3 Steering Failed problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/27/2021

Received a power steeting assist fault on my vehicle when turning it on in a parking lot. I was unable to steer the vehicle unless I gave it brut force. When calling Ford, they said that recall 14s05 was performed on my vehicle in 2014 which was suppose to fix this issue with some software update. There are many complaints that this software update did nothing to fix the issue and many times, caused steering failure after the software update. Ford is leaving many people out in the cold making them pay for their defect and found a way to "pretend" to fix the issue when they should have replaced the entire steering column to begin with, not a software fix. This failure should be fixed by Ford, especially if the software fix was not the correct solution.

4 Steering Failed problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/16/2021

My wife was returning from the store when the steering got stiff. As if the power-assisted steering had failed. She managed to get it home since she was on our road and only had to turn into our driveway. I took it out and the steering was ok for about a mile. Then it did the same for me. Ford has had this issue with several of their vehicles for some time now. Many have been recalled and this one should be. I have read many complaints and reviews about this issue. I believe this is a serious issue. If the steering fails at an inopportune time people could be killed.

5 Steering Failed problem of the 2009 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/03/2021

While my daughter was driving our 2009 Escape limited on the expressway at 70 mph, the steering assist failed without warning causing her to almost crash. After getting the car pulled over to the side of the road she had to restart it and the steering assist began working again. This has happened now on multiple occasions and is dangerous to both the individuals in the vehicle and anyone else on the road. Ford needs to alert drivers of these vehicles of this issue before they hurt or kill someone. When I enter her VIN number it shows no recall. If this was a safety issue and an recall in 2011 why is it not an issue today. I have a daughter currently stranded at her work because her steering wheel will not turn as I type this report.

Steering assist failures. . . Hi, I own a 2013 Ford Escape. And several times I have had a 'steering assist failure', and my steering is almost impossible to turn. I am concerned it will cause an accident and it happens randomly, sometimes moving and sometimes when I start the car. There are hundreds of complaints about this on the nthsa site and other sites and it is a very expense fix, up to $2000. . Is there any chance of a recall on this safety incident. Drove to school everything okay, came out after practice and 2010 Ford Escape would not turn when pulling out of parking spot. The wheel would click each time you turned a quarter of a turn right or left. After receiving assistance, learned the vehicle would turn but it was extremely difficult and no power steering. Took to sparks autorepair (1665 scherer pkwy, st charles, mo 63303) they diagnosed a steering column computer failure. This vehicle could lock up the steering at any time while driving. As a vehicle owner, I am forced to fix it. From what I have read, seems like there has been more than just myself experiencing this issue and it seems like on particular vins there was a recall. Reporting the issue of a serious steering issue is pretty important. This isn't a simple fix. Be safe 2010 Escape owner/operators. We were lucky no one was hurt.
