This was a rental vehicle hybrid, while driving on a highway, the vehicle first developed a flat tire. Afterward, while the vehicle was in motion, smoke appeared and the vehicle caught fire spontaneously. There was no collision or impact of any kind. The driver pulled over and all passengers exited safely. The fire spread very rapidly and it's a total loss. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire. The fire appears to have originated in the hybrid battery area. The were no warnings. Safety risk: the fire occurred while vehicle was moving on a public highway with occupants inside, and spread very quickly after stopping. The highway patrol attended the scene and a police report was filled, incident documented. I'm reporting this as a serious safety concern.

I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved and potentially dangerous safety defect involving the rearview camera system on my Ford vehicle, which was presented to wade Ford auto dealership and service in smyrna, georgia for a rear camera recall repair. I brought my vehicle, a 2016 Ford Expedition, to wade Ford for recall service related to the rearview camera. Wade Ford retained my vehicle for approximately one week. When I picked up the vehicle on or about [insert pickup date], I discovered that the rear camera issue had not been corrected. The rear camera image remains dark, unclear, visually deficient, and unsafe, creating a continuing hazard when the vehicle is operated in reverse. This is not a cosmetic or convenience issue. A defective rearview camera materially impairs rear visibility and increases the risk of collision, property damage, or injury. Federal safety authorities have recognized rearview camera failures as safety concerns because blank, distorted, inverted, delayed, frozen, or unclear images can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle and increase crash risk. Nhtsa recall materials for Ford rearview camera defects describe the safety consequence as reduced rear visibility and increased crash risk when the rearview camera displays a distorted, inverted, or blank image. (static. Nhtsa. Gov) after I raised the unresolved condition, Ford claimed or suggested that the issue may be due to an aftermarket radio allegedly installed in the vehicle. I dispute that explanation. I have not replaced the rear camera, and I do not accept Ford’s unsupported attempt to attribute an unresolved safety recall defect to an aftermarket component without competent inspection findings, diagnostic proof, or written documentation. If Ford or wade Ford contends that an aftermarket radio is the cause, then I request that they provide a written technical explanation, diagnostic results, photographs, technician notes.

Several of automatic sensors were not working (tire pressure) and the horn. The dealer stated I had road damage and wires were torn loose. I'm a 76 year old woman and I do not take this car off road or have any recollection of such an incident. I maintain the underside of the vehicle is improperly protected. They charged me $2300 to fix it.

On may 26, 2026, my 2019 Ford Expedition suffered a total systemic safety failure that resulted in my toddler being locked inside the vehicle in direct sunlight, requiring an emergency extraction. I used the Fordpass app to unlock the vehicle and opened the driver’s door and passenger door on the diver's side. I placed my bag containing the proximity key fob onto the driver’s seat floorboard while the vehicle was completely off. I closed the driver's door and walked to the rear door behind the driver's seat, which was still open, to buckle my child into his car seat. Upon closing his door, the vehicle immediately initialized a "ghost lock" command, sealing all doors with the key fob inside, directly violating the vehicle's "Smart unlock" and passive entry passive start (peps) safety protocols. The Fordpass remote application then completely failed, refusing to process any commands to unlock the vehicle or remote-start the engine to turn on the air conditioning for the child. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the application via a good samaritan’s cellular hotspot, the app remained completely unresponsive due to a total communication crash with the vehicle. I called 911. Local police arrived on-site first and attempted an emergency manual override using a mechanical lockout tool down the window frame, which failed. Due to the rapidly increasing interior heat in the direct florida sun, arriving firefighters determined the child was in critical danger and shattered the rear passenger door main window to perform an immediate extraction. This failure represents an unmitigated malfunction of the door latch systems documented under Ford TSB 20-2421, which overrode all safety failsafes without warning. An upcoming diagnostic testing appointment is being scheduled at an authorized Ford dealer to pull the module codes and initiate a manufacturer safety review.
Ford performed emission recall 24e13 on my vehicle. The corporate software update bricked the powertrain control module (pcm), rendering the vehicle completely inoperable 30 miles later. Ford corporate is refusing to repair the damage caused by their mandatory safety campaign, leaving me stranded. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership the recall was performed. They ran a full diagnostics and confirmed the pcm is bricked.

While backing up the vehicle, the front passenger seat belt retractor pretensioner suffered an inadvertent, spontaneous pyrotechnic deployment. There was a loud pop resembling a firecracker, immediately followed by smoke in the cabin and the odor of gunpowder. The force of the explosive deployment dislodged the interior b-pillar trim panels. The passenger front seatbelt has been locked into place. Following this, the dashboard displayed a check engine light and a battery charging system warning light, indicating the electrical system was damaged. The vehicle is rendered undriveable due to the disabled charging system and the compromised passenger seat belt. There were absolutely know warning lamps, messages, or unusual symptoms prior to the failure. At this time, the incident has not yet been physically inspected, as corporate customer service lines indicated a remedy hold on the active safety recall (recall 24s06).
The third row seats both have reachable access to the third-row powerfold buttons even in car seats. My two toddlers can easily reach the fold buttons while strapped in to their seats and are able to recline and move their seats forward and backwards. This caused major safety hazard because their car seats become loose. The buttons are placed very close to the third row seat and are accessible to 35 lb children to press and play with them. While strapped into their car seats, my children easily reached and both touched the buttons and loosened their car seats while the car was in motion and I was driving. There is no software setting or built-in dashboard switch to disable the third-row powerfold buttons in a Ford Expedition. To prevent the seats from accidentally folding, the most effective permanent solutions are removing the associated fuse, disconnecting the physical wiring harness from the button panel, or physically blocking the switch. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be fixed.
My car is a 2018 we bought it used in 2020 we had to had the transmission flushed and coils replaced . That didn't work . We had drum issues and gear slippage . Now I. Have to put a new transmission in the car.
I took my vehicle to the dealership to have all recall work done on Feb. 11th 2026. I was told I am up to date on all my recall work at that time. When I received my vehicle back it would intermittently just shut down for no apparent reason while sitting at stop lights, or just stopped in that fashion. I called and the dealership they said unless they could recreate the issue somewhat easily there was noting they could really do. So while parked in driveway the vehicle again had no power, I used my emergency key to get into vehicle and opened the hood to which I found the battery terminal connections were never tighten. I could take them off by hand. This told me the mechanic at the dealership didn't complete job and tighten my battery connections, fast forward to April 18th, it was raining, I parked vehicle, still running, went into post office ( I was only gone for 30 seconds)and I came out to white smoke billowing out from under the hood. I opened hood the large flames shooting up. I quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher I had in the car and put 90% of the fire out, it was still burning at the fuse junction box, moments later a police officer showed up with fire extinguisher and was able to put it out. The car would not stop running, so once the fire dept. Arrived they had to cut the battery terminals to shut the vehicle down. This was also the first time I drove vehicle in the rain since my recall work was done. The fire dept. And I realized the fuse box cover was not in place. So now this same mechanic that did't tighten battery terminals was also neglectful in not replacing the fuse box cover. I believe this neglect partially if not wholly caused this fire. It is highly probable that water got into the fuse box and shortened everything out which caused the fire. I have a document from the dealership that states they did the recall work for 22s36 - underhood fires. But this website says this work was not performed. No inspection from anyone has been done.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it failed to start with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was jump-started. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag warning light continuously remained illuminated. The failure was associated with NHTSA campaign number: 23v847000 (steering, air bags); however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

My vehicle continues to experience "unintended left turn signal activation" after making a right hand turn and the left turn signal activates spontaneously. Ford documented in writing that they considered this "a great safety risk". They recently indicated a fix was available, but upon receipt of my vehicle from this completed repair, the repair immediately failed and the issue persisted upon my first right hand turn out of the dealership parking lot (occurred on 4/8). I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership where no new fix is available. I followed up on 4/14, I was told a software update went out on 4/9 and now they were unable to duplicate the issue. I agreed to take the vehicle again, where the issue immediately persisted upon exit of the parking lot; I immediately returned and was able to recreate the issue with a Ford employee in the vehicle. I do have video of the issue happening on 4/14. I also have video from the Ford chat stating this is a safety issue however I have been unable to upload them to the complaint.
On apil 6 about 6:15 am I was on my way to work. And I start smelling what appears to be a gas smell and I wasn’t quite sure what was coming from so I cracked the window a little bit and said that I would try to check it when I got to work seeing that I was only roughly about 10 minutes away from work and out the corner of my right eye I noticed a flicker of light and it appeared to be flames coming from the passenger side of my vehicle under the dashboard around the blow motor area and the fuse box panel. I immediately poured over, turned the car off and the heat off that I had on because it was cold that morning popped the hood to ensure there was no fire coming from the hood ran around to the passenger side, noticed there was flames coming from underneath and beside panel, where the fuse box was ran to the back of my truck grabbed about a water and attempted to pour bottle of water on the cover of the box where I saw the flames coming out heard the sizzle realize it was electrical fire so I stopped using the water at that point realized there was a SUV that pulled up next to me which was a off duty police officer he said he saw the smoke call for the fire department at that time. I grabbed some fiber tiles that I use when I’m washing my car. I bought a handful of those up and pulled the cover off the fuse box and I start padding out the fire until I was able to get the fire out. Fire department came assessed. The vehicle said that the fire was put out successfully didn’t see any more source of the fire they left the scene as well as the police officer contacted my insurance company. They told the vehicle to my residency. The insurance damage of investor came out on April 10 and assessed contacted me on April 13 and told me the vehicle was totaled and the root cause was the climate control blower motor they had caught fire and caused enough damage that it will be too expensive to repair the entire vehicle. .
This is a report of a recurring, life-safety defect involving unintended vehicle movement in a 2024 Ford Expedition. The vehicle has experienced two separate incidents where it was placed in 'park,' remained stationary for 13-30 seconds, and then began driving itself backward without driver intervention or throttle input. Incident 1: occurred on March 29, 2026 and I have this one on video. Incident 2: occurred on April 8, 2026. The video clearly shows the vehicle remaining stationary and in 'park' for 13 seconds before the unintended movement begins. This delay proves the movement is not a 'start-up rocking' sensation or 'normal clutch drag,' but a delayed mechanical or electronic failure of the park actuator or transmission system. I presented the vehicle for service at a Ford dealership on April 17, 2026. Despite my report of a delayed-onset rollaway, the dealership documented the issue as a 'normal and desired characteristic' of the 10-speed transmission. They characterized the event as a minor 'rocking' sensation that occurs immediately, which is factually contradicted by my video evidence showing a 13-second delay. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle prone to unintended movement. I am requesting a formal investigation into a potential park-engagement failure.
Description on your vehicle it is possible that the trailer module trm may lose communication at vehicle start-up. If a trm loss of communication occurs and a trailer is connected to the vehicle, trailer stop lamps and turn signal indicators will not function. Additionally, for trailers equipped with electronic trailer brakes, the trailer brakes will not function. This loss of communication can occur with-or-without a trailer connected to the vehicle and can only initiate at vehicle start-up. If this occurs, a trailer brake module fault notification will pop-up on the vehicles instrument panel cluster. The vehicle brake and turn signal lamps will continue to operate normally and are not affected by this trm fault. If you do not tow with your vehicle, you may wait for ota deployment for your vehicle remedy. Safety risk this may result in inoperable trailer brake lights, trailer turn signals and trailer braking functions that can reduce a drivers ability to control an attached trailer and make the trailer less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy software is available to repair your vehicle. Ford motor company has authorized your dealer to reprogram your vehicles trm free of charge. Next steps contact your dealer for more information to schedule the free service.
I’m reporting a parts?availability problem with Ford recall 22s36/22s48 on my 2020 Expedition. My VIN shows the recall in Fordpass and my dealer confirmed it, but they cannot get the replacement battery junction box. I was advised to contact larger dealers because parts are not being supplied. This is a fire?risk recall, and the delay prevents the safety repair. Please document the shortage and ensure Ford provides adequate parts.

My truck stopped working in November 2025. I was told I needed fuel pump and filter. I replaced those and still didn't crank. I was then told I needed a circuit box. Purchased a circuit box and had it put on. Got my truck back February 2026. March 08,2026, truck went out again. I kept my truck maintenance and don't understand what's going on with it. I was told it is a recall on electrical parts and engine coils and spark plugs.

Receiving front camera malfunction service required warning. Also receiving pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency break system warnings. Other systems likely disabled. Found that there was a TSB issued for the same year but on the f-150. Dtc's c1001:31, u3000:89, u3000:49. This issue is likely caused by faulty cable connections where condensation has caused corrosion making the system inoperable thus creating a major safety issue for owners. I took the Expedition to sawgrass Ford in sunrise FL and they confirmed that the issue was due to the electronics/cables. The camera itself was not dirty or blocked. They charged me $250 for a diagnostic and then wanted to charge me $2500+. For the safety and security of all owners please investigate and hold Ford accountable for this.
Back up camera does not display or turn on. There has been no damage to the vehicle but radio which includes the back up camera do not turn on or function. This is a safety hazard for this car when backing up.
The vehicle is experiencing "unintended left turn signal activation". When a right hand turn signal is activated, and the steering wheel is corrected after completing the turn, the left turn signal activates spontaneously. This miscommunicates intent to other drivers, causes dangerous assumptions on the road and increases collision risk. Ford has acknowledged this is a known issue and a "great safety risk" but has no resolution. This has been ongoing since purchase in late summer 2025, however initially I thought it was perhaps a user error. It has since been identified as a known issue.
The instrument panel went black while driving. Unable to see mph, gas, gauges, or safety alerts, warning lamps, etc. The dealership confirmed there is no recall. This is a safety issue and should not be at the expense of the consumer.

B&o radio amplifier exploded causing a sharp ear piercing static sound. This caused severe driver distraction and potential fire risk.
My 2018 Ford Expedition had an open recall for back up screens not working at all. I have a 2018 Ford Expedition limited, purchased new for $72,000 in April 2018. The issues that have been repaired are endless however this one is a huge safety issue. It is a known issue and my VIN is not included in the recall. I called dealership and they will do a $285 “free” software fix as they did to the VIN included in recall: this is a known 2018 Ford Expedition recall and my VIN is not included but has the issue.
While pulling out of a parking lot onto a 4 lane undivided city street, the vehicle flashed a warning light on the dash saying “trailer brakes engaged” and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the lanes of active traffic narrowly avoiding a collision. As if the parking brake had set uncommanded. The vehicle was not and has never pulled a trailer since we’ve owned it the last 9 months. The engine was stalled but accessory was still on. After an off/on cycle the vehicle started and went into gear functioning normally. Immediately taken to a Ford/Lincoln dealer. They inspected and told us they found no codes and no discernible issues with the vehicle and it was released. Will be dropped off at another Ford shop in the morning to continue diagnosis.
The power liftgate system appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle intermittently displays a warning that the liftgate is open when it is fully closed and secured. When this occurs, the liftgate will not open using the exterior handle, interior button, or key fob. Additionally, the false “liftgate open” alert triggers the vehicle’s alarm system to activate unexpectedly without any attempt to access the vehicle. The issue occurs randomly and without warning. This malfunction creates a safety risk because the liftgate cannot be opened when needed, which could prevent access to emergency supplies, child safety items, or the spare tire in an urgent situation. The false alert also causes the vehicle alarm to activate randomly, which can startle the driver and others nearby, potentially causing distraction while driving or in traffic areas. Additionally, the system incorrectly indicates that the liftgate is open, creating uncertainty about whether the vehicle is secure and safe to operate. A malfunctioning liftgate could present a hazard if the vehicle incorrectly detects an open door while in motion. Yes, the issue has been reproducible at bluebonnet Ford in new braunfels, TX. No, alerts prior to it happening, when I does alert all lights in the vehicle turn on, as well as notifications on the Ford mobile app.
The sunroof on my 2018 Ford Expedition is leaking at multiple points and has become stuck and inoperable. The dealership advised that the brackets are broken and the entire sunroof assembly must be replaced. The leak occurs in several areas across the vista roof, causing water to enter the cabin. This appears to be related to known design defects already referenced in multiple Ford technical service bulletins (TSB 18-2374, TSB 19-2374, and TSB 21-2292). Details: I purchased this 2018 Ford Expedition on August 17, 2024, from battlefield Ford in culpeper, virginia, where it underwent a Ford blue warranty inspection before sale. The vehicle had approximately 98,000 miles at purchase and now has around 109,000 miles. Shortly after purchase, I noticed water intrusion from the sunroof area. The vehicle was inspected at sheridan Ford in smyrna, delaware, where technicians confirmed leaks at four separate points, broken sunroof brackets, and recommended complete sunroof replacement. In addition to the leaks, the sunroof is stuck and will not operate properly. Ford customer service was contacted, but they stated that no assistance or goodwill coverage would be provided. I find this unacceptable given the severity of the issue, the existence of related tsbs, and the potential safety hazards associated with electrical and visibility impairment due to water intrusion. The vehicle also required brake replacement shortly after purchase, despite being reported as low 3 mm during the blue warranty inspection, which raises additional concerns about the adequacy of Ford’s inspection process and potential oversight of critical components. Safety concerns: water intrusion may affect electrical components, airbags, or roof-mounted sensors, increasing the risk of malfunction or short circuits. The sunroof’s inability to close or seal properly could result in driver distraction, loss of visibility, or mold and corrosion inside the cabin.
Blower motor which was under recall was repaired by dealership 4/18/25 continued to work intermittently following repair. As of inspection today, 10/2/2025 at same dealership, blower motor speed controller wiring harness/assembly has since gotten hot enough to melt wiring. Wiring assembly and speed controller must now be replaced by dealership at a cost of $352. 56 which is not covered under the blower motor recall but should be.
Hood cowling coming breaking seal causing battery junction box to get water in and short-out juction box and not allowing the car not to start.
Vehicle is subject to NHTSA recall 25v572 (Ford 25s89) for rear view camera failure. The camera intermittently displays a blank or distorted image when in reverse, or shows a “camera unavailable” message. This is a known safety defect acknowledged by the manufacturer. Remedy has not been available for over 6 months, leaving the vehicle with an unresolved safety issue affecting rear visibility. No parts or repair timeline have been provided.

My 2015 Ford Expedition needs to added to the recall 22s56. I just paid $1,200 to have that part fixed cause it burnt up. Replaced the front blower motor assembly. My husband burnt his hand on the wire exposed under the dash then the mechanic said the blower motor has burnt up the components around it. The fan, motor, control, and wire assembly all was burnt up. Ford needs to be made to include my vehicle in their recall as that vehicle year, model, plant made in and date made all match.
Nn 9/15/2025 while the car was running but parked, we began to smell burnt plastic/electrical. Upon trying to shut off the vehicle several service lamps came on advising to go immediately to a service center and that there was a powertrain issue. Vehicle would also not shut off. Upon arrival at dealership they diagnosed that the battery box had corroded and would need replaced under the 1time battery junction box replacement campaign (22n19). Upon repair they discovered that the wiring harness was badly melted and would need replace part [xxx] . The problem lies here. This part is backordered with no date for availability. Ford refuses to acknowledge this as a problem, and will not help with rental or loaner assistance, as that repair shouldn't take more then a few hours to complete. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Was driving 80mph down the highway when instantly the rear wheels locked up, green wrench came on dashboard and my car came to a screeching halt. Complete loss of power, and am very lucky it did not create a major pile up on the highway! had to "bunny" hop it over 4 lanes of traffic and barely survived the most terrifying experience of my life. Had it towed and the mechanic shop said the throttle body/actuator had magnetic problem which is very common, are you kidding me?! but there are no recalls on it, and they had to replace the entire unit, and now I am scared to death to drive the vehicle ever again. I am also very lucky it did not happen on snow, ice, or rain!!!!! so dangerous and so scary!!!! and I could barely hop it out of oncoming traffic. . . . How can a vehicle go from 80mph to zero in . 02 seconds due to a faulty part and there is no recall???? so grateful to be alive!!!! Ford needs to take some responsibility before there are deaths from a very simple preventative measure due to a part completely failing. After looking it up online I read hundred's of people having the same issue.

Rear camera is inoperable or intermittent. It has been for over a year. Ford finally issued a recall notice I believe in September 2025. They have still not corrected the problem or even sent a letter confirming when it will be completed. I feel there should be reasonable time limit for them to repair my car.
In the Fordpass app, we get a notification that the vehicle has turned off certain function due to inactivity in order to reserve power. However, we will have just driven the vehicle. This message should only populate when the vehicle is inactive for 14 days. It can also populate when the battery drops below 9v or due to extremely hot or cold conditions. It is 70 degrees f outside, so this reduces the reason to only one problem, and that is the battery less than 9v. We just spent over $700 at the dealership on a new battery and service charges because they said it was a battery problem. We spent over $100 the first attempt to find the problem with a sync update. Now, with a new battery and updated sync, out vehicle is still draining the battery. Low and behold, when the message populate in the app, the vehicle will not start, leaving us stranded on multiple occasions in town. The dealership at long lewis Ford in muscle shoals cannot find the problem.
