6 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/12/2021

My 2009 Ford Escape's power steering suddenly failed while attempting to back out of my driveway . The dashboard information area read power steering assist fault. Upon further investigation, I found out that there was a recall on this make and model for this exact problem. 7 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/25/2021

I was driving down the road and came to a stop, my car died. It has been doing this for several months now along with a new development of my steering column shaking. I put the car in neutral to start it back up and it would not crank over did this several times and then it started. I was on a busy road trying to turn left and all of a sudden I had no power steering. The power steering assist said failure. Drove to work about 10 more miles with no power steering in a busy town, not fun. The low tire sensor is on as well, I have had it checked out and nothing is wrong with tires, they are at the proper amount of psi. This is my only vehicle and I am glad I did not have my children in the vehicle with me. This is very dangerous to have done to you while driving. I have had my battery and cylinoid and starter checked and they are fine, but my car repeatedly dies at a stop sign, and when I am slowing down or even when I am trying to pull into a driveway. These two things need to be fixed before someone gets hurt. I don't feel as if I should have to pay for these things since they are electrical and should be put on the recall list. I bought this car last year in hopes of not having to put alot of money into it and to have for a while. It looks like I am going to have to put alot of money into it or may have to buy a different car so I know my children are safe.

8 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

Electronic power assisted steering failed in the exact same way that it failed in the previous recall that only included a limited number of Ford Escapes, of which mine was not included. No warning light came on, it just stopped working completely and caused a minor accident. In doing research I found an active recall for this issue on my model car produced in the same plant as recall but my VIN was not included so dealer is refusing to fix issue. In doing more research this seems to be a very common and very dangerous issue that most everyone with this model car has had at some point or another. The ntsb needs to step in and require Ford to recall all of the 2008 Ford Escapes for replacement of the steering column.

27 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/20/2020

Since I purchased my 2013 Ford Escape, I have had 5 recalls that were fixed to my satisfaction at kunes Ford. My most expensive repair was for replacement of the steering rack assembly on july20, 2020 at a cost of $2400. My mileage at this time was 55,602. I encountered two incidents where my steering wheel froze. I was parked at this time and it corrected itself. The following day it occurred again and I got an error message power steering failure. fortunately, this happened while I was parked. I have seen numerous complaints that this happened to others while they were driving. I contacted Ford and kunes and was told that there was not a recall on the Escape, although other owners of the Escape have had this problem. Kunes told me that they have seen this problem with other Escapes that they repaired as they did mine, and can't understand why Ford has not recalled these vehicles for the problem I experienced. I researched further and there were recalls for this same problem on the 2013 f150, focus and taurus. This expense was a hardship for me and my husband. We are retired and on a fixed income. I called and sent a letter to Ford and they said there was nothing they could do because there was no recall. I fortunately was not injured but am concerned that they do not take responsibility and warn other owners.
