This has happened 3 times, first time stopped at a red light, when foot was put onto gas to go vehicle instantly lost power with no stuttering or stalling and had to put in park turn key over to go again. Second time, going 65 down the highway vehicle suddenly acted like it lost power and speed decreased, pulled over to side of highway and put in park and started right up. Third time, going 65 down highway started to act like it was losing power and showed dash lights as if all power was cut short and then gained all power back without having to pull over and restart.

My car at times will give a hard start. Turning, but not fully turning over or gives off a sound that I can only describe as an elephant trumpeting. When it does start at times it will shut completely off just as fast. It hesitates to pick up adequate speed and will stumble or jerk, and when put in reverse it will completely stall out. I've had a new battery installed, and the spark plugs and boots have been changed, but to no avail.

This is the 3 rd time the wrench trouble light came on. The car losses all power and can only idle ( roughly ). Shut engine off for a few minutes and car starts up and goes just fine. Brought it back to dealer and they said no code is stored. Nothing they can do about it. I was told that the problem is usually a throttle body but since no code they can't replace it even though I have a Ford extended warranty. So I just went and bought a throttle body for $ 225. 00 and installed it myself . Let's see what happens . Date installed 1/22/2019.
In the past week, on 2 separate occasions, my 2015 Ford Expedition has stalled while driving. First instance, while driving approx. 45mph on small country road and accelerating, vehicle stalled and came to a rolling stop, with service indicator light and "see manual" illuminated on dashboard. Once stopped and shifted into park, vehicle started and drove again normally. Second instance (approx. 2 days later), while entering interstate from on ramp, approx. 45mph and accelerating, vehicle stalled. Luckily, we were able to steer the vehicle to the shoulder prior to coming to complete stop. Once shifted into park, vehicle started and drove again normally. Ford service told us the problem is with the throttle body, and will cost nearly $700 to replace. I've done some online research over the past 24 hours, the throttle body seems to be one of, if not the most common complaints by 2015 Expedition owners. If this happened during rush hour on a major interstate, people could get killed. Please investigate.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled as the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pushed over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a sensor next to the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic or repaired of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 219,935. Aw.
When trying accelerate the vehicle does nothing after repeated attempts to push on the gas pedal. This has caused near misses in traffic from getting rear ended as the vehicle stalls and then resumes driving. I have taken to the vehicle to the dealer and they found nothing as the problem did not duplicate in their possession. This continues to occur without any codes populating. I have held up traffic while trying to move over because vehicle would not accelerate. This happens at all speeds.
The engine has caused the vehicle to have complete loss of power. It is stalling out and will not drive at all.
2014 Ford Expedition el king ranch v8 5. 4l 3v - 90,000 miles vehicle began to shake as I was pulling into a parking lot mimicking a stall. Shaking became more intense as we slowed speed into the parking spot and again became more intense upon shifting into park. Code scanner brought up a cylinder 8 misfire. Replaced all spark plugs(because 90k is about when you should) and cylinder 8 coil, no positive results. Code scanner now throws out a random misfire code, cylinder 3, and cylinder 8 misfire. Brought to a garage and the diagnostic they ran showed the cam phaser hsa failed. This must be a well known problem to Ford as there is an abundance of information easily found online and a class action lawsuit about the issue for 5. 4l engines for 2008-2012.

While driving my 2012 Expedition 45 - 60 mph, the vehicle downshifted without warning and stalled more than once and jerked repeatedly. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership twice for the same occurence listed on the recall notification. The dealer claims they "fixed" the problem by installing the new software again. The issue occured again while driving home with my family in the vehicle on the highway where the acceleration dropped down to first and the rear tire locked up. We all thought we were about to die with the traffic coming behind us. Ford needs to resolve this issue and I have never experienced something so dangerous before. Ford must be held accountable for this defect and fix the issue as people have invested in purchasing thier brand. I pray no one gets injured from this malfuction and defect on these vehicles.

Just want to add my car to the list of Ford Expedition 5. 6l engines that have experienced the spark plug ejection issue. Thankfully, this occured when starting the vehicle, so it did not cause any accident or injury. This is our son's car and we intended it to be the vehicle our 15 year old used as well. However, now that we know about the spark plug problem, we no longer feel it's safe and hope to trade it in. It's extremely disappointing and disheartening to know that Ford has not taken responsibility for this issue. Our vehicle had all original factory-installed spark plugs.

#2 spark plug blew out of 5. 4l 2 v v8. Was on highway at time. Had to immediately pull over and disconnect fuel and spark for that cylinder. Was over 100km from home, couldnt afford to tow veicle so I had to drive it the remainder of the distance home. Inspected today, there is no threads left. Now need to drill and tap head, install helicoil/timesert and hope for the best.

My Ford Expedition is equipped with a 5. 4l triton engine and like many other engines of the same family, it blew a spark plug out of the head while driving down the interstate. This allowed fuel to escape and almost created a fire under the hood. Luckily, I was able to contain it without any damage. However, I am mechanically savvy, so others may not know what to do in such an event. However, the reason is because the spark plug came out of the engine without assistance and being that I have never installed spark plugs in it, the failure was not due to my negligence. Being that this has happened to many other people and the nature of it being potentially fatal, I do not understand why this has not been addressed and considered for a recall to remedy this issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle had a sudden loss of power and stalled more than once. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was not able to provide a permanent repair solution. The contact stated that the throttle body failed and the engine was still running. The vehicle was not able to be driven and was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body actuator controller needed to be replaced. The vehicle was at the dealer to receive the repair and the contact was waiting for the manufacturer to supply the part to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
I have had 2 different spark plugs ejected from the engine on 2 separate occasions. The first time I took it in and had a heli coil installed. I have not repaired the second instance yet. There was a 2 year time span between the events. The first time it happened I was at low speed going through town. The second time I was on the freeway.

All 3 happened while driving on highways and in cold weather putting occupants at risk. #1, #3 and #7 spark plugs have blown out over a period of 15 months, destroying the coil in the process. All were the originally installed spark plugs from the Ford assembly plant. Reading and talking with other former and current mechanics, it is definitely a Ford design flaw and Ford should be held liable for repair/replacement, reimbursement and lifetime warranty or until the vehicle is junked.
