1 Electrical Jack problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

Last year I noticed the rust around doors and wheels, im retired & a disabled 77 yr old man so I drive it once a week. Over the summer I notice it handling funny, had it serviced and inspected. I was on route 30 a mile from my house it started shaking & making a horrible noise, the steering wheel was vibrating, I barely managed getting wheels to turn it off the hwy, I thought to myself, this damn thing feels like it's gonna fall apart, home was 1/4 mile, noise & vibrating continued, struggled turning wheel into my driveway, parked it, got out and front passenger side wheel is tilted way out. My son jacked it up and said my lower control arm is completely rusted out or thru and broken off and it is all rusted bad underneath & said it's scrape.

2 Electrical Jack problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

My husband set out to change and rotate my tires this afternoon. After verifying the arrows on my car for placement of the jack, and checking with my car manual, he went to work. While he was removing the back passenger tire, after jacking the car, I discerned car movement. I was barely able to warn my husband before the defective Ford Escape jack bent and cracked, causing the vehicle to come down hard on the ground. My husband's hands were almost pinned beneath the car and I am livid. This was extremely frightening to us both! he could have been seriously injured. The Ford Escape 2013 has been no picnic, with the several recalls since 2012, one occurring immediately after we purchased with vehicle from the dealership in 11/17/12. We lost the car for about a month, while they kept it at the dealership, until the parts had arrived that were needed for the repair. This is the final straw. We are going to trade in this potentially disastrous vehicle, before someone in our family does get injured. It has been (seemingly) one recall after another, too. Now, there is a recall for my car regarding the back passenger doors apparently opening while the vehicle is moving and could prove deadly for children, if improperly harnessed. We have 2 children, boy, 9 and girl, 5. That is not another risk I am willing to take either. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to express this experience. Sincerely, kristine nowak.

3 Electrical Jack problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

Friday evening I noticed something hanging down from the front of my car. The hard plastic and what I will describe as fire resistant insulator was 1/2 off. The pink plastic bolt in the frame was broken and further back where it appears to have been attached with a metal bolt; the hole around it on the plastic was too large. Now there are various electronic parts, belts, etc exposed. I was told by Ford that something hit the car or perhaps had been backed into by another vehicle not leaving visible damage, but causing pressure underneath, or the harsh minnesota winter caused this as they are seeing many things break. There are no signs of any damage and they refused to put it up on the jack to inspect. I do not feel that Ford is willing to even investigate their defective parts, in fact. I was told this was not a warranty problem but rather an insurance issue. Since I do not feel safe driving with all of this exposed I have tied it up to my grill with twine.

4 Electrical Jack problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/23/2010

I got a flat tire on the rear right side of a rented 2010 Ford Escape. The enclosed jack is unable to raise the vehicle high enough to allow removal of the flat tire and installation of the spare tire. This was the case even after I placed the jack on a 2 inch board to prop it up. I was fortunate to be within phone contact of a aaa service station so that the tires could be exchanged using a large professional jack. This could have been a serious issue on a country road in the middle of the winter.
