the last two. I scheduled them finally in April this year. On Saturday afternoon I went to pick up my car only to be told they did not have the parts. I expressed again how hard it was for me to come in because I work 5-6 days a week. Again I rescheduled for July. I called and made an appointment verified the parts were there. I brought the car in. Again late Saturday afternoon went to pick up the car only to be told again they did not have parts. It seems to be these recalls are not that important. I also asked why my brakes scrubbed when I stopped, they comment was we couldn't get it too. My point is it I do not believe the Ford place cares one way or the other what happens to me or my car.

Water pump failed.

Within 6 months of the purchase of my vehicle, the car started having problems with vibrations, shaking, and severe noise while driving. The engine idled rough and got more severe when the heating or cooling system was used. All tires have been replaced, a major brake job with rotors turned was completed, and the struts were replaced. Regardless of this work, the shaking in the car has gotten progressively worse. I have taken my car to the dealership five times for the same problems. They have either said that it was "normal Contour" or that it was the tires. Finally, they indicate that there is a problem but they cannot determine what it is. My car makes a thumping noise and a squealing noise when I make slow right turns. On several occasions my foot has been on the brake pedal and my car surged forward. At one point I thought that the person behind me had hit me because the car jerked so hard and so unexpectedly. Again, I am told that this is normal. This is the worst car that I have ever owned.

Odor of anti-freeze is very strong inside car at times; dealer checked for leaks and said there were none. . . . . . . . . No solution to problem.

Temperature gauge reads in very high normal range under normal driving conditions; car comes very close to overheating. Have I missed a recall notice on this problem?.

When the water pump failed th head gasket also failed . And possibly a cracked cylinder head.

This vehicle has had (5) water pumps since ownership reaplaced due to leaking. Last water pump was made by napa. New water pump which is the 5th is listed as "nwp4091". Please describe details.

While driving 65 mph, engine went from normal to red hot in temperature. Vehicle was towed to dealership and found plastic water pump fan had broken into pieces.

While driving at highway speeds the frost plug released, causing anti- freeze to spill and vehicle to stall out and die. There was not indication that the engine was overheating. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

Consumer was driving and engine overheated without prior warning. Vehicle was blowing out blue smoke and making clunknig noises.

Cooling guage shows engine running at high end-almost to red.
