46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Since purchasing this Ford Escape sel 1. 6l, I've had repeated issues with coolant loss. Every time I've flagged it to the dealer, they brush me off and have filled up the coolant, saying they can't source the issue. I've been concerned that I've had a cracked cylinder head ever since the 13s12 recall in 2014. In recent years, the coolant loss issue had accelerated dramatically. It is unpredictable. And when it happens, the coolant will suddenly go from an ok level to substantially below minimum. Furthermore, the engine has a persistent burning smell over the past couple of years. I've had to drive around with a jug of coolant and a plastic solo cup to refill the coolant tank whenever the low coolant light lights up. Over the past 2 years, I've had to refill the coolant at least a dozen times. Overall, I am concerned this was a fundamental flaw from the very beginning, and instead of doing the proper thing and rebuilding/replacing engines back in 2014 when the 13s12 recall occurred, Ford put a band-aid over it and now the issues are re-arising just when so all the vehicles have had their warranties lapse. I do hope the NHTSA forces Ford to do the right thing here.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

No matter how much gas is in the tank there is a chance of the engine stalling. This stalling occurs at random. In traffic this is a very dangerous problem. So far we have had 3 close calls after stalling. My car engine has stalled a total of 8 times within the last year and a half. 65k miles and has not had any other gas line problems. This needs to be a recall and Ford needs to take responsibility before someone dies from the car stalling while in traffic. The car would stall while in motion in a street. The car would stall after start. The car will stall on a highway. The car would stall while turning.

49 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/23/2017

While the vehicle was in motion, it stalled once while I was pulling in to a parking space. My food was on the brake at that time. There was plenty of gas in the tank. There were no alert lights on prior to stalling. Today, while driving on a city street, the vehicle stalled as I had my foot on the accelerator. Again, there was plenty of gass in the vehicle. I was safely able to pull over. The vehicle was able to start again without difficulty and no problems for the remainder of the drive home.

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

A Ford representative will be with you shortly. Raquel says: hello quiton. My name is raquel how can I help you? quiton says: I need information regarding my vehicle's recall #16s41 raquel says: I can provide information for recall 16s41 fuel delivery module flange replacement. On your vehicle, the fuel delivery module may develop a crack in the fuel supply port, which could result in a leak. If a leak is present, you are likely to detect a fuel odor and/or visible fuel on the ground under the fuel tank. As a result Ford has released this recall to repair the issue. The parts for the recall are not yet available but you will get a letter in the mail to update you on when they become available so that you can schedule an appointment at a Ford dealer for the free repair. Raquel says: do you have any additional questions? quiton says: sorry meant to be more specific; I know all of the above because I've been on the phone this morning with both my local dealer and Ford customer service. Fcs told me the parts are to be made available the second quarter of this year (from now until June) and I told him that was unacceptable because we received the initial recall letter in December and if I have to wait until June for the fdm bracket that makes the vehicle potentially unsafe for me and my family quiton says: I want someone higher up to talk to regarding this but fcs told me he didn't have an email or additional phone number to call, that's what I need - I need to elevate this complaint higher.

58 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2014 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

"takata recall" even though I no longer have the car, had them repossessed it. I made very clear when buying I wanted a car I would have no problems with. I hah just filled my tank with gas on my way to see my pain med doctor 80 miles away fuel system quit, at station, this is an in closed system not supposed to go out because my car was still in shop I missed another appointment with this dr. Which resulted in me being put into withdrawals from medication, had I driven there any system had gone out I would have lost control on highway 287 towards wichita falls TX which is extremely heavy traffic. Two times my life was placed in danger because of a recall I was not informed of. Now Ford what's me to pay for what they didn't get from auction I'm not paying for a car that nearly got me killed twice and I don't think they should put this against my credit. I'm considering suing as they cost me my doctor, through me into withdrawals which at the time was life threatening because of health, and possibly losing control on highway at 70 miles which could have cost me my life, now there is another recall about engine fires. Stationary failure with far reaching consequences.

59 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 09/12/2016

Gas tank. Lots of corrosion where filler neck connects to the gas tank. When gas tank is full gas leaks from the corrosion point. Vehicle was parked in my garage when I noticed a strong gas odor. I moved the vehicle to the driveway and noticed a wet spot on the garage floor that reeked of gas. The spot corresponds to the area below the gas tank filler. I'm concerned the leaking gas is an environmental hazard and also concerned the leaking gas may ignite causing a fire and possible explosion. Help!!!.

63 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/26/2015

Upon exiting my vehicle in a parking lot and approaching the rear drivers side door I observed a dripping of liquid coming from the area in front of and toward the inside of the drivers side rear tire. I felt it was gasoline and immediately contacted a local dealer to get a diagnosis and repair. The result was that the fuel tank on my 2008 Ford Escape was leaking. After the dealer service investigation it was reported that it came from an area on the side wall of the tank and was rust through. The area did not appear to have proper coating on it.

64 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Everyone we fill up the fuel tank the car fillls up with gas fumes making anyone in the car nauseous. This has been going on for about 2 years and I have taken the vehicle to the dealerahip at least 3 times before the recall and I have taken it once more since the recall but all I am told is that they dont have any fix for it yet. This is a danger to me and my kids and this need to be fixed immediately.

65 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 03/27/2015

I drive a 2009 Ford Escape which has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent shape. In March of 2015 I began to notice that puddles of gasoline were appearing under my vehicle. I took it to the dealer immediately and was informed that the fuel tank had rusted through and was leaking. This is arguably one of the most serious safety hazards that can be found on a vehicle, especially for one that is only 6 years old. Ford should have adequate measures in place to prevent rust on such a crucial part of the vehicle.

66 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/22/2014

While driving to work, my car died twice. The first time, while approaching a stop light, the engine cut off. When I came to a stop; I put it in park to try and start it again, and it seemed to struggle when starting as if I were out of gas, but I had just filled up my tank that morning. The light turned green, and there was a stop sign about 500 yards away, and as soon as I was coming to a stop again; the engine dies. This time it took twice as long and several attempts to get it started again. Also, when I am sitting idle at a stop light or a stop sign, the rpms will drop very low and start to stall out. I am able to catch it and rev the engine to prevent it from stalling sometimes.

67 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

While driving on 70 mph speed limit highway, the vehicle without warning suddenly appeared to downshift dropping my speed approx. By 20 mph, then lurched at 50 mph until I pulled off on the shoulder. This was on a unlit stretch of highway and was very dangerous. I tried again to drive the vehicle with the same results, meanwhile the dashboard warning lights came on. I then pulled off the road and turned the vehicle off for about 5 minutes. When it restarted the warning lights were off and the car drove normally. With about a hour left on the trip, the car started to downshift and upshift randomly as I reduced my speed to about 40 mph on a 70 mph highway, which is vey unsafe, so that I could make it home. The last time I had my oil changed, the service technician suggested that I change the transmission fluid. I felt like the old fluid may have been the reason why my car shifted in an erratic manner. So, I took the vehicle to my local Ford dealer for the transmission service. This was on July 21, 2014. It was a about week later, that the vehicle began lurching again. This time I decided to try a full tank of gas with cleaner to see if that would improve the performance. It didn't. Finally, I made an appointment with a repair shop to fix it on Aug 18, 2014. They were the ones that told me the fuel throttle body was bad and that's when I googled and found the extended warranty had expired on July 31, 2014. There should be a recall for this part, not just a bandaid to make it look like the NHTSA was concerned. It is a safety issue and also and expensive repair at $400. Nhtsa: do your job and force a recall on this part. You know it is unsafe.

68 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

We were driving around a curve and onto a straight part of the road about 40-43 mph and the engine just cut off. We were able to coast over to the side of the road and stop. The steering and brakes had no power. We tried starting the engine and it cranked but acted like it was not getting any fuel (there was half a tank). We left to get a ride and when we returned to tow the car it started right up and has been driving fine since. We are afraid to drive it now because if we had been in traffice we would have been in an accident.

69 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

I was driving on I-45 just south of dallas when the engine lurched slightly and I lost power. I had to coast to the side of the road, dodging traffic. There were no warning or indicator lights; gas tank was half full. Once I came to a stop I turned the vehicle off, waited several minutes, started the engine and drove normally for about 30 miles when the vehicle stalled again. I could hear the engine "rev" when I pushed on the gas pedal but the vehicle did not move forward. Again, I coasted to the side of the road, restarted the vehicle and was able to drive about 15 miles to where I found a Ford dealer. The dealership was great and fixed the vehicle at no charge, installing a new throttle body, they said under warranty. But this is very dangerous when the stall occurs on a very busy interstate highway. I consider myself to be very lucky.

70 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

I have had this vehicle for one year, and it would be impossible to recount all of the times it has stalled on me while driving it. It has stalled in parking lots, in heavy stop-and-go traffic, making turns, pulling into my driveway, and accelerating to enter the freeway. It started within two months of purchase. I took it to a Ford dealership in August of 2014 where they performed recall work which included throttle body replacement, reprogrammed the pcm, and a power steering advisory item. The vehicle continued to stall. The stalling seems to happen just after fill-up and happens intermittently until the gas gauge reads less than three-fourths and at low speeds. I filled it up yesterday, and it has stalled seven times since then. It happens when coasting to a stop or making a turn. On the freeway at high speeds, it runs well. The issue was compounded in February when it was discovered that the evap canister was full of gas. It, along with a tube hose assembly (bl8z9d667b-af), was replaced only for it to happen again. The purge valve was stuck open and had to be replaced along with a second evap canister. The stalling issue continued, and the dealership found the canister to be saturated with gas again. This time, they said they would have to replace the gas tank to correct the issue as they believe it is a valve built into the tank which seems absurd. I have not done this since they quoted a cost of over $2000. Even if I have that done, it will only correct the canister issue, not the stalling. I have read hundreds of posts on the internet from people who have the exact same problems with the same model year as I have. These are both issues that I believe to be the result of a defect in the manufacturing of this vehicle due to the volume of owners who are experiencing the same problems. I feel Ford needs to step up and correct these issues.
