I was doing some city driving in my Ford van and all of a sudden it started to sound rough and like my muffler fell off. I stopped had it towed and they told me the spark plug had blown out of the engine. When looking into it seems that it is a fairly common problem. My understanding is that if I had not turned the engine off quickly I could have had a fire in there as there still is gas and combustion going on(the other 9 plugs) now I don't know if or when the other plugs will go on me ands am afraid to drive the car more than a taxi cab ride home.

The vehicle in question was purchased used with 82,000 showing on the odometer. I owned the vehicle for 2 1/2 months prior to this engine issue. Left for work on the morning of Dec. 20 2006. I am an in home service plumber. Approach. 1:30 pm on the aforementioned day, I started my vehicle to leave one job and proceed to another, and upon starting the vehicle, heard a very loud pop, followed by a continuous exhaust leak type sound. Upon further visual investigation, I discovered that a spark plug was laying on top of the manifold and the number 2 cylinder coil pak was distorted and pulled away from it's attached position over that cylinder. The failure was the plug ejecting out of the cylinder head ( per dealer ) and the consequences are missed days of employment until the vehicle is repaired. The repair will cost me around 4800,00, new cylinder head plus labor to install. Vehicle is an e- 350 cargo 2002. 5. 4 triton. I was unemployed 7 months prior to this vehicle purchase. The new job I have requires me to purchase a service vehicle.

: the contact stated while the vehicle is idling for five minutes or more blue smoke came from the exhaust and there is a strong exhaust odor. Upon initial acceleration the smoke dissipates. The dealership has replaced the engine turbo, the egr valve, the air flow sensor and put additive in the fuel tank. These repairs have not solved the problem.

Oil filter housing unit bolted to left side of triton v-10 engine fell off the engine after bolts which held the housing apparently vibrated loose. The failure resulted destruction of both the sending and return oil lines to the oil cooler and also heavy damage to oil cooler after it too also fell after being yanked by the falling oil filter mounting unit. At time of failure there was no indication that there was an oil pressure problem because the instrument gages were still reading full pressure. Engine was saved from damage after driver shut engine off and steered motor home down a two lane road to where it could safely pull off. Note there is an extream fire hazard issue with this large amounts of oil sprayed on the left side engine manifold. Tires. Six firestone steeltex tires and a non-firestone spare tire were replaced due to sever cracking and evidence that tires were showing immenant failure. Tires were only load range d. Vehicle should have load range e. Replaced with non-firestones on all positions. (dot number: vd1l1xe127 tiresize: lt22575r16).
