1 Diesel Engine problem of the 2005 Ford E-350

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

This bus is owned by first baptist church of grant, al. About one year ago we started having times when the bus would crank but not start. Our mechanic has checked it four different tlimes, however, every time except this time (5th time) it started when he went to check it. This time we were taking our seniors on a trip, but when we went to crank it, it cranked but would not start. We had it towed to woody anderson Ford in huntsville, al. I spoke with the truck service manager today and he told me the engine wiring harness was bad. This bus only has 30,000 miles on it. It has been at woody anderson Ford 4 days. I know recalls are based on the VIN number primarily. This is a like new bus and already had to replace the fuel injectors, turbo charger, and a couple of different sensors. Anyone with any common sense knows that it is not normal for an engine wiring harness to go bad. Ford motor company needs to be held accountable and responsible for replacing an engine component that should last as long as you own the vehicle. There is a recall on some vehicles with a 6. 0l diesel engine with problems like ours, it is recall # 05s34. The Ford dealership said it would cost $3000. 00 to replace the wiring harness. This should be a Ford motor company problem. Thanks for reading and considering my complaint. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My name is steve stanfield. I am the pastor. 3 Diesel Engine problem of the 2006 Ford E-350

Failure Date: 06/05/2008

Ford 6. 0 diesel engines have issues in respect to the seals on the oil pumps for the injection system. It is not a question of if the seals will fail, it's when. When the seals fail, the engine will shut down completely leaving the driver without power steering or brakes. I have two (2) vehicles fail in traffic causing the drivers to attempt to exit the roadway without being hit by another vehicle. The issue seems to be related to the "o-ring" seals used through-out the injection system. Unfortunately, I don't have the old parts available, but with approximately ten of these vehicles in our fleet, I'm sure it won't take long before another one fails. This effects all 6. 0 Ford diesel motors in all model vehicles from 2004-2008. I don't understand why there has not been a safety recall on all vehicles with this motor. As mentioned, it is not a question of if the engine will fail, but when.

8 Diesel Engine problem of the 2006 Ford E-350

Failure Date: 05/11/2006

Failure of injectors and internal oil cooler led to immediate engine shut down causing immediate loss of power steering, power brakes, etc. This happened on two separate occasions, (1 while driving on interstate during 8am morning traffic, 2 while towing a 5th wheel RV in heavy afternoon traffic in a construction zone with no shoulder available for me to get off highway). As I often pull RV's to the far west, it greatly concerns me as to what the outcome would be if this happens while on a 6% downgrade in the mountains. I have had three injector failures recently.

The agency for community transit provides services for madison county mass transit district who is responsible for public transportation services in the madison county, illinois and metropolitan st. Louis, mo. Area. We have approximately 48 Ford e450 van cutaway chassis equipped with turtle top bus bodies, all equipped with 6. 0l diesel engines. Buses are 2004 & 2005 model years. Coking (un-combustion) deposits form on the egr valve causing drivability issues such as lack of power, surges, and stalling. This condition is especially dangerous when the bus develops this condition when crossing intersections, railroad tracks etc and is transporting passengers both mobile and handicapped. Drivers have voiced their concern over this condition as they believe it is unsafe for them and their passengers. Ford motor company has replaced egr valves (approx. 36-40) or recommends a fuel additive to try to take care of the problem but it does not repair the problem as it eventually returns once the replacement egr builds up coking deposits. We have been in contact with Ford but have been informed there are no current plans to permanently correct the problem. We have been in touch with Ford field service engineers and engineers in michigan but to no avail. Previously we had similar Ford vehicles with 7. 3l diesel engines operating under identical conditions with no problems. These problems occurred when the 6. 0l diesel was introduced into the fleet as the 7. 3l previously used was discontinued.

16 Diesel Engine problem of the 2004 Ford E-350

Failure Date: 12/14/2004

The contact owns a 2004 Ford e 350 a conversion van which will not start. The van has a power stroke diesel engine. The van was towed twelve or more times to multiple dealerships to locate the problem. The contact stated that no dealer could figure out what the problem was. A diagnostics test was performed on the vehicle about fifteen times. The contact has talked to Ford numerous times. He invested $96,000 in the vehicle and would like to be able to drive it. This I happened at all times of the day. The contact was living out of the vehicle and was having thousands of dollars in towing expenses. Also, there were rental car and medical expenses as a result of the failure.
