Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While operating the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the brake pads and brake calipers, but the failure continued. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and parrish Ford (2900 river rd w. , goochland, va) were notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Have had car into shop 3 different times for spongy and hard to stop brakes. Replace brake booster twice, bleed lines, "fixed" caliper. In reading others it appears there is an issue with the hydraulic control unit or some other identified problem. Ford needs to figure this out and issue a recall. This is a serious problem that doesn't need to be ignored and there are numerous examples of reported problems.

I had this car in a Ford garage back in januarty I had to spend over $2000. 00 because one of the engine coils burned up and damaged the computer for the engine. I was told the others should be replaced also, but could not fix it because of no money. And also the brakes, rotors calipers on front of this car are a mess. I had to replace every bit of it also. This cars sucks I hate it but /.

The original power brake booster failed and was replaced. The second power brake booster failed and another one was replaced. The Ford dealership did not want to recognize that there was a problem with this part again and passed it off as something else (rear caliper) causing the brakes to loose pressure. I hope a review of these parts will be made for other driver's safety. See attachments.

Bought the 2014 Ford Edge brand new. In March 2015. (January 23, 2017) @ 21680 miles: had to replace the rear brake pads/rotors and serviced calipers (parts & labor cost: $385. 05). (April 2, 2018) @ 32000 miles: had to replace the front brake pads/rotors and serviced calipers (parts/labor cost: $400). My dealer says "it's due to the harsh central new york winters and its normal wear & tear;therefore not covered under the 3 yr 36 month warranty". I just don't understand why both rear and front brakes systems have had problems and had to be replaced. I would at least expect the brake system to perform at exceptional level greater than the my miles driven to date of 32000 miles. In the past, I have driven Toyota's and Jeep's and never experienced brake issues and/or repairs in less than 45000 miles. Ford should really pay more attention to the quality or their product and attention to detail as the "braking system" stinks and is unacceptable.

Brake booster on Ford Edge failed suddenly at 60-70k miles. Noticed it suddenly when driving the car one afternoon. At the first stop light, had to stomp on the brakes to slow the car to a stop, because normal brake pressure had hardly any effect. Knew something else was wrong, because brake pads and calipers were recently replaced. This is a known issue covered under customer satisfaction program 13n02, however my vehicle appears to have been manufactured a few months after the 5/3/10-3/28/13 manufacturing window covered by the program. Therefore Ford has refused to fix my issue. This is insane since my car was manufactured in exactly the same way and with the same parts as the other vehicles covered. This is a huge safety issue, as the brakes are very difficult to engage fully. The program also states that "the fundamental breaking system remains functional" and "the effort required to stop the vehicle will lincrease gradually" in reality you have to stomp the brake all the way down to the floor with hard pressure to slow the car even a little bit. I would not call that "functional". People will probably die because of this issue. And it's reckless for Ford to have picked some arbitrary manufacturing dates to be covered. Possibly they haven't received enough complaints yet from the ones produced just after this because they are still a little newer? this is.
I kept hearing a strange noise when I applied my brakes. When I took the vehicle in their diagnosis was that a pin was breaking on the front caliper on the front right tire. They replaced the pin, right front wheel bearing assembly, and hub. They replaced the front brake pads and inspected the brake system. Hub assembly was "wobbling" causing the pins to break and caused my brake pads to ruin.

Rear calipers does not retract brake pads and there is a constant howling noise. Caused the wheel and rotor to become over heated and braking was diminished. Also brake pads fit into caliper to tight and will not retract when brake pedal is released causing brake rotors and pads to become over heated and cause components to be glazed over and diminishing braking distance. This is an ongoing problem which Ford is aware of but there has been no recall or remedy to fix it.
