Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) Problems of Ford Contour

The lower tensioner on my timing belt disintegrated at 49,500 miles, although the manufacturer recommends this not be replaced until at least 90,000 miles. The failure of the lower tensioner caused problems with the upper tensioner, which necessitated replacement of both tensioners and the timing belt. I was charged $455 for these replacements, which should not have been necessary. Had I been driving to work and not noticed the noise the previous weekend, the car would have come to a dead stop in rush hour traffic, and myself and probably at least another 3-4 others would have been killed.

I don't know if any one there can help me, but I just want some one just hear my complaint. I purchase a 96 Ford Contour in 1999 with very low mileage. A year after I brought that car I begin having problems with that car. It have had 2 transmission. It have had a lot of electrical problems and now yesterday the motor is gone. Over the years I have talk to the Ford company but it was always it was not any thing they could do for my car. They should have stood by they cars but they. I first paid to much for the car. The dealership I brought the car from went out of business. I went back to them when the car first start giving me trouble and the next time I went to them they had closed down. The Ford company just did not do me right at all. What hurt the most I had paid my last car payment yesterday and now the motor is gone. I feel if they would have listen to me from the beginning maybe it wouldn't had to come to this. I talk to Ford on several occasions. I had a lt of electrical trouble and fumes use to enter the car. I just been threw a living nightmare with this. I don't care if I get any money or not I just want for some one to hear my complaint caus no telling how many other peoples may have experience the same problems. Ford people just did me so wrong. But I have learn a good lesson . Never buy a Ford again. Even when the call had a recall I don't think they did not fix it right. I know once you buy a car and you have to take care of your car. I have a another 96 Honda. I have never , ever had any problems at all. It just no way why a car have to have had so many transmissions and other problems like that Ford have gave me. I am so hurt with this whole situation don't no one know at this time how I feel. I am just very, very hurt. Thank you very mush for listening to me. Have a good day!.

Driver was traveling at 30 mph when another driver crossed in front of consumer, consumer hit the brakes, and rear of vehicle hydroplaned and flipped ovedr 3 times. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated that the pcv was defective. Please provide any further information.

While driving rpms on the vehicle will start to rise on its own and consumer can not shift vehicle when this happens, will usually happen when the temperature is over 80 degrees. Contacted dealer. The dealer was unable to correct the problem.

I believe all 1997 Ford Contours should be recalled, over the past 3 years I have replaced the clutch, waterpump, blower motor, both lower control arms, bushings, sway bars, wheel bearings, front & rear brakes and rotors(both twice!!!!), axle, 2 oxygen sensors, catalytic converter, egr valve, coil springs, battery, balljoints, door latch, almost all of the full front suspension!!!! there are more parts that I had replaced but I can't remember all the names of the parts there are too many!! my check engine light will not turn off, seat belt light will not turn off, short in the drivers side power window, the engine will (rev) up by itself when it's in gear and when it's not, short in the drivers side power seats, water leakage in the trunk, a/c leaks onto the passenger side floor, all doors squeak no matter what you do, carpet is falling out, horn will not work most of the time, same for the cruise control, windshield wiper sprayer does not work, knocking noise coming from the engine, ended up in very bad debt because of this and no one will take it, I still owe money on the piece of crap. Contacted Ford motor at one time regarding all the parts I replaced after the first year I had it, they say it's not there problem. Dealership who sold it to me says it was just fine, bull crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe that those are too many items for a 1997 to go wrong on.

Headlight switch and mount failed/burned up/lights won't turn off/on, needed replacing, dashboard components always run hot; fuel door lever inside car doesn't work reliably & door sticks; egr hose failed, took Ford 1. 5 weeks to get one in, no guidelines this hose ever needing replaced, & it costs $93??!?!.

Hi, we have had so many problems I can't believe that Ford dosen't recall the 97 Contours. We only had the car 1 month and the e. G. R valve to the exhaust manifold was replaced. The p. C. Valve has been serviced 4 times. The egr pressure feedback /back pressure was replaced. The rotor on the brakes was cracked and had to be replaced. We have had the car in the shop a total of 58 days. We took the car in 5 times telling them about this burning odor coming from the a/c vents. Recall about wire harness. They said could not verify concern. Untill my husband took it for the 4 time when the car was full of this foggy smoke. He made a service advisior come out and look at the car full of smoke. For three months 10-9-99 untill present . We have had to endure headaches vomiting and loss of our voices because they said they could not verify concern. We now have pictures of neglect of the safety of my husband and 5 children. The burned melted parts they should have replaced back on 10-9-99 it took untill 1-22-00 and as of right now 2- 10-00 another dealership has had the car for 7 day's. Major defects with the 97 Contour. We think they sold all there cng cars to people and didn't tell them. I know they sure didn't tell us. 3 times on the oil change paper they mention about the selenoid. You don't have that done with a oil change. Maybe you guy's can check into it? why else would owners of just the 97 Contours have so many problems? check your t s b pages. Please let us know what we can do we can't trust anyone to fix it right when we were told by Ford service people they couldn't find the problem. Something is really wrong with all of these cars.
