1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 09/04/2018

The vehicle failed to start 3 different times. The first time was immediately after purchase of the vehicle - it started after 30 min and was taken back to the dealership. They replaced the battery and no issues until 4 days then it occurred again. The vehicle was stopped and parked overnight and wouldn't start the next morning. The battery had enough power - jump starting didn't help. The 3 tow truck was finally called into tow the vehicle to the Ford dealership. They replaced the ignition switch and then took the vehicle back up to the purchasing dealership. They did a full review of the vehicle and didn't find any further problems. Then 4 weeks later it happened again where the vehicle would not start following sitting for a couple of hours. Again it took 4 tow trucks to come to get the vehicle to the Ford dealership. The problem was the vehicle wouldn't stay in neutral to be towed it would always return to park. The dearship then replaced the started and said it was then taken care of and won't happen again. The events were sept 4th - purchase vehicle - 1st episode, sept 8th - 2nd episode, November 19th - 3rd episode.

2 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/14/2017

Two weeks after purchasing my car I attempted to start it one morning. I got in the car and proceeded to put my foot on the break pedal and push to start. When doing that the engine did not start and the lights were flickering. I got out of the car took the key with me and the lights still flickered on and off. I had to get it jumped to take it to sun stare Ford. Who stated nothing was wrong with the car. I also have issues with the parking aide. I will just be driving (steets or highways) and all of a sudden the parking aide will go off. I am no where near any cars. It does it speratically. It scares me and now I am not sure if when the sensors on the side view mirrors are on if they are correct when attempting to switch lanes. I can't trust that when I am backing up or parking what the sensors are beeping at. This happens almost every time I drive the vehicle. Again I took the care to sun stare Ford and again no resolution and no explanation. Just laughed and said I don't know.

3 Car Will Not Start problem of the 1999 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/05/2015

Appears when it rains, the vehicle will not start. Took same to a local shop that specialize in electrical systems. They could not find anything wrong and advised they were aware of windshield leakage. They advised they did not see any evidence of leakage. Vehicle can be driven several months with no issues, but appears to occur when there is a heavy rain. Upon reviewing other post, it appears this is a longer existing problem with the year and make vehicle.

4 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

Drove to work all appeared to be fine. After a 12 hours shift returned and vehicle would start; dead battery. Replaced battery, as it was original, and all was fine. I remembered that during the week prior to this the driver's seat would not automatically adjust when the key was inserted into the ignition. This was around April 2014. All was fine until again I went to work, 12 hour shift, returned and there was no response upon inserting the key into the ignition. Battery gauge needle did not respond and when the key was turned there was no response. A jump pack was connected to the battery and the vehicle was started without any problems. The vehicle was driven, started and stopped five times with no problems. As before, for the past week or two leading up to Aug 5th, I noticed that the driver's seat would not automatically adjust when the key was inserted into the ignition or removed. The seat adjustment controls do work. On the morning of Aug 6th the vehicle again would not start and it appears that there in not sufficient charge on the battery. (battery gauge had shown that it was being charged) I did hear a constant clicking sound which I found to be coming from the power distribution box under the hood. It appeared to be coming from the fuse or relay that is in the spot marked 55, it is grey in color and marked 5c3t-14b192-aa over p6std. I noticed that when I tried the driver's seat adjustment controls the sound would go away and when release the sound returned. Upon connected a charger to the battery the sound also went away. After charging the battery vehicle was able to be started.

6 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

7 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/09/2013

On 1/9/2013, I was driving at approx. 35 mph when the engine turned itself off. I attempted restarting the engine to no avail. I coasted to the side of the road where the engine still would not start. After waiting about five minutes, I was able to restart the engine. The car seemed to run slowly on the way back home. The next time I drove the car, it seemed to run normally. On 2/12/2013, my wife was driving the car at 25 mph when the engine died again. She had to coast to the side of the road & wait to restart the car. She slowly drove back home with the vehicle. Next time the car was taken out, it ran normally. I am concerned that this problem could occur on the interstate highways at a higher speed & the result could have been vastly different.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2004 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/22/2011

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Expedition. The contact inserted the key in the ignition and the vehicle would not start. The contact stated there was a code in the owners manual for the security alarm system to deactivate and believed that to be the cause of the failure. The contact entered the code and after waiting a few minutes the vehicle restarted. The failure recurred a second time. The contact used the same code but the vehicle would not start until the following day. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that he would need to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 129,999.

10 Car Will Not Start problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/17/2009

I have a 1998 Ford Expedition eb model. I just had to take it into the dealer because the windshield is not sealed properly and the gem module has been getting wet and needs to be replaced along with the fuse box. Apparently this is quite common with this year and modle. I have to spend 885 to have it fixed and now have to have the windshield replaced as well. The car would not start and the lights flickers on and off while I was driving the power locks would lock and unlock while I was driving. The windows would go up and down while I was driving. This is not safe! it died in the middle of an intersection once then the engine revved up and it wouldn't stop. The only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery. The dash started smoking and a beeping noise came from under the dash somewhere. I was lucky enough to get the battery disconnected before there was any real fire damage. If I had know nothing about cars I would have kept driving and could have been seriously injured.

13 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/24/2007

I have a 2000 Ford Expedition that has an electrical problem. I have researched online and discovered many others with similar problems. It is apparently due to a windshield leak that causes the gem module to short out. This first happened to me a month after I purchased the vehicle in February 2007. The vehicle wouldn't start, dash clicking noise , locks unlocking and locking continuously, lights on dash wouldn't go out, after key is removed dash info lights still on. When vehicle did start radio wouldn't work and by the way it was raining/icy. This problem has occurred several other times. Windshield wipers not working properly, radio not working all problems happen only when it is raining. I personally cannot afford the $1,000. Or so dollars it is apparently going to cost to fix this problem, which is obviously a factory defect. I have 4 children and have come to depend on this vehicle, I am afraid this short could cause and engine fire.
