Engine Exhaust System Problems of Ford Contour

My newest problem that I have with the car now is it stalls at red lights and doesnt start for 45 minute to an hour. I took it to 3 garages already and they can't find the problem.

I only have 2 speeds on my heater blower,lo and 2. I also have had smoke comming from under the dash or from a heater vent when the heater has been on. When I go over a bump regardless of how small there is a thump sound that comes from the trunk area. The suspension system seems to hit really hard with any kind of bump in the road. I also had to have the headlight switch assy fixed according the recall because of taillight and panel failure.

Consumer has been smelling fumes inside vehicle for 6-8 months. Several dealers could not determine what caused it. Consumers complained that fumes were making her sick. Consumer has stopped driving vehicle.

The pcm module is a critical emission control device. According to the warranty book provided with the vehicle, it is covered if it is replaced. However, a failure (loss of programming) is not considered a part failure. It would appear that a loss of programming is a failure (memory?). The Ford mfg. Consumer line was contacted on 8/23/99. The Ford mfg. Explained that only when a part is replaced is this covered; since only re-programming is required, Ford is not obligated to repair this pcm module. This seems to be in conflict with federal emission warranty.

Smells like raw gas all the time. Had the vehicle at the dealer was not able to find the problem. Two weeks ago vehicle went to the shop for a fuel pump. On highway while trying to pull over to the shoulder, something had popped out and started smoking under the hood, hit the concrete and both airbags came out.

Bolt on exhaust high temperature gasket joiner broke off.
