Vehicle Shudder Problems of Ford Edge

When turning the car on, the check engine light came on. The car idled rough and failed to accelerate properly. Took the car to a mechanic and the code was for a misfire in cylinder 2. Mechanic changed spark plugs and cleared the code. A couple of weeks later the same thing occurred. I took the car back to the mechanic and was told the coolant was leaking into the engine and that the long block needed to be replaced. This occurred at approximately 64,000 miles. With this problem, the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The acceleration doesn't feel right and the car shakes. This problem is clearly a defect in the design of the vehicle. Ford needs to look at the situation and do the right thing. The Ford Edge is not a safe vehicle with this problem and it is clearly a defect in design.

Happens every time I brake. Hitting the brake to stop engine shakes violently as I come to a stop. In addition to violent engine shaking the car is thrusting forward. I have to put my foot harder on the brake not to hit the vehicle in front of me. I will have to throw it in neutral to stop the shaking. In neutral the engine revs. When traffic begins to move I have to put it back in drive and hit the gas but then it lags severely. It won't go anywhere for multiple seconds before it finally takes off. That literally happens everytime I stop and go. If you are in park and have your foot on the brake too long before putting in a gear it stalls out. I have taken it to the Ford dealership and opened a case with Ford corporation who both deemed the vehicle unsafe, but neither want to take care of the issue. This issue has been going on for months. I've taken it to the Ford dealership twice and Ford has denied to assist with getting it fixed twice. There are so many unsafe 2017 Ford Edge transmissions. I wish they would have to pay for this. It's very scary to drive. My documents are in the Ford computer system. They say the whole transmission locks up and rhe whole transmission needs replaced. I've almost been hit so many times pulling out because the car doesn't go.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, and attempting to traverse an incline, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle started rolling backwards. The accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle kept rolling backwards. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000. Ah.

Takata recall. My vehicle is experinceing the same thing listed in recall #14v393000 for the same year, make, and model of my vehicle. However my VIN does not meet the recall. The halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving and power is no longer be transmitted to the wheels. I was driving on the interstate when this accured forcing me to pull of. Once in park the vehicle shakes. Turn the engine off. Wait a minute or two and start it back up and it runs fine. This has accured 6 times in the last year.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. While depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle shuddered and stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. Also, while the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle acclerated slightly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was taken to auffenberg Ford belleville (901 s illinois st, belleville, IL 62220, (618) 624-2277) where it was diganosed that the tranmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

My daughter left for work at 6 in the morning, it was minus 25/30 with the wind chill. She went to make a left turn on to a main state truck route and the car started to shake and shutter and lost all power. The engine light came on too. After the car quit completely it then was restarted. It continued to act up. A friend checked it and his computer was showing codes for the throttle body and sensors. It is now at the dealership. I called Ford and was told there is no recall or extended warranty for the issue. I was told they would note my complaint and if it is ever recalled or ok'd for and extended warranty then they would let us know and she could be reimbursed. We live off 2 state truck routes that are heavily traveled, but as she is a young female at dark with a vehicle that is dark and the road is icy and its cold enough that schools and places have shut down and people have died from exposure in this , I will not lose a child because Ford is to lazy to pull their head outta their keister and start thinking old school again and consider their customers. Fix the issue! don't sweep it under the rug because its easier than facing your "new style" vehicles have issues. I have no use for Ford. My expedition, my aunts expedition and her daughters escape all did this exact same thing. At this moment we are waiting to hear from the dealership as to what is going on. If this site allows me to update I will. She was going approximatly 30 mph and as she pressed on the gas peddle it slowly died.

While driving my 2013 Ford Edge at 70mph on the highway in traffic I received a wrench notification on my dash and the engine began to stall leaving me with no power to control my speed. As my car quickly reduced speed on a major highway I attempted to get over to the shoulder out of harms way. Once I was off the highway the vehicle began to shake and I powered down the vehicle. When starting the vehicle again I was prompted with the check engine light.

Driving home on a local street that allowed 25mph - I was going 23 mph the wrench light came up the car started shaking and the speed reduced to under 5ph. I managed to pull the car over, put it in gear and turn it off, took the keys out and waited for about 5 minutes and started the car - the light went off and I was able to drive myself home. I'm afraid to drive it again. Next to the wrench light was a message to refer to the car manual. The manual identifies the wrench light symbol as "powertrain malfunction/reduced power" powertrain or awd fault has been detected. Incident occured on 9/14/18 at 8:20pm on a clear night with little humidity neither the radio or the heat/ac was on. I had the window partly opened.

During acceleration the car shakes, loses acceleration and cuts out. It has happened 4 times this week (in traffic) to the point where I had to kick on the hazards really quick and find my way to safety. Once it is cut off, put in park and restarted it acts like nothing was ever wrong. The only light that comes on it the yellow wrench on the dash with no other warnings or information.

Car driving at any speed will abruptly show yellow wrench, lose power and acceleration, steering becomes heavy and you have to fight to get the now shaking car to side of road. After switching off ignition, waiting ten seconds, it restarts and runs perfectly for another few weeks. Dealership cannot replicate issue. My research points in throttle body assembly issue. Has happened about 12 times in 18 months. Each of differing terror and danger, but no-one can help, despite others online having same issue.

While driving vehicle, it shudders and the engine shuts off. The car lights stay on in the interior and exterior - but the information screen goes black and then the back up camera turns on. Car will not accelerate -- stays like this for a few moments then goes back to normal but then happens again -- usually 3 times within 3 minutes. This is the second time my vehicle will be going into the service dept. The first time I was driving on a major highway going 75mph, speed dropped to 60mph within a matter of seconds - would not accelerate and rear view camera was on. Second time, at a stop light and the car shuddered and turned off when driving through the green light the engine shut off again. Then, as the vehicle was being pulled off the road and out of traffic the engine shut off again. Vehicle was towed to service dept. Ford says there is nothing that can be found.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle hesitated and vibrated violently. The vehicle was driven back to the contact's residence where the engine was turned off. After restarting the vehicle, the failure recurred a few moments later. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that certain engine cylinders misfired and multiple engine coils overheated. There were no flames visible. As a result, the entire power train circuit board had burned out. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000. 5th stall 5/16/2016 turned left onto the I-90 on ramp, hit the gas and at ~40 mph the car shuddered and went into limp home mode. Pulled safely to the shoulder and ran the vehicle health report. The report shows issues with hill assist and safety restraints. (29,359).

While passing (going from 40-60mph) a slow car in the right lane of highway 405 hit the gas pedal and the car shuddered and went into limp home mode, had to pull right across two lanes ran vehicle health report, turned car off and restarted.

(on multiple occasions )my 2011 Ford Edge upon accleration the vehicle loses the abiltiy to acclerate - shudders and the check engine flashes or stays on. Supposedly could not find the "code" that caused it. I have had the vehicle into 2 different dealer ships - one replaced the transfer case, the other the catalytic converter and ignition coils- to the cost of over 600. 00 on a used certified vehicle. Less than a few days later same issue - back to dealer said it was a loose wire. I now drive the vehicle very tentatively and hope I don't have to accelerate quickly. The vehicle persists in the ability to not acclerate quickly ( usually at 55 mph or higher )without the engine light flashing or staying on. It also seems to happen most frequently on quick accleration --on ramp or getting up to freeway speed . It is very dangerous as this usually happens getting on or off the freeway or staying up with traffic, once the light goes on the vehicle shudders and will not accelerate today it will be 3 months first visit was oct 29 mileage was 68000 and has happened up to today multiple times and mileage is now 74000 the check engine light is on again back to Ford dealer again tomorrow.

While driving down the freeway at approx 75 mph for 1 hour, vehicle suddlenly stopped accelerating, odo went blank, speedo zero, airbag and powertrain lights came on. I cut across 6 lanes of very heavy traffic to exit and struggled to get up the incline. Parked at the nearest lot and shut off the engine. Restarted with a loud clunk and dash was ok except powertrain light was still on. Put in reverse and felt a violent clunk. Drove to a nearby Ford dealership where they diagnosed bad turbine shaft speed and output shaft speed sensors. They performed the repairs at my cost of $856. 91. I picked up the car and drove it 80 miles back home 2 days later with no problems. Today, 6 days later, I am experiencing extremely rough shifting, especially at around 40 and 60 mph and very bad hesitation where the entire vehicle vibrates and does not seem to know what gear to be in. Not only is this vehicle dangerous and defective, the expensive repairs are not correcting the problem and have made it worse.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. The contact stated when driving at approximately 4o mph the contact stated when accelerating I would feel a loss of pressure and the vehicle was shaking. The contact had the vehicle diagnosed power control failed the coil melted. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was not safe to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Am.

Driving at 55mph in heavy traffice vehicle all of a sudden lost power and pressing the gas pedal did nothing. Car jerked and shuddered and was like it was in neutral. Almost caused a serious collision. Turned car off and t he back on and was bale to go as long as I stayed under 30mph. Vehicle would sporadically "rev" up when I pressed the gas but would not have extra power. Had transmission fluid checked, level was perfect. Left the service shop and was stopped at a red light and went to accelerate and it acted as if it were in neutral again, in the middle of a busy road. Had to have sheriff's department redirect traffic due to my car blocking 2 lanes. Had to be towed away.

This problem happened a Friday night while driving home on a dark road. My car began to shake then no longer would driver and the wrench tool light came on. I had to pull over to the side of the road, put the car in park and turn the car off. After restarting the car, everything seemed to work fine, until it happened again, this time I noticed that the car had 50 miles to go before empty.

I was driving my 2011 Ford Edge down a busy high traffic area going 45 mph and my car started shaking the tool light came on the dashboard and it just stopped in the middle of the road, someone almost rear ended me people were honking, I still had all power but my acceleration just stopped, pulled over to the side with the emergency flashes on turned the car off and sat for a minute I restarted it and drove it home, it did the exact same thing two days later. I called my extended warranty company and proceeded to take it to the dealership. I told them after doing research I thought it was the throttle body. They checked it out and said it was a bad mass sensor, fixed it and said I was good to go. I picked up the car and two days later it did the same thing, car shook, tool light came on, then I lost acceleration, coasted into a parking lot, happened 2 more times again. I took it back to the dealership they said no codes were coming up so they couldn't fix anything. I said well obviously something is wrong, I suggested the throttle body they said no codes came up, nothing they can do, again I said something is wrong its not safe to drive! he said unless the code comes up Ford will not let them replace anything. I asked him what the solution is he had nothing. He said unless it happens while they test drove it there is nothing they can do. So im stuck with a faulty car with no solutions.

My Edge driving along about 35mph and warning lite came on awd off w/a wrench lite, quick jerk then unable to accelerate. Was able to get to side of road @ 1mph engine was shaking car stalled. Sat for about 15/20min started right up. . But know also have a very loud humming noise.

I was driving my company vehicle when suddenly the motor lost any way to increase the speed and little by little the speed went down. I was able to move towards the right line. The vehicle was just shaking, I decided to turn off the motor and turn it on again and the problem disappear. It has happened twice already in my Edge. The truck is already at the dealer but according to a call I got on Saturday they do not know that the car do has. They have made some tests but so far no failure has appeared.

I was just driving along, and all of the sudden the 2011 Ford Edge just stalled completely and would not move, so I was able to pull over to the side of the road when all of the sudden the whole care began to shake violently. The display showed a wrench and said to check owners manual, which according to Fords owners manual means power train problem. I was able to restart the vehicle and drive it and it acted like nothing happened, got to work and parked. Later that day drove it about a mile with no incident. Left work and just pulled out of the lot same thing happened, stalled and shook violently so I turned the car off. It started with no problem, went to pull back in the lot and it all happened again. I had the car towed to mathew curries Ford in nokomis, FL. Service tech says hes not able to replicate the problem so he doesn't know what is wrong with the vehicle. There seems to be alot of other complaints with the same problem. This is a very dangerous situation that can cause serious motor vehicle accident, and Ford needs to correct the issue since this seems to be an ongoing issue. I don't know if I will ever be able to feel safe driving this vehicle again. I just bought this vehicle and have not even made my first car payment, its in the shop already. . I am not happy!!.

We started up our car on a Sunday morning, put it in reverse, backed out of our spot, and then put the vehicle in drive. Right away, we noticed the car shaking, not much power, and it was sputtering along. The check engine light was flashing as well, indicating engine misfire. The car was towed to a Ford dealership. The Ford dealership ran a diagnostic and determined that the pcu had overheated and the cylinder coils melted. They also said the pcu is no longer operable and needed to be replaced, along with the coils and plugs. Generally, engine misfire indicates a tune-up is needed; however, in this case, the car needs a brand-new computer. The dealership quoted us at 2,700 total for the repair. Furthermore, this is a known issue with the car, as determined by Ford, as it issued technical service bulletin 13-4-7, citing this model and several others as prone to this malfunction. Ford should recall this model and have the issue fixed. No recalls even though this poses a fire hazard? shocking.

Vehicle experiences extremely hard transmission shifts. When slowing down and going to speed back up, transmission appears to shift into wrong gear causing vehicle to bang hard then shift into correct gear to the point the entire vehicle shakes/feels like you were hit. Vehicle also engages hard into 1st/2nd gear when coasting and reapplying gas. I have experienced the hard shift into gear issue multiple times (at least 10-15) and 1st/2nd gear engage bump everyday. This is a problem that continues to get worse and will probably lead to transmission failure.

This problem has occurred since first few months of owning it. At times while driving at all speeds the car's power goes away in the sense you might be driving 68 then the car starts to slow down, then slam, there is a loud mechanical slam, and the car feels like you ran it to something metal or solid. It literally shakes the whole car scares the !@#$ out of you. It?s usually on the express way and more when it?s cold. It seems when I?m barely increasing the gas, then letting off a bit, then back on the gas again. The local Ford dealer found a bulletin from Ford stating that replacing the transmission doesn't fix this problem to wait for further investigation. We have been waiting since 2008. The car runs great other then this problem. This might not happen for weeks then it will happen as many of 3 times in a 5 mile drive. I went on a 2 hour trip this week. It happened twice on the way up and once on the way back. As soon as we take it to the dealer it doesn't happen. I've asked them to keep the car for a week and drive it. That hasn't happened. They keep throwing their hands in the air. I wish it would just lock up so they can find something. I have seen others with the same problems but yet Ford hasn't fixed it.
