1 Power Train problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/03/2026

We were on a family road trip when issues popped up. Car was engine was buzzing and jumping in gears when started up and running rough. No check engines lights showed up. But we decided to drop it off at a dealership in grants pass oregon to get checkout as we didnt feel safe driving it home. They say it is the transmission going bad. We were hundreds of miles away from home and driving over the cascade pass when this was occurring. 1\3\26.

2 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

While driving my vehicle on the first day of 2026 at a speed between 20 to 40 mph, I suddenly noticed that the car stopped responding to the gas pedal and would not accelerate. I immediately felt a loss of power. I pulled over to the side of the road, turned the engine off completely, and then restarted it. When I tried to shift into reverse, the car didn’t respond. I switched to drive, and it moved forward, but a message appeared on the dashboard stating: “powertrain malfunction / reduced power. ” shortly after, the check engine light came on. I checked the fault through Ford app and the message was “ the powertrain control system has detected one of the transmission shift solenoids is not responding as expected or is stuck in the on position. Some transmission gears may not being available resulting in delayed or harsh shifts into another gear” I left the car parked and had it towed to a local repair shop for diagnosis. The vehicle has not yet reached 57,000 miles. Thankfully, this issue occurred while I was driving at a low speed on a side street. I can’t imagine what could have happened if I had lost power on a highway—it could have led to a serious accident. The problem occurred suddenly, with no prior warning signs. The car is currently being inspected at the shop.

3 Power Train problem of the 2022 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/31/2025

To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally report an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking between 20 mph and 40 mph. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unreliable and unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while in motion. After researching this issue, I have found that many other Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. Additionally, the vehicle will coast between approximately 2,000 and 5,000$. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Ford address this issue promptly and take responsibility for repairs associated with this problem. I appreciate your time and look forward to a resolution. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/28/2025

I had to have the torque converter replaced about 3 months ago and now the transmission is slipping and not shifting into gear.

6 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/27/2025

While accelerating at points in gear shift change at the speeds of 20 mph, 30 mph, and 40 mph, the transmission bucks, which I found out the hard way during an ice storm, creates a un-smooth shift which leads you spinning the wheels while over accelerating to correct/lessen the bucking making the vehicle less safe and controllable. I work at a Ford dealership and know this issue is happening on Ford/Lincoln models sharing this same transmission with mileage anywhere from 25,000 - 80,000 +.

7 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/27/2025

After replacing torque converter 3 months ago, I now need a complete transmission replacement due to losing gears 3-5 and reverse.

8 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/26/2025

Transmission needs to be rebuilt and car has less than 70k miles. Torque converter is failing and leaking fragments through the transmission.

9 Power Train problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/21/2025

8f35 transmission problems, poor shifts, jumpy shifts, vibration at 45-52 mph. Vibration at 59-61 mph tying to figure out if it needs to stay in 7th gear or change to the final 8th gear. At any speed below 35 mpg the transmission is challenged to understand itself and its purpose on this earth. I am scared to death to drive under 35 mph because the transmission becomes extremely unstable. Up shifting then thinking it made a mistake and violently down shifting then a lazy up shift because the transmission realized it didn't need to down shift in the first place.

10 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

After extensive research, this seems to be a very widespread issue spanning across many years of production. I am experiencing a very sharp/sudden jerk or lurch when accelerating at slower speeds. It is not as noticeable / doesn't happen at highway speeds. It's as if the transmission is trying to decide what gear it wants to be in. It has almost caused an accident I would have been claimed at fault for by shuddering and failing to accelerate while driving. There are no engine codes/warning lights. Multiple Ford techs were unable to diagnose the issue and a local shop quoted $8000+ for a transmission replacement. This has happened since the car was bought brand new- currently at ~78k miles.

11 Power Train problem of the 2018 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

Brought vehicle in with check engine light on and vehicle codes p0741 and p1744 appeared. Torque converter needs to be replaced along with transmission.

12 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/12/2025

The car would stall every time I put it in drive or reverse. It would also randomly stop while moving and cars have almost hit me due to this. There are no warning lights on the dash to see what it could be. It would shake like crazy and not move. According to forums, these transmissions fail or the torque converter becomes locked up. There are also law suits pending due to this issue. I was stuck in an intersection with cars trying to drive by me and feared for my safety. I would like to have someone inspect the transmission due to my safety and my family’s safety. There were no warnings of the failure and still nothing appearing on the dash.

13 Power Train problem of the 2022 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/10/2025

I was driving down the road in sioux falls and went to go on a green light and pushed on accelerator and car hesitated. It finally decided to go and started jerking and going thru all of the gears at once. It did this several times on the way home. There was a lot of traffic out also. The next day I was driving from my house in harrisburg and it started jerking and deacceralting on its own (with traffic behind me). I got to the stop sign and kept smelling smoke. I shut the car off and restarted it and could only drive 10 miles per hour to get to the shop. This has happened 5 different times. I got to the shop and they said it was my transmission. They stated they hooked it up to computer and threw codes out. 8 days later I took to another shop and they stated the same thing (this shop took my car for test drive and understood what I was talking about). I called Ford about it and they stated they could not help me and hung up. It is a safety issue. I could of been crossing railroad tracks when this happened and a train could of been coming down the tracks.

14 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/08/2025

My 2019 Ford Edge was having engine problems. I was experiencing shuttering at speeds 20-40 mph. My vehicle odometer is at about 104,000 miles. I took the vehicle into kendall Ford of marysville, in marysville washington. I requested a diagnostic to determine what was causing the shuttering. I offered a technical service bulletin be performed, as it was a bulletin I found when googling the issues I was experiencing. After the diagnostic the dealership performed Ford technical service bulletin (TSB) TSB 21-2081. After the TSB was performed and did not resolve the issue the dealership said the root cause of the issue is the torque converter. I am currently scheduled to have the maintenance to replace the torque converter on 12/15/2025. I read online there are customers and lawyers investigating this same type of issue by Ford and gathering data for a class action lawsuit as this issue is considered a safety hazard, in which Ford is negligent in taking ownership of the issue and notifying the owners via a safety recall.

15 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/06/2025

Purchased 2019 Ford Edge 9/14/2025, used with 53 thousand miles. On 12/06/2025, the transmission is leaking from a gasket and slow to accelerate with a burning smell and dirty transmission fluid. Miles now 58 thousand miles.

16 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

The transmission stutters at 20 to 40 mph. Per the Ford dealership in toledo, ohio that is a transmission problem and known by the Ford dealerships and Ford manufacture with the Edges. The employee told me that the Fords are known for transmission problems, and the Ford manufacturer has done nothing to fix the issue. I’m wondering why there is not a recall on this and they’re they are not being fixed when they are still being made. The cost of the repair is anywhere from $3900 to $8000 depending on what they find once they tear it apart. They estimate is attached. There are numerous complaints online and you whoever is receiving these complaints have received numerous complaints for the Ford Edge transmission, especially for the 2019’s. I would appreciate a response and resolution to this problem.

17 Power Train problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/02/2025

2017 Ford Edge titanium, 2. 0l with 6f35 transmission, ~70kmiles, owner has all service records. After routine service at Ford dealership ([xxx]), oil and filter change, inspection and coolant replacement; owner noticed upon driving home that the car would try to stall when placed into gear, then shudder and buck until the throttle was nudged and the car would start moving (forward or backward). Owner promptly returned car to the dealer. A service advisor replicated the problem and took the car into the shop where it remained for 3 days for testing and diagnostics. The mechanics diagnosis (uploaded in attachment) is that the torque converter is in a constant locked state and that something was "bad" in the transmission and likely a torque converter failure. The shop estimated $9,138. 33 to repair. Owner declined the excessive repair cost and limped the car home and into owner's garage where it currently sits awaiting some resolution. As this transmission has been the subject of prior recalls, owner believes the recall should be expanded to include this vehicle. Also noted, this transmission has been and may still be the subject of active litigation. Note: an extended warranty the owner had purchased with the car when new, expired just 4 months prior. Coincidence. The Ford 6f35 transmission is defective and should be promptly recalled in all vehicles! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

18 Power Train problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

Fluid is extremely burnt and has large amounts of metal debris in the transmission, fluid is low with no known leaks, unable to engage in neutral and in park, shift solenoid a stuck on, transmission friction element a and e apply time range/performance.

19 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

At approximately 70,000 miles, the car has started to surge and shudder at nominal speeds (between 20-40 mph, but will continue to shudder even with my cruise control on in highway conditions. ) this is a known issue with this vehicle and has been reported by multiple people. I took it into the dealership and it's going to cost me $5000 just to replace the converter. There is no reason that my car should be experiencing before even getting close to 100,000 miles.

20 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Transmission and torque converter went out at only 83,000 miles. Many other Ford Edge owners have had the same problem with their transmission and converter as well. This caused me car to hesitate and sputter on the highway which could have caused an accident.

21 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/27/2025

Torque converter shutter causing delay acceleration, which can cause issues in traffic. I understand from the transmission shop that the whole transmission is likely to fail because of it which could cause an accident.

22 Power Train problem of the 2022 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

Torque converter coming apart inside housing. Metal making its way into the transmission at about 87,000 miles. Dealership inspection was concluded and transmission replacement was recommended. No lights or messages due to problem. This issue results in shuddering and poor shifting along with potential transmission failure while driving, making it extremely unsafe.

23 Power Train problem of the 2021 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Transmission and transfer cases. The car sputters when taking off from a stop.

24 Power Train problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/17/2025

Shift to park message, not showing it is in park. Can only crank the car if you turn the key halfway and then shift to neutral to crank it. Once you put it back in park and set the emergency brake you can only crank it by repeating the process of neutral cranking. Car will roll away without brake set. Driving is a concern as I am afraid it might pop into another gear. My year 2012 is not in the recall that effects 2015-2018 models but it's the exact same issue.

25 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

My 2019 Ford Edge's transmission completely failed. It is $8,067. 89 to replace. It only had 110,000 miles on it when the transmission stopped working. The car stopped working in the middle of traffic. It would go forward instead of backward and vice versa, and then completely stopped going. We're lucky we weren't stranded far away from home or on the highway when this decided to happen.

26 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/10/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked while shifting gears. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

27 Power Train problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

Transmission failed without notice. Required full replacement.

28 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

Vehicle would not go into reverse suddenly when leaving parking lot, when putting in drive it would jerk forward, yellow tool light came on. Took to dealership immediately and they claim transmission is gone. Ford extended warranty wants a full tear down to rebuild.

29 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

Vehicle was hesitating when accelerating at slow speeds from 20 to 40 mph. Took it to lafontaine Ford dealership and they said I had a bad dpfe sensor which was replaced at a cost of $800. There were no engine codes on the dash. Drove the car the following week and still noticed a slight hesitation/stuttering when accelerating. No engine codes again. This time the dealership confirmed through diagnostic testing that the torque converter wasn’t working correctly and needs to be replaced at a cost of $5000. Now I’m wondering whether the first repair was even needed. I have seen where hundreds probably more, dissatisfied customers have experienced the same problem and Ford has done nothing even though there is a class action lawsuit concerning this issue. And Ford wonders why sales are declining. At the very least they should do is have the customer pay for the part and Ford will pay for the labor to install it.

30 Power Train problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

Component or system that failed or malfunctioned, and availability for inspection the torque converter and transmission system in my 2020 Ford Edge have malfunctioned. The vehicle experiences transmission shuddering/stuttering during normal driving, particularly during low-speed acceleration and gear changes. The vehicle remains in my possession and is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk the transmission stuttering causes hesitation, jerking, and unpredictable power delivery while driving. This creates a safety risk, especially when accelerating from a stop, merging into traffic, or driving at low speeds in congested areas. The lack of smooth and reliable acceleration increases the risk of rear-end collisions or loss of control, putting both myself and other drivers at risk. Confirmation or reproduction of the problem the issue has been consistently reproducible during normal operation of the vehicle. The symptoms have been observed repeatedly and were confirmed by a dealer/independent service center, which identified the torque converter and transmission as the source of the problem and advised that significant repairs or replacement would be required. Inspections performed the vehicle has been inspected by a dealership and/or independent repair facility. The manufacturer has not yet directly inspected the vehicle beyond dealer diagnostics, but the vehicle is available for further inspection if requested. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure there were no immediate warning lamps at the onset of the issue. The primary symptoms were transmission shuddering, stuttering, and rough shifting, which gradually worsened over time. These symptoms first appeared during regular driving and became more frequent and severe, indicating progressive failure of the torque converter and transmission system.

31 Power Train problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

The transmission failed abruptly, without any notice or warnings. I had to have it towed to a service shop. When I first tried to drive the vehicle, I was too nervous because the vehicle would not shift so I chose not to drive it for safety reasons. I first towed the vehicle to a shop near my house that concluded I needed a new transmission but they did not repair transmissions. I then had it towed to a transmission shop. Both shops concluded black, metal in the transmission. The manufacturer, the police or the insurance have not been involved. The vehicle provided no warning lamps or symptoms prior to the day the transmission failed in November 2025. My vehicle is only 5 years old and I have had it serviced every 6,000 miles at a Ford dealership. At no time did Ford tell my my transmission fluid was black or needed to be changed. In fact, they continued to tell me that the vehicle was running well. Upon investigation, it appears that the 2020 Ford Edge, 8 speed transmission has experienced the same issue. I also have a 2015 Ford Edge, 6 speed transmission, and I have never had an issue with metal in the transmission. I had to spend just shy of $10,000 to have my transmission, in a 5 year old vehicle replaced.

32 Power Train problem of the 2019 Ford Edge
