On my way to work this am, I was in stop and go traffic due to a light snowfall last night. Out of nowhere,my rear windshield imploded, shattering the entire window. When I had the body shop look at the broken glass, they felt the heating coils might have been too hot. This was based on their visual examination of the broken glass. It cost me $450 to replace this. There are multiple sites on the internet talking about this same issue with windows on the Ford models. Should this not warrant a recall? I called Ford and they said they have not had any problems reported and there is no recall. Can you help?.

Right after the warranty went out the vehicle starting slamming from 1st into 2nd upon acceleration. The idle is very rough and quite loud, the engine makes a funny noise and I take extremely good care of my vehicle, getting all of the scheduled oil changes on time, replacing the air filter, etc. I also explained to them that the vehicle wasn't idling properly and that the engine used to be quiet. The windshield is extremely thin as well, a small pebble hit my windshield causing a 8 inch crack in a matter of minutes to where it was beyond getting it fixed. Then liftgate started giving me problems. When you press the button, it would make the sound, but sometimes open, then on may 17, 2013 it just quit working all together. On may 18, 2013, I took it to reynolds Ford for a scheduled oil change right before a trip to mexico and upon telling them about it, they wanted $250 just to look at it before parts and labor. Now, the rear blinker doesn't work and you can't replace it due to the fact that you can't get the liftgate to open in order to remove the rear taillight assembly. So, when you are trying to make a left turn, vehicles behind you don't know you are turning and almost hit you (safety hazard). You also can't change a flat tire since you can get to the jack, which is in the rear compartment accessed through the liftgate. This is a serious problem as there is no manual release for the hatch to get it open period, once the latch doesn't work, it just doesn't work.

Windshield has a manufacturing defect that creates a heat shimmer like effect when looking through it. This causes a distortion during the day, but distortion increases at night or rainy weather. Ford has replaced this once under warranty with another Ford windshield. New windshield has same defect.
Just as I parked my 2003 Ford Escape in my driveway, I heard a huge crashing sound. The back window had exploded. I called Ford company of canada. While, acknowledging that it was a defect and a recurring problem, they would not cover the cost of repair ($360) since the vehicle was out of warranty. The man who fixed the windshield told me that the back window exploding has been an ongoing issue with the Ford Escape--- more than any other car/truck/SUV on the road today. Why hasn't there been a recall?.

The silver radio faceplate - standard equipment on my new 2008 Ford Escape creates such a glaring reflection in my windshield that it obscures my view of objects in front of the car. I have one eye - monocular vision, which makes this even more of a problem. I contacted the Ford dealership and they referred me to Ford motor company who will not support that this is a problem.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the dashboard was reflected on the middle of the windshield during the daytime. The failure occurs at any speed. The dealer stated that there was no remedy. The engine size was unknown. The failure mileage was 50 and current mileage was 500.
The windshield on the Ford Escape cracked when I rinsed it with a regularly garden hose. Since I rinse all my cars frequently and have never had this problem my mechanic suggested that the glass was very thin and likely cracked from the cold water hitting the warmer glass. I contacted the Ford dealer, who indicated that there was no known problem with their windshields. I have scheduled a glass company to replace the windshield this Friday, June 22 at my house. Please contact me, if you need additional information. Thank you.
