The consumer stated after driving 1400 miles the vehicle still jerks. The consumer stated the jerking aggravates an old unrelated neck injury. The consumer stated the engine shuts off while stopped at a light or stop sign. The manufacturer was notified.

Here we are years later and still the same issues. . . . Loss of power without warning, shuts off with no warning. Bangs when shifting, very rough shifting. Feels like its in 1st gear and then shifts roughly into gear, or I have to stop shut it off and start again. I see alot of the same complaint and no recall? its gettin stupid now! this should be recalled, it is a safety issue!.

Alerts that engine coolant temperature is too high. Makes smoke come from the hood. Countless bottles of antifreeze just run through it. It causes the whole car to just shut off from the heat while in motion.

While driving the vehicle on the interstate, three different times it suddenly, without warning, lost all power and shutdown the car. No power, lights, power steering, etc. I had to coast to a stop on a major interstate. Once I was stopped, turned off the car and it restarted like nothing happened. These events were very dangerous. Once was when it was raining so when the car lost power, the wipers stopped at 70 mph so I had to navigate to the shoulder without being able to see. A second time was at night driving 70 mph, when it shutdown, I lost headlights and I couldn't see. It was terrifying as I was in a remote area of I-49 without any lighting to navigate to the shoulder. Again, once stopped and put in park, it restarted immediately. Please note, I'm not the owner of this car. I was driving it as a loaner from a used car dealership. This problem was so serious I am reporting directly to the NHTSA as this car had no recalls to address. Someone is going to get injuries or die. I was terrified.

While driving at approximately 55-60 miles per hour the traction control and traction control off light lit up and a red brake malfunction light came on and the engine stopped while the car was in motion. We coasted to the side of the road and it took two attempts to start it again. The traction control light and traction control off light is still on. It happen three times so far and two of those times was while we were on the interstate in traffic travelling at 60-70 mph. This was not safe at all. When it shuts off there is a big thud sound and the traction control, traction control off and a red brake malfunction light comes on. After the second time there is now a rattle. I have the car at home now but it has a hesitation in it when it is first started this all has happened in the last 4 days.

Vechicle engine shuts down while driving. Everything loses power including power steering. On October 16,2019 it occur d while driving on parkway with my grandson in the car. We just avoided a major catastrophe. We were able to restart car and carefully drive home but now afraid to drive this car anywhere. The engine repair wrench was lite and mechanic feels it may be throttle body issues . Thank you.

The 2013 Ford Edge se has had the engine shut down while driving twice. Once on a two lane road and once on I 95 interstate with our family in it. Luckily, we were able to pull off the road. When it shuts down it shows wrench symbol on dash and says see users manual. Then the car restarts and drives normally until the next event. This is a severe safety issue and we will take the car in to the nearest Ford dealer as soon as possible. Many web threads have pointed to the throttle body as being defective and replaced. Then the issue stops. Hopefully this description helps another family from being injured on the roadways. It is understandable that cars will have issues but once Ford has notice of this problem we hope they resolve it in a timely manner. This description is an official notice of this severe safety concern of the engine shutting down unexpectedly while driving.

Brakes became spongy 2 1/2 weeks ago. Took to family mechanic. They were unable to recreate and stayed the brake pads are in great condition. Went on short vacation and the brakes continued to be spongy but not every time. When we returned home it began happening more frequently and a hissing sound began when applying brakes. Then yesterday morning the car shut off in the middle of a busy intersection but restarted after a few minutes. Took it into mechanic again and they were able to recreate both issues. After research they discovered a Ford extended warranty for this issue so I towed it to nearest Ford dealership. Now the garage is telling me it will cost between $800 and $1000 and my VIN is not covered. The info online states it should be covered. I pay my final car payment in 2 weeks and my additional warranty that I purchased ended in may. It seems this is a known issue and should be covered and most certainly should be recalled. It is not due to normal wear and tear. I have owned it brand new and after 7 years only have 30k miles on it. The vehicle is in great condition otherwise. Braking issues almost led to an accident the day before and it shut off with no warning or lights from the vehicle in the middle of an intersection. What if we had been on our road trip and going 80 miles an hour? this is a safety issue. The issue was recreated at the family mechanic in a parked position but for me it was operational.

My Ford Edge shut down while driving down the road. It just shut off. You have to put it back in park in order to start it again. This happened while going to the in our town store. I am so relieved it was not while on the freeway. Had I been on the freeway, going at fast speeds, if the cars behind me were not paying attention I could have been hit, or worse killed. When I took it to the shop I found out that it is a known problem. It's technical service bulletin 15-0178, issued on Nov 2015. What I don't understand is why there's not a recall? is someone going to have do die first? attached is the service recall. I've contacted Ford, spoken with evergreen Ford in issaquah (where my car currently is) and filed a complaint with the attorney general here in washington state.

On 4 separate occasions since September 2018, vehicle has shut down without warning while traveling on major highways and heavy traffic. Gas pedal did not respond when pressed. Lucky to have avoided serious accidents. Ford dealer/repair could not identify or repeat problem, but clearly there is a problem.

Just driving down rural road doing 45 mph, engine just shut off, warning came up said transmission not in park, put in park it restarted and was fine the remainder of trip.

Our 2013 Ford Edge has had this problem three times in a month, twice on flat roads, once on an incline/bridge. You are driving along the car is moving, then all of a sudden you lose all power and the engine shuts off. You can't put the car in neutral and restart, you have to pull over, put the car in park, then the car will start again. This is extremely dangerous, as the car is difficult to control with no power anything. . . Especially when it happens on a major highway while going 65 mph, with a narrow shoulder on a bridge, with children in the car (like it did today). There are no diagnostic codes so there isn't much to go on, you just have to start guessing at the solution. It is obvious this is a huge problem, this board is filled with this problem. Yet Ford or the nthsa isn't doing anything about it? does someone have to die before action is taken?.

Why driving 40 mph the car engine light flashed on oil pressure low. The engine shut off and the steering locked up making it in possible to get the car off the road. This is extremely dangerous. I had just driven on 4 hwys to get home 50 minutes. What if this happens why someone is on the highway.

Engine shut down while driving with no warning. Vehicle entered "accessory mode" which kept all of the instruments light up, was able to steer off the road and re-start the car. Vehicle was in motion on a city street with heavy traffic.

After researching Ford Edge research there were so many complaints of people having the same thing occur to them. My car will start and be driving then all of a sudden the car literally looses all power and the car shuts down. This has happened to me twice and it appears that Ford doesn't want to issue a recall on this. People's lives are in danger, there is no warning of when this will happen and then you stuck sitting on the road while in drive as your car lost power.

2017 Ford Edge titanium awd 4cyl - loses power when driving while driving, on more than 5 instances the car loses power. Accessories - lights, power steering stay on but motor shuts off. So far has happened going approx 35 mph and and on 09/20 occurred three times, then has trouble starting when engine shuts off while driving, the following errors appear "steering assist fault service required" "cross traffic system fault" "blind spot system fault" "full accessory power active" caught on video at least 2 of the 09/20/2017 instances Ford states it is intermittent and not producing a code.

When driving on the highway a light that looks like a wrench comes on, the vehicle starts running rough and then the engine shuts off, it's hard to turn the steering wheel. This problem has repeated itself 4 times only when driving on the highway. After turning off the engine and removing the key, I can re-start the vehicle and continue. Once it happened again maybe 2 minutes later. My mechanic believes it is the electronic throttle body part. He also told me Ford has had a recall on this specific part on Edge's.

Full accessory power mode - car shuts down at stoplights and must be restarted.

Multiple times the car suddenly lost all power. Engine shuts off, power steering gone and all the warning lights on the dash light up. This has happened on expressways, city streets and country roads, each time impeding the flow of traffic and people don't respond well to me when this happens. I have come very close to being hit by other cars. Each time I have pushed the starter button to shut it off even though it is not running and I wait a few minutes. I then restart the car and it seems to function again, for a while. The dealership wants to play games about this issue, " not doing it for our technician". I see loads of complaints just like mine with nothing being done. Come on, it's recall time,,,before I, my wife, family or someone suffers serious injury or death because of this known problem with the ebt assembly in the Ford Edge.

I purchased this car within the past month from a used car dealership with 78,000 miles on it. This past weekend, I was pulling into a parking lot and the engine shut off while trying to park my car. Luckily there wasn't any traffic behind me but if this would have happened while cars were behind me, I probably would have gotten into a severe accident.

While driving vehicle, it shudders and the engine shuts off. The car lights stay on in the interior and exterior - but the information screen goes black and then the back up camera turns on. Car will not accelerate -- stays like this for a few moments then goes back to normal but then happens again -- usually 3 times within 3 minutes. This is the second time my vehicle will be going into the service dept. The first time I was driving on a major highway going 75mph, speed dropped to 60mph within a matter of seconds - would not accelerate and rear view camera was on. Second time, at a stop light and the car shuddered and turned off when driving through the green light the engine shut off again. Then, as the vehicle was being pulled off the road and out of traffic the engine shut off again. Vehicle was towed to service dept. Ford says there is nothing that can be found.

While driving car just shuts off, cannot accelerate . Wrench light comes on. I have researched this and numerous Fords have same issue. They all come back with throttle body replacement. I called Ford motor company to ask about issue and to see if any recalls are out. No was the answer. How can there be no recalls when there are hundreds (probably thousands) having this problem. Ford escape, explorer and some trucks did have a recall. . . . Why not the Edge. I'm am about to put out over 600 dollars to get this problem fixed. I believe Ford should be made to issue a recall and stand behind their product. I'm just grateful that out of the 7 or 8 times this happened that nobody was hurt or worse make Ford stand behind their cars. . . Damnit I'm sick of putting out thousands and getting crap in return. Ps. Down below when you asked when this happened. . . . There are several dates not just one.

My car shut down while driving. I was driving in a parking lot and it just suddenly shut down. I couldn't accelerate. An error displayed that said something like full power active accessory. I was able to restart the car.

Pulled up to a red light and waited until the light turned green. Then I attempted to accelerate and the the engine shut off; however, it is possible that the engine shut off while the car was stopped prior to accelerating. A warning came up on the vehicle display, but I cannot remember the exact warning. I shifted into park and started the car back up, and all errors cleared. I drove an additional two miles home, and did not experience the same issue (even though I repeated the same procedure at two stop signs, fully stopping and gradually accelerating).

Car shut off twice on the highway at 70 mph. Very dangerous but was able to pull over on the shoulder and restart vehicle but then it would stall 15 minutes later. All power gone in the engine. Have 11,000 miles on this car. Dummy light said to "get service". At the dealership they said it would take three weeks to get the new "throttle body" to fix this problem? three weeks I am without this car! I just hope once it's fixed I'm not going to be stalling without warning on the highway!.

Was driving down highway and the powertrain malfunction warning came on. I was unable to drive the car just shutdown.

I was turning right at a speed of 10-15 mph and without warning the engine shut down and all power was lost. I avoided hitting another vehicle by quickly shifting to park and restarted the engine. The only thing I noticed on shut down was the green light on the ignition button was flashing.

We had stopped at a red light and then we proceeded through the light and the transmission shifted hard from 1st to 2nd gear (auto transmission) but didn't think anything about it. We then turned into a parking lot at tampa International airport and the vehicle's engine just shut down before we came to a stop. We coasted into a parking space and the automobile was unresponsive to me trying to shut everything down for approximately 3 to 5 seconds. There was a notification that appeared on the dash when the engine shut down but I don't remember what it said. It then allowed me to depress the start/stop button that allowed the electrical system to shut down for a re-start. I then restarted the engine and picked up my passenger and drove home. The vehicle has been problem free before the incident and did not cause any problems on our return drive home. We were very lucky to have been in a parking lot and not on a busy highway pulling in front of oncoming traffic.

Was approaching a 4 way stop while lightly tapping on the brakes when the engine shut down and the message "full accessory power active" showed up in the information display. When the engine turned off it did not buckle or hesitate. Was able to turn vehicle back on by shifting into park.

On 9/9 I left orange beach al to drive home to jonesboro ar with my 2011 Ford Edge - it quit on me at least 45 times. I went to 2 Ford dealers, one mechanic on the road. First Ford dealer had no clue how to fix it and told me to leave 3 or 4 days. Next Ford dealer wanted 1500. 00 4 hours and maybe more. So I kept driving since part costs 184. 00. When driving the car just shuts off. No power steering, now brakes no nothing. If I could I got to the side of the road and turned on my flashers. I waited a few minutes and cranked it back up. Several times on the one lane road headed into hattiesburg I almost got rear ended by 18 wheelers and no side area to pull over - my car just quit - stopped and I stopped. I got to jackson 6 lane road 5:00 p. M rush hour and my car quit 6 times and I almost got hit there several times. My wrench icon comes on, my oil light came on, my engine light is on now also. The car abruptly stops - this is very dangerous - my husband got a car hauler and headed toward me and met me out of jackson. Once, it stopped to abruptly that my dogs hit the dashboard in the front seat and were so scared. They were in the backseat. I have grandchildren that ride with me - so can you imagine the issues that could happen when this car just shuts off. This is a severe problem that Ford needs to address this and so does safercar. Gov. I called Ford today and they all but laughed at me and said I needed to get a new throttle body installed and pay for it that the 2011 Ford Edge was not included in the consumer satisfaction program 13n03 that I found on a website. This is a very dangerous problem that Ford needs to address immediately. I could have died yesterday trying to get home - did Ford care no - they will when someone dies.

I was on the freeway and the vehicle shut off, I was in the middle lane with cars flying by. I put hazards on and slowly moved to the right side and completely shut off the car. I was very scared being stuck on the florida turnpike with vehicles going past me at 70 miles an hour and I could have been in a deadly accident. I was able to turn the car back on and was able to drive and get off the freeway and slowly drive to the dealership at 30 miles an hour. The dffective part the dealer said was the throttle body, which is a part that was recalled on the Ford escape 2009-2013 and on the 2009 - 2013 Ford fusion 2009-2013 Mercury mariner 2009 -2013 Mercury milan. My car is Ford Edge 2013 , the throttle body part is an obvious extensive issue with Ford.

The car shuts off with no warning while driving. This has occurred 5 times in the past 8 weeks. The first time was a week after we purchased the vehicle and occurred at a stop light, the engine shut off with no warning lights. Three times the engine has shut off while driving at speeds around 25 mph again no warning lights. I was not turning during these times. I have to put the car in neutral and have to press the brake in order to restart the engine. Today the engine shut off while making a turn in an intersection in heavy traffic and almost caused an accident. The vehicles behind us had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting us. This is extremely dangerous. We immediately took the car to the dealership today for service. This has been occurring more frequently and without warning. I am afraid to drive this vehicle.

While driving my 2013 Ford Edge lost all power in a turn. The engine shut down, the low oil light came on and I had a hard time steering the car due to the lost of power and the car still in drive. Fortunately no one was behind me or in front of me at the time. Upon reading several forums on this problem I find that I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem as it appears this problem has been happening for years. What does it take to get a recall on this problem, a fatal accident? I'll be taking my car to the dealer since I drive in traffic every day and I can't afford this to happen in that condition, but it sounds like the dealer won't do anything about the problem as per previous posts indicate such.
